Immediately after the fight, Edward, Mr McDonald, and Alex left the restaurant and headed back home. Lynne, on the other hand, took a ride home, while processing the intense confrontation she had just witnessed.
Upon arriving home, Alex's dad was visibly upset with Alex, his anger and frustration boiling over. "You're always causing trouble, Alex," he scolded. "You're going to ruin things for Lynne and Edward, can't you see they like each other?" Alex's dad's words cut deep, and Alex felt a surge of defensiveness and resentment. "Stay away from Lynne? She' will be my girlfriend and you two can't stop me" Alex retorted, his voice rising. But Mr. McDonald burst out in laughter " Lynne date you a useless spoiled brad. What type of lady will settle for a man like you? I won't have you causing any more trouble," he warned Alex
Alex's anger boiled over, and he stormed out of the living room, leaving his dad and Edward behind.
Turning to Edward, Mr. McDonald said, "Forget about the fight, son. It's water under the bridge." Edward nodded, still looking a bit worried.
Mr. McDonald then asked, his voice taking on a more curious tone, "Edward, are you interested in Lynne? You two seem to get along well." Edward's expression changed, a hint of surprise and then a slow smile spreading across his face. "She's beautiful, intelligent, and captivating," he said, his words dripping with sincerity. "I'd love to get to know her better before jumping to any conclusions." Mr. McDonald nodded thoughtfully, seemingly pleased with Edward's response.
There was a moment of silence, as if both Edward and Mr. McDonald were considering the possibilities. Then, Mr. McDonald spoke up again, his voice low and deliberate. "I think you two will make a good match, Edward. You're a responsible and level-headed young man, and Lynne could benefit from your stability." Edward listened carefully as Mr. McDonald spoke. "But how can I get to Lynne to find out if she arrived home safely?" Edward asked. "That's very thoughtful of you we can try finding her address tomorrow it's already late" Mr McDonald replied." We could also start by sending her flowers you know." Mr McDonald said jokingly as the two men laughed out.
Lynne walked into her home. She was surprised to see Emmy sitting on the couch, looking eager and expectant. "Hey, girl! How was the date?" Emmy asked, barely containing her excitement. Lynne couldn't help but laugh at her friend's enthusiasm. Lynne settled into the armchair across from her. "Spill the tea, Lynne! How was it? Did you have fun? Did he kiss you?" Lynne smiled, feeling a mix of emotions. "Girl, you won't believe what happened. I was waiting for my date to arrive, and I met up with Mr. McDonald and his nephew Edward. We were chatting and getting along great, but then Alex showed up out of nowhere and started a fight with Edward. Alex your crush is supposed to be kept in the zoo" Lynne's frustration and disappointment were seen on her face as she recounted the story.
Emmy's eyes widened in surprise, her expression changing from excitement to shock. "Wait, what? Alex my crush just started a fight with Edward for no reason?" she asked in curiosity. Lynne shook her head, still trying to process the chaos that had unfolded. "It was crazy. Mr. McDonald had to intervene and even brought in his bodyguards to break it up. I was so embarrassed, and I didn't even get to meet my date." Emmy's eyes grew even wider, her mouth hanging open in amazement. " Lynne are you sure this Alex of a guy isn't on hard drugs?" Emmy asked as Lynne burst in laughter. "Babe so you mean after all the expenses your surprise date encured and the time you put in all went in vain? Can just imagine how frustrated your date might feel thinking you stood him up." Emmy said sympathetically.
"Yeah, that was a total waste of time and resources" Lynne agreed. "But hey, at least you're safe and sound now. That's what matters most." Lynne nodded, feeling a bit better knowing her friend was there to offer support.
Lynne's phone suddenly buzzed with an alert, and she felt a jolt of surprise. She glanced down at the screen, her eyes widening as she saw the notification. "Oh no, my mom has frozen all of my accounts," she said, her voice laced with concern. Emmy looked at her with a questioning expression.
Lynne's face fell as she read the details of the alert. "It says here that my mom has put a hold on all of my bank accounts, credit cards, and even my phone plan," she explained, feeling a sense of panic rising up. Emmy's expression turned sympathetic, and she reached out to offer comfort.
Lynne's eyes welled up with tears as she read the text from her mom, the words cutting deep. Her mom's message was laced with bitterness and resentment, blaming Lynne for her dad's death. Lynne felt a wave of pain wash over her as she realized her mom held her responsible for the tragedy.
The text message read: "You're finally out of my house and on your own. I'm glad you left, because if you didn't, I would have thrown you out myself. You're the reason your father is dead, and I don't want anything to do with you. Don't come back, don't call, don't text. You're dead to me." Lynne felt a pang of sadness, knowing her mom's pain and grief had turned to blame and resentment towards her. Emmy was confused and didn't know what to tell Lynne. She just sat close to her friend wiping her tears and trying to give her comfort in the best possible way she could. Lynne wept all night long.
