CHAPTER 5

PRINCE LEE’S POV

I was looking at Ava as she slept. I don’t know what all she has been through or what all is going to come to light at the trial. See we have trials and everything like humans do. Our punishments are worse than theirs. Most of the time they have to go through what the victim has. I am just not sure they will survive with what she has been through. Yet I know some of the things she has been through. I have seen the room. As I am sitting next to her while she is sleeping. It’s cute to watch her. She is laying on the seat with her head in my lap. I decided to talk to my mom and dad while we are driving. It will take us about 3 hours to get to the castle. 

“Mom, Dad. How are we going to do this? We have to make her relive everything for the trial. I don’t want her to go through all of that.” 

“Son we have to know everything. At some point we are going to need to know everything she has been through. Your uncle is already going to be punished since he confessed to his crimes against her. No one in a pack should be treated like she has been.” My mother said. 

“I know. Do you know how hard it is not to want to let Xavier kill him. We both want him dead and it is so hard to deal with it all. She thinks I am going to reject her because of the fact that she was raped. She says I don't need someone who is dirty.” I replied to both of them. 

“Lee you just need to be patient with her. She is our feature Queen and so much more. We already know we taught you. She has never been taught the legends and prophecies that we all know. Just give her time and show her you are going to be there. Just remember the trial starts in 1 week. That time she will need you more than anything. It is gonna have to start from the very beginning of everything so we can find out what happened. From the way it sounded she didn’t even remember shifting that young. We just have to be there to show her not everyone's the same.” My father said. 

I was looking at her when the car came to a complete stop. I heard growls all around us. I cracked my window and smelled the rotting flesh and rotten eggs. Rouges. That one word had Xavier clawing to get out. Luckily since we had the Queen and feature Queen we had plenty of guards to help keep them safe. We are still about an hour and a half drive away from the castle. I saw my father get out of his car and pull my mom out. I got out but left Ava in the car. She was sleeping and I don’t want her to get hurt. My mom can fight and protect herself but Ava can’t. 

“Lee, your mother and Ava are going to keep going to the castle. This can be an attack on her. Since she will be how to destroy us since they will view her as the weakest.” My father said. I moved aside for my mom to take my place in the vehicle. Once the car started to drive away I shifted into my wolf form. I started fighting the first one that I could sink my teeth into. Just waiting more to attack. We captured 3 killed the rest. I shifted back along with my dad and he had the guards take them to the castle. They would be knocked out long enough for them to bring them back and have them in a cell. We then put on spare clothes and got into the cars. We raced to the castle. When we got there I looked around for any sign of the car. The guards had specific instructions. Park the car and get them into the safe room. I couldn’t even smell my mate in the area. It’s like she wasn’t here. I looked over at my father who had a very pissed off look on his face. I knew that look and this was not good. 

“Dad. Where are they at? Why is the car not here?”

“I do not know son. I just know that the guard I sent with them are not responding to any of my links. I can’t reach your mother.” 

I watched as his eyes glazed over and became foggy. Then he shifted and took off. I quickly did the same. I was going after my father. I didn’t care about anything. My mother and mate were missing. When I saw we were running to the pack hospital I ran faster. I saw my father and we both ran as fast as we could. I could smell my mother. I couldn’t smell my mate though. When we busted through the door my mother’s scent was the strongest. She was crying and looked fine. 

We both shifted and threw on extra clothes the doctors kept around for times like this.

“I couldn’t protect her. Our own guards turned on me.” She was sobbing as she said that. I was trying to be patient and wait for her to tell me what happened to Ava. “ They injected me with something. I am not sure what because I am not really hurting right this minute and all of that but I couldn’t call for help. When we got further down the road I heard one of them saying this wasn’t supposed to happen so soon. I felt the needle and that was all I remember until I woke up here.” She started crying even more. I couldn’t think. I just dropped to the ground. I have waited so long for her. Now she is just gone. She is not even here. 

I let out a really powerful howl and howled for my anger and sadness. I let everyone hear me. I did not stop. I couldn’t. I needed to be out there to find my mate. Someone took her and all I want is to see their blood stain the walls. 

My father started getting everything ready to search for my mate. I picked up on her scent before they did because I could smell her better than anyone else. I was waiting on my father. My wolf pacing in my head. Howling and whining. I needed to go. I needed to find her. 

