Chapter 15

Beau

I told the pack that we would be leaving in the morning for the rescue mission. Tonight we were going to have a barbeque with the whole everyone. Shaun was going to wake Rowena up so that she could join. I think she'll like it. We have an area where we can spar, a space for sports; we have a massive in-ground pool and an area to fit the entire pack to eat.

Right now, I was doing a few last minutes things with the battle plan and other things. I heard a knock at the door and told the person to enter. Shaun poked his head into my office. "Rowena is waking up, Alpha. The cooks have also begun cooking all the food. So, it's time for everyone, including you, to come out." He tells me. "Thank you, Shaun. I'll be out in just a moment. I have to send out one last email." I told him as I typed something up to send to Jaylen's email. He nods and exits. After a few more minutes, I put my shoes on and head out.

Rowena

By the time I had woken up, the packhouse was strangely silent. I got up to change clothes and grabbed flip flops and walked out. I heard chatter and laughter and decided to follow the sound. I got to the pack door and saw some a group of men standing around grills grilling different types of meat. It all smelt yummy and made my mouth water. I saw the pups running around, playing, and laughing. I saw the mothers in lounge chairs, watching them while smiling and talking to one another. Some of the newer mates were just doing cute couple things.

In one area of the yard a ways away, there was a group of people that seemed like spectators standing around something. I stepped over to them and pushed through, being too short to see otherwise. Once I got to the center of everyone, I saw a smiling Jaylen dodging a swift punch from a grinning Dante. When Jaylen charged at him, the guys began laughing. She tackled his legs and flipped him over her back, where he landed on his butt. I laughed at that as well. Some of the men started cheering them on. "Come on, Dante!" "Beat him up, Jaylen!" "Whoa! There you go!" "Sweep her feet!" "Dodge!" The whole audience had joined in the cheering and was going crazy. It was surprising to see them quite evenly matched. I saw Aria in the audience, and she was just smiling and only commented a couple of times.

Suddenly, Jaylen decides to slips between Dante's legs. When she was still under him, he smirks and just lets his body falls back, catching Jaylen by surprise and landing right on top of her small frame. "ACK!!!" Everyone started laughing hysterically by the sound she made, and I saw the flash of someone taking a picture of them. Dante was laughing so hard that he was holding his stomach and his sides. "Hardy har har... now get up!" We watched as she struggled under him before scowling at him. "You're HEAVY!!" He rolled off of her and lent a hand to help her up. "Didn't like being squished?" "Not one bit..." She grumbles. Those two do seem as though they were biologically related.

When they step out, I walk over to them, smiling and with two water bottles in hand. "That was hilarious," I said, laughing a bit. "You think that was funny? Watch this." Jaylen says before she unscrews the lid to her water bottle and dumps the ice-cold contents onto the head of an unsuspecting Dante. "HEY!!" We start laughing as he glares at Jaylen. "That was cold!" "Y-you HAHA look like a drowned pup! HAHAHA!!" "I'll give you something to laugh at." She stops laughing and yelps as he suddenly picks her up and throws her over his shoulder.

I was laughing at the look on her face. "Put me down!" "How about... No." He says after pretending to think about it. I watched as he began running towards the tables, bouncing and bobbing Jaylen over his shoulder, looking very much like a rag doll. "Clear out the cooler!" "DON'T YOU DARE!" The guys laughed and did as told just in time for Dante to drop Jaylen in the slightly melted ice. "AAAHH!! COLD!!" The little kids and some of the adults about died from laughter.

Aria then comes and helps Jaylen out before handing her the water hose I didn't notice in her hands. "Get him." She got this weird look on her face, and his smile fell. "Oh, crap." He took off, and she followed in pursuit as I walked over and turned the water on for her. MWAHAHAHA!!" "How could you!?" "Sorry, Dante!" "We're not sorry, are we, Aria?" "Not one bit." After that, we all ate and hung out. Little did we know, it was the last day that would be like this before a storm shakes up our lives forever.