Early the next morning, Edward walked into Mr. McDonald's office, looking determined. "Uncle, I've been thinking about what happened last night," he said, his voice firm. Mr. McDonald looked up from his newspaper, intrigued. "What about it, Edward?" he asked.
Edward took a seat in the chair opposite Mr. McDonald's desk. "I want to find out more about Lynne. I've contacted an investigator to see if they can help us track down her address." Mr. McDonald's eyes lit up with interest. "Ah, excellent thinking, Edward. Let's see what they can find out."
A few minutes later, the investigator called back with the information they needed. Edward and Mr. McDonald sat down to discuss the next steps. "Now that we have her address, I think we should send her some flowers," Edward suggested. Mr. McDonald nodded in agreement." A nice gesture, Edward. Let's choose something elegant and thoughtful. We want to make a good impression." Alex over heard their conversation. He stormed out of the mansion, his anger and frustration boiling over. He quickly made his way to his friend Jake's place, still fuming from what he had just overheard. He walked into Jake's room not bothered by the female unties and the clothes on the floor. "Dude, where did you keep your phone all night?" Alex asked, barely containing his rage.
Jake was still lounging in bed with the lady he had spent the night with, a satisfied grin on his face. "Ah, man, I was right here, enjoying some amazing company,"Jake said, wrapping his arms around the woman beside him. Alex rolled his eyes, his anger and frustration momentarily forgotten in the face of Jake's obvious pleasure.
The woman smiled sleepily, stretching her arms above her head. "Good morning, guys," she said, her voice husky. Alex's expression turned serious again, his mind refocusing on the issue at hand. "My cousin is trying to find Lynne my girl and send her flowers. I don't know what's going on, but I need to put a stop to it." Jake's expression turned curious, and he sat up in bed, the woman snuggled up beside him."
"Jake held up his hands, a calming gesture. "Whoa, slow down, Alex. I know you had a date with this girl, but she's not your girl. And , what's going on with Edward? How did he get involved in this?Alex took a deep breath, trying to gather his thoughts.
The woman in Jake's bed looked confused, sensing the tension in the room. "Um, maybe I should excuse myself?" Jake nodded, and the woman quickly got out of bed, gathering her clothes, gave Jake a passionate kiss and left the room.
Alex started to explain, recounting the events of the previous night. "So, I left to go to the bathroom, and Lynne hadn't arrived yet. But when I came back, Edward was talking to her. I didn't think much of it at the time, but now it all makes sense. Edward and I got into a fight. This morning I over heard My dad and Edward planning to send flowers to Lynne. My dad is hell bent on making Lynne Edward's wife." Jake's eyes widened in surprise.
"Bro, we need to think fast,"Alex said, his mind racing. "I know she's not my girl, but we need to come up with a plan. We can't let Edward and my dad push this marriage thing through, I need to be the one marrying Lynne to prove a point to them. We need to make sure Lynne falls in love with...well, with me" Jake's expression turned thoughtful, and he nodded in agreement. "Man! last night a bad night on your path. Mine was amazing this girl was so good in bed" . Jake said with a smiling spreading across his face. " Jake can't you ever change we are talking of what my life depends on, and your talking of s*x? Please come up with a perfect plan." Alex said bitterly. Jake thought for a moment, "I've got a better idea, bro. Why don't you take flowers to her and apologize for last night? You can play the whole "I'm-sorry-for-being-a-jerk" card, and maybe she'll be more receptive to getting to know you." Alex agreed to the plan and got some red roses and headed to Lynne's place. Alex stood outside Lynne's door feeling nervous with the bouquet of flowers in his hand. He took a deep breath, knocked the door, hoping to make a good impression. When Emmy opened the door, he flashed his most charming smile.
"Hi Emmy, I'd like to see Lynne, please," Alex said, holding out the flowers. "I want to apologize for yesterday and give her these." Emmy's face was filled with anger. "How dare you!" Emmy stormed, her voice low and menacing. "After yesterday's show, you think you can just waltz in here and apologize? Step your foot on this property again, and I'll make sure you regret it!" Alex's eyes widened in surprise as Emmy's anger escalated.
Before he could react, Emmy grabbed the bouquet from his hand and used the roses to beat him, the thorns scratching his face. Alex yelped in pain, quickly turning to run back to his car. Emmy chased after him, still wielding the roses, until he jumped into his vehicle and sped away.
Breathless and furious, Emmy returned inside, slamming the door behind her. Lynne looked up from her bed, surprised by the commotion. "What happened?" she asked, her voice concerned. Emmy's expression was still fierce, but a hint of satisfaction crept into her voice. "I took care of it. He won't be bothering you again anytime soon". Took care of what Emmy? Lynne asked. "Nevermind Lynne it's nothing let me fix you something for breakfast" she said.