My father and I took several of the different groups out into the forest. With trackers and warriors to find her. We are just supposed to look for her. I could smell her scent as I was getting closer and I saw a spot of blood on the ground. I was trying to find her faster now. The trackers were trying to get me to slow down but I didn’t see anything other than blood splattered everywhere as I was running. It looked like a battlefield and I could smell my matees blood mixed with it. I kept running til the edge of the territory. We got to the cliff and I couldn’t smell her anymore. I was trying to find anything. One of the trackers stopped just behind me as I was still smelling for her. I couldn’t pick up her scent. He saw a blood trail leading down the cliff by the waterfall. We followed it down when I felt someone trying to push my block in the mindlink.

“Lee do not block me. I found 9 dead rouges. I could pick up a faint smell of Ava. We are heading to the cliff. I don’t smell her blood but she was here.” My father said. 

“I am already at the cliff. I am following her blood trail. We are going down to the lake to see if we can find anything. I feel like she is close.” I replied. 

“She will be scared son. Be careful. We don’t know what happened yet.” He was being cautious. 

“I know.” I cut the link because I wanted to focus. I was walking down and I decided to shift back. I put on the shorts I had tied to my ankle. I walked down and saw something by the water. It was one of ehr shirts. I got close to it. 

“Wait for my team to get there Lee. I am not up on the cliff and it won’t take more than a few minutes to get there.”

“Father I am already down here. I will sit here and wait for you to get here.” Everyone one my team has now shifted back. My best friend Moose came up to me and sat beside me. 

“So, what are we doing? Your mate is here somewhere and you're sitting on your ass Lee.” He is lucky that he will be my Beta. Most trusted person I know. I slapped him upside the head. I was staring at the water in front of me. 

“Waiting on my father to get here. You need to keep your space from her. My wolf doesn’t like anyone around her after everything that we know about her. It’s not you. It is just that we are super protective of her. I know she is going to be hurt. I could smell her blood. It’s putting me on edge.” I saw my father and his team walking towards up already shifted and in shorts. I was staring at the waterfall. It looked like something behind it. I jumped up and started running towards it. 

“Lee stop!” I heard my father yell. I didn’t. If my mate was there I would save her. I stopped as I saw something ready to pounce as I got to the water. When I looked closely I could see her wolf. 

“Mate it's okay. I am not going to hurt you.” When she jumped out and stood in front of me protectively. I saw both of her eyes were that bright glowing purple. “Ava it’s okay. They are from my pack. Look, my dad is standing with them right now.” I saw Moose move towards me from the corner of my eye. Ava or should I say, this her wolf Star did. I don’t know if Ava is there at all or not. She growled out to him to stop. I slowly reached my hand up to put it on her back. “Someone get me a blanket or something to cover her with.” I watched as Moose threw a really big hoodie at me. When I smelt it I knew it was one of mine. I just don’t know how. I gave him a questioning look. 

“When I knew we were looking for your mate. I snuck into your room to grab it. I didn’t think either of you would want someone else’s things on her with another scent. I barely touched it so it would stay like that.” He said through our link. 

I had my hand on her fur. I could feel her relaxing under my touch. 

“Ava please shift back. I have something for you to wear. Please. I need you to  so I can make sure you're okay.” I said. I watched as she slowly went to take my hoodie with her. She walked behind a tree and shifted. When she came back out I saw blood in many places. Her white fur didn’t look this bad. She stumbled a bit and I ran towards her. I noticed how there was a gash in her shoulder. She had claw marks on her neck. I saw blood running down her side so i lifted my jacket carefully and saw the claw marks that were on her sidesI looked at her legs next. Her thighs had bite marks on them and flesh was torn from fighting. Her calves and feet were all cut up as well. I couldn’t believe that she was still standing. I put my arm around her to help support her. She leaned into me.

“Thank you. For coming for me. They were gonna sell me to someone. I didn’t want to kill them. Star took over because she said she could protect us.” She was crying. 

“Let’s get you home. We can have the doc look at you. Dad, I think she could ride on me. I want you to make sure she is on properly. Your mated and my dad. Xavier is already fighting so hard with Moose here. I think it should be fine if you help her.” 

“Okay son. Shift so we can get her home.” He replied. 

I shifted as fast as I could. Once I was shifted my father went to help her get one me. I had to fight back a growl as she started whimpering. He helped her sit on me.

“Ava can you hold onto him. It’s a long run back. It will take at least 2 hours because of how big our territory is.” My father asked her. 

“I think so.” She was whispering.

