In the car she remembered what happened this morning at the airport when Delta Dave took one of the triplets to the bathroom. She should have known that there was no way to avoid him, their plane landed in a werewolf airport which increased the chance of seeing him. But she thought the moon goddess would be so merciful and spare her such fate. They say the moon goddess always has a good plan for every werewolf but she wonders what amazing things were in store for her since she has always known pain.
She recalled Alpha Maverick calling out her name and walking as fast as she could away from his sight. She knows she won't be able to avoid him if he happens to attend this meeting, no matter how she hides her scent he will sniff her out.
“Ma, we are here,” said her driver.
The car ride felt too short. She wasn't done gathering her thoughts but she stepped down when the passenger door opened.
She looked at the large mirror as she straightened her black sleeveless gown while also searching for an error, a reason to justify her going back home but she found none.
She showed her fawn and her invitation letter to the security members before she was allowed access.
After reading everything about Alpha Jackson and the Silver Moon pack, she knew she had to be bold, fearless, daring, diplomatic and firm when talking to Alpha Jackson about the peace treaty. But first she had to find the designated seat for the Moonlight pack.
As she walked towards the direction of her seat, she could feel every Alpha aura causing her to bow to them even when she did not want to.
Maverick pov
Alpha Maverick paced around the small room. This is the airport security room where the CCTV was being monitored. He had no power here since the airport was not owned by him but by one of his good friends. But once he called and asked his friend, all arrangements were made for him to check the CCTV.
He's been here for hours and they could not find out where Adeline disappeared to. He angrily smashed one of the monitors.
“Does that mean she disappeared from all the CCTV spots? Or the CCTV cameras are not positioned well?” He angrily asked.
“Sir, we will keep on trying,” responded the head of security.
“Alpha, it's time for the meeting. I think we should start moving now,” his Beta suggested.
“What meeting?” He asked with blazing eyes.
“The Alpha international meeting, Sir.”
“I never planned on attending, sending the Gamma. This is more important than any meeting.
“Done Alpha. He is already on his way to the venue. He said he knew you wouldn't be able to attend and was already prepared.”
“Always on alert just like his father.”
Adeline
As the meeting came to a successful conclusion. I searched around with my eyes looking for Alpha Jackson. He was one of the first speakers, and he talked about human hunters. I made sure my eyes were on him but somehow lost track of him.
A deep voice behind me said, "Looking for someone," which caused me to turn around.
“Alpha Jackson,” I gasped out loud, not believing my luck.
I have heard that someone has been looking for me and tracking my every move, and I believe it is you, Miss Adeline.
I took a deep breath and said, “Pardon my manners, Alpha Jackson,” I said as I bowed down a little showing my respect.
“What is the purpose of your frantic search?”
“I am from Moonlight pack, Alpha. I am doctor Adeline Whitlock.”
"So I have heard. Walk with me,” he said as he led the way.
He was the opposite of what Adeline had heard. Sure his facial expression was hard but at the same time attractive and she wondered how he could pull off that look.
He addressed her gently and respectfully, wanting to hear what she had to say.
While strolling alongside him in the crowded hall, I attempted to recollect my early rehearsal of what to say, but it all appeared disorganised, so I decided to speak from her heart.
“Alpha Jackson, our pack is a peaceful and trustworthy pack. The Moonlight pack was built and still growing on the foundation of honesty, equality and peace. Alpha Jay…” I suddenly froze as I felt an old connection.
Adeline Whitlock felt a familiar connection, the connection to her old pack and quickly turned around searching for who it was.
Her sharp werewolf eyes fell on the blond tall guy at the same time that he landed on her. It appears that her connection to her previous pack was never severed.
Standing across her was Gamma Gabriel, the older brother to her old confidante, Gina. He looked exactly like Gina, with the exception of the fact that he was the male version. This made her heart squeeze tightly, she left without saying goodbye to Gina because there was no time to.
As she stared hard at Gabriel she realised that he was mind linking somehow, perhaps his Beta or worse, his Alpha. She could not let Alpha Maverick see her, she reasoned as she quickly made her way towards the exit forgetting about Alpha Jackson.
But as she finally stepped out from the crowded hall she knew it was too late to flee now.
