Jaylen
The morning after the cookout, when I woke up, I got on my computer and saw that I had an email. I opened it and saw that it was from Beau. Before reading it, I decided to change clothes because we would be leaving soon. After changing into clothing that would disappear when I turn into my wolf and reappear when I turn human, I sat down at my desk and began reading the email.
The more I read of it, the angrier I got. I wasn't even able to contain the growls that escaped. How dare that man!! How dare he do this to me!! I thought as I jolted out of my chair. I closed it out then went off to find him and trying not to shift. I was so angry that I almost couldn't see straight. But, more than anything, I felt like he punched me in the gut. What he said was like a slap to the face. And I couldn't handle it. I know that something terrible is going to happen. I just don't know what it is.
Pack Warrior
I heard the head warrior growling as she came storming through the house. I had the women take the children to a different area. We could all tell that she was angry beyond belief, and her growling got more menacing when she saw the Alpha talking to a few warriors. "BEAU!" Her usually calm voice shouted with so much venom that she growled the name. He turned to face her, and I guess he already knew the direction the conversation was going.
"You already know my answer, Jaylen. You are not going. Aria and Rowena need you." "So do you, Beau! You need all the fighters you can get, which includes me. I'm not going to sit on the sidelines waiting for news!" She was practically yelling at the Alpha. I guess that at some point he had told her that he decided that she would stay here. But, this is news to all of the warriors. We had assumed that the head warrior would be coming along with the mission.
"I don't doubt your strength for one moment, so don't you dare think that. You're my sister and always have been since I met you and Aria. I just don't want you to get hurt or even worse. Killed." I think all of us could understand why he made this decision. But, it still didn't calm her. "There's no difference! You suffer the same risk I do!" "You think I don't know that?!" Suddenly I saw his fists tighten and clench, and his voice began taking on the edge and authority of an Alpha. "I will do anything for this pack and my family, which includes you. Now, stand down and stop arguing with me, Jaylen!"
She somehow kept her head up and didn't even waver for a second when he used his Alpha tone. "You may be my Alpha and my brother, but I will not let this go!" "Jaylen, stop this right now!" Suddenly, a new voice joined the fight. I saw the Luna coming up behind them just as they looked up and turned around. "Aria, this is between Jaylen and me." The Alpha said grudgingly. 'Oh, boy.' I heard my wolf say to that. "I don't care. When my mate and sister fight, it's my duty as Luna and your family to calm you both down!" She yelled at the Alpha.
"I should fight!" There she goes again. Those who weren't watching were paying attention to the scene now. "I should stand for my new niece and bring her brother home! Make sure our Alpha comes back! Make sure our brothers are safe! I didn't train for nothing, Beau!" I dashed over to Jaylen because I saw that the Alpha was done with her pestering him. "I know how much this means to you, but my word is final." The Luna grabbed her at the same time she was lunging at him, she made this heartbreaking howling sound, and I felt tears drop on my arms. "This is bull! I NEED to fight, Beau! I'm not letting this go!" She began shaking in our arms, and I knew what was fixing to happen. "Luna, move. You'll be hurt." I tell her. She moves away from Jaylen, and a warrior takes her place. I could tell that her wolf was just as upset and was just below the surface.
The Alpha began speaking once more, and we all ended up bowing our heads in submission. "You WILL stay here with Aria and Rowena. You WILL stay and do your duty to your pack here. Am I clear?" She ended up bowing her head and whimpering. Oh yeah, this is the first day he has ever used that voice on her. "Yes, Alpha..." She said brokenly. We let her go, and Beau wrapped his arms around her. They spoke in too quiet of voices, and I saw her nod before she dejectedly walked inside. After that, we all shifted and left, the Luna watching us go. I couldn't get how heartbroken she sounded out of my head. That angelic voice was echoing in my mind, and those tears streaming down her beautiful face. I bet she didn't even notice the sparks from where our skin touched because she was so furious and hurt. I heard my wolf whimper at the thought of our glorious mate getting hurt.