“Dad, I need you to tell her to stay awake. She needs to stay awake.” I linked my father. He may be my King but I have only ever once had to call him that. I royally messed up. I got tired of waiting for my mate. Even though she is only 16 I am 28. Since our lives are very long we can have mates a hundred years younger. I wanted to have a mate. I never waited for my mate either. When I went to my father and told him this he was furious with me. I knew I shouldn’t have. I pushed his buttons. I will never in my life do that again. I felt as Ava slowly leaned forward and wrapped her arms around my neck. The best she could. I am an Alpha King wolf. My size shows that. 

“I’m good Lee. Can we go now? I am getting really tired.” 

I whined then howled for everyone to follow me. I took off at a fast pace. Still being mindful of her on my back. I ran as fast as I could. I was running faster than I have ever run. I could see the castel. I howled again and my mom came running out and she saw Ava on my back. When I got there doc was standing there. She went to touch Ava and I could not hold back the growl that was coming out. I did not care. I could handle family. Her, I could not. There has to be a tractor in this pack. I moved away from her when everyone else got there My father came up to me. I whined at him. He slowly moved to Ava and lifted her off me. Once she was off of me I shifted back and grabbed her. I walked into the room and laid her on the bed. I grabbed her hand as the doc came in the room. I looked at Ava and her eyes were starting to close.

“Ava, baby stay awake my love. You can do it. I know it's hard but focus on me.”

The doc moved closer to her and my father was right behind me just in case. My mother was around because she could help the doc if needed. Doc started to put stitches in her. 

“My Queen can you help with bandaging the other wounds while I do this. We need to start a transfusion on her. Prince since you're her mate.You will have the same blood type I will need you to give her blood she has lost so much already.” Doc said while someone else was coming in the room. I started to relax when it was her mated son. He was mated. He had everything that he needed to take my blood. I saw him walk towards me. He was being careful. 

“Prince Lee I need to put the needle in both of you. I am not going to hurt her.I just need to make sure I have the needle in her properly. Is it okay if I do this.” As he asked I felt my father put his arm around me. I couldn’t take my eyes off of the man near my mate. I just let it happen. I closed my eyes and focused on her smell. MY hand was still in her’s. I felt her squeeze my hand. I looked up in her eyes. She was trying to stay awake. 

“Talk to me.” she whispered.

“About what Ava.” I asked back.

“Anything.” So that’s what I did. I just talked to her. 

“All done with everything. Thank you, Your majesties. I know this would have been harder. She just needs more blood along with plenty of rest. She needs to eat more also. I have her on a drip for nutrients and everything her body is lacking right now. When that bag is empty press the button. I will be the only one to attend to her. No one else. My son or anyone else will only come in if I am in the room.”  Doc said. 

“Thank you.” We all said. She left the room and I moved closer to the bed and rested my head on it. 

“Ava you can go to sleep. I am right here. I am not going anywhere now.” I told her. 

“Can you lay next to me. I don’t have nightmares when you are holding me.”

“Of course baby girl. I will do anything for you.” I said. I climbed into the bed next to her and laid down next to her. I felt her relax and she was relaxing and falling asleep. My parents left the room. Moose came in the room later and I was just holding her in her sleep. I wanted to get up and go outside with him to talk about things but the moment I got up from the bed Ava started to scream. I quickly ran back over to the bed and she jumped up out of bed. She almost ripped the IV’s out of her arms. I put my arms around her and kissed her head. 

“It’s okay. I am right here baby girl. I am right here.” I kept whispering to her telling her that I am not going anywhere. She calmed down and looked at me. “I am right here. No one can hurt you.” For some reason Moose decided to clear his throat and she jumped. “Seriously Moose. You had to do that.” His real name is Travis. For as long as I can remember we have been calling him Moose. 

“Sorry Lee. I just thought that maybe I could meet her.” He had his smile on. He can be such a flirt. At least he is harmless. 

“Ava this is Moose. Moose meet my mate and future Queen Ava.” I said.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Princess Ava.” Moose said. “I did have a reason to come here though. We have a problem. A huge one.” 

“What would that be?” I asked him. 

“We need to talk about it. Your father sent me to each of the spots you have both found. All the blood. Now some of the scents were the guards. The ones supposed to bring them back. We need to know what happened Ava. I need you to tell us what all you remember.” Moose said. I growled at him.

“Not now Moose. She needs to rest more.” I said sternly. 

“Look Lee, your dad already said that we don’t know how much longer to wait. We need to know something. We need something Ava please.”

I felt a change in her. She sat up straighter, squared her shoulders and looked him in the eyes. I saw her eyes.  One of her sky blue and one purple. I still don’t understand how she can do that. My mate is special. Moose noticed. He was looking between the two of us. Star was coming forward. I don’t know what will happen though. I never knew what to expect with her or her wolf.
