Romance in Big Sky Country

James came home and did what he did every night. I was tired of feeling the way I was feeling. I woke up the next morning knowing he was gone to work. I decided then I would leave him. I packed a few essentials. I left my ring on the bedside table along with my key. I was leaving this life. I don't need to be with someone who doesn't truly love me. James and I met in college. About two years into our relationship he proposed. Things got worse after that. I dropped out of college when the hits came to my face. Make up would fade throughout the day, and I couldn't cover them up. I was never a big girl, but I started to lose weight from the abuse. I became very depressed. I was too afraid to leave, but these last couple months were just too much. He started to abuse me. I wanted to leave, I've just been too afraid. It was always my brother and I. Our mom died when we were young, and our father passed away a couple years ago after he spent most of my life in a bar stool after my mom passed away. It was a battle against cancer that took a sweet lady away. I have a picture of the four of us together, a happy family. I was maybe six years old at the time she passed. My big brother raised me. At ten years old he should've been out skateboarding with his friends not raising his little sister.
