Chapter 2.6

Christina Dobulski’s POV “f*****g s**t. Szar!” I cursed as I was typing on the computer. It was the most difficult s**t I have ever done. I don’t know why I cannot type so fast as I did on my laptop and why I was always making the same mistake all over? I wanted to cut my fingers. “Why can't I be efficient at least on this typing thing?” I asked myself as I was in front of the computer. I don’t know how long I have been here, but I think it might be evening right now. And I skipped lunch because I felt like I had to do these papers as soon as possible. At least Tony wanted it tomorrow, and I can do it tonight and did not sleep a wink. I might look like a hot mess tomorrow. Hope everything will be okay. I looked at the clock on the computer and it was 7 PM. I hoped that Tony had gone home as well as Nina. I hoped Nina did not tell Tony that I was sitting there. I stretched as I was getting up to release the cramp of my butt for sitting too long and my back for looking at the computer for too long. I was looking at the ceiling before I noticed that I was not switching on the lights and I saw the city of Milan was on display. “Woah,” I said as I was walking from the ceiling to the floor glass window before I touched it. It was magnificent and I dreamed of seeing it someday. And that someday was the day that I became Antonio Romano’s PA. And I hoped I would be the best that I could. “Do you love it?” Tony’s voice filled the void of the room as I turned toward the voice. It was coming from the door that connected our offices. “I thought you had gone home,” I said as Tony was walking toward the window and stood beside me. I looked at our reflection as he was taller and bigger, whereas I was timid and shorter than him, even though I was 5 feet 5 inches. “Well, I cannot let my PA be here all alone.” “You don’t have to do that. I have to do the papers and I think I might be staying here tonight,” I said as I turned to look at Tony. He stared at me before he went to the trolley that had his papers. He was looking at them before he took them and dumped them into the trash can. “What did you do that?” I barked at him before I went to dig some of the papers out. Yup, totally making myself look like a fool in front of my boss. Mission accomplished! “You don’t have to type them. I already have them on my computer. Now, you can go home,” he said as he went to the door. I was out of the trash can when I looked at his retreating figure. “So, you mean to tell me that I was wasting my time copying them, one by one?” I said as I was trying to control my anger. “Yup,” he replied before he turned to look at me. He smirked at me. I scoffed at him before I went to point my finger at his chest. “I think you should have mentioned that in the first place, next time this incident happens,” I gritted my teeth before Tony held the papers that he did not throw away. He arched his eyebrows at me. “But I need you to copy these. I don’t have my soft copy yet so, as my PA, you will be pulling the all-nighter after all,” he said as he smirked at me. I gritted at him before I wanted to slap him but he was out of the way and into his office. I was furious and angry. But I reminded myself that I needed to control my anger. I cannot let him win. I have to make sure that I was worthy enough to be his PA and maybe he will have some respect for what I did. “Someday, Christina, someday. You’re not your old self and when you are, you will not show mercy to him ever again,” I said as I went to the computer and started to write this stupid paperwork. Argh! Antonio Romano’s POV I was looking at the design for Giovanni’s cake and I thought it would be better if I just went with yellow and white. That would be perfect for them. Or should I be considering something else? “La~ la~ la~~~. Hmm, mmm~~~,” someone was humming and singing as I turned to see that Christina was arranging some papers that I told her to do. It was a nice voice as she was reading the papers and stacking them. “Hmm, mmm,” I cleared my throat as I was trying to get her attention. Where did she put her ears? On her knees? “Hmm, mmm,” I coughed a little louder before Christina looked at me and her face instantly on alert. It must be my murderous glare at her that she came running toward me right now. “Yes, sir?” She said as I arched my eyebrows. “It’s Tony, I’m not that old,” I said as she was biting her lower lips. I noticed that she did that a lot if she was nervous or afraid. “Sorry, Tony. Is there anything that you need?” She asked as her grey eyes were staring at my brown orbs. My heart melted at how big and pale her eyes were. It was a glorious sight and I think I would hate it if someone held her gaze other than me. Wait, what was happening to me?! “I would like some tea again. Make it right this time. Earl Grey with lemon and one cube of sugar,” I said as I was pointing my finger at her. She nodded before she scurried away to the pantry. I saw that Nina was arching her eyebrows at me before I rolled my eyes at her and went back to the cake. It had been one week since Lucca arranged his wedding to his duchess. And right now, he might be expecting some progress from me. f**k! I was having so much on my plate with Christina being a klutz and right then, my phone rang. I went to look at it and it was the duke himself. Speaking of the devil… “Hello?” “Antonio, my man. How’s the preparation going?” He asked as I was sweating right now. I knew I should not have said his name. Damn it! “Mr. Giovanni, dear, all the preparations were made. We only need your wedding date and the place of the wedding,” I lied as I was trying to make some excuse for my part. But he told me the great news that I wanted to hear. “Okay, the date will be 11 days from now. The location is at the Giovanni’s Empire Hotel,” he replied. I sighed inwardly as if the universe was on my side today. I wrote the information onto the notepad that was near me. “Very well, sir. Have a good day, ciao,” I said before I saw Christina taking some flowers into the office. Oh no, this can not be good. “Christina! What are you doing with that flower?!” I shouted and before I forgot that I was on the phone with the duke, I went to her side as I was worried that she might slip and cut herself. And once again, my mouth was a miracle. Christina turned to look at me before she stepped on the rug and tripped. I mean, how can someone like her be such clumsy and trip over the rug? My brain cannot comprehend what was going on in her mind right now. “Watch out!” I shouted as I was launching myself to protect Christina from her fall. And luckily, she landed on me as the vase of flowers was scattering on the floor next to us. “Szar!” She cursed in Hungarian as she went to look at the glass and the vase. I was terrified to see that she was collecting some of the glass before she hissed. “Ouch!” “Don’t touch it, you fool,” I said as I took her hands and inspected it. She had a cut on her finger before I shouted for Nina. “Nina, get the cleaner in my office. Tell them to clean the glass,” I said before I dragged Christina with me into the bathroom. “If one day you were not such a klutz, I swear I will donate some of my property to charity,” I said as I was directing her hand under the faucet. She hissed as if she wanted to take it away, but I held it still. “Stay still,” I said before I could sense that she was sniffing under her breath before I shut the faucet and I went to get the first aid kit before we were inside her office. I put her down on the sofa before I was opening the kit and I searched for antiseptic and put some of it onto the cotton ball. “Why can’t I do anything right?” She whispered as she sniffed. “I was wondering the same thing,” I said as I was looking at her. She was glaring at me. “This might hurt a bit,” I said as I was putting on the antiseptic and she hissed before I went to pull the band out and put it on. She was quiet all the time before I told her it was finished. “Done,” I said and, for the first time, I saw her wide grey eyes were bloodshot.
