AFTER LEAVING A MESSAGE for Jason to call me, I headed home, still trembling from all the lies I’d just told. I told myself that it was for the best. Chase and I were meant to be together, no matter what it took to get us there.
When I finally made it home, I found a note from my dad, stating that he had to work late.
Thank God.
As much as I loved my father, he’d been on my case lately. Especially after catching Chase street racing. He’d demanded that I break up with him that night, not knowing that, technically, we weren’t together anymore. But that was all changing. Chase and I would get married and raise a son or daughter. Now, I just had to hope he wouldn’t demand a DNA test after the baby was born. Or figure out that I was only a month along, not two or three.
