Dangerously yours

CHAPTER SIX

While they attend to our orders everyone seems to direct their attention on me. I have been gone for a while so that's understandable. 

"Reid, now that you are home any major plans ?"  Jasmine lightly asks.

"Yes actually, I am opening a Rehabilitation center for veterans here in this town" 

"Wow, that's a very insightful venture to go into here" she replies. 

"Yes. My aim is to help and make it easier for men who where once soldiers transition from their years spent as military men to be civilians now." My voice becomes gruff with emotions. 

This is quite an emotional topic for me. It takes me back to memories to my bad days I don't want to think of. 

Finally the waiter brings our food and we dig in. 

I watch Skylar eat heartily. She has always had a healthy appetite. I laugh to myself, she could eat and eat and not get fat which was surprising because she ate all the time. 

I can't help but watch her. She suddenly glances at me and our eyes meet. We stare at each other for a while she then blushes and looks away. 

My gaze lands on Luke and i immediately feel guilt. I mean, this is his younger sister, she's supposed to be like a kid sister to me and I'm looking at her like I'm a hungry wolf and she's the meal that would sate me. 

I try to focus on my meal. The food is very tasty. The steak is roasted in butter and the burst of flavors in mouth is rapturing, the food practically melts in your mouth. 

We order a nice bottle of wine to go with the meal, have desserts, settle the check and soon we are set to go. 

Luke and Jasmine walk ahead leaving me and Skylar to walk behind.

With all the lightness I can muster I grab her hand In mine and rub with lightly with my thumb, she gasps. 

I Look into her bright green eyes the color of a bright spring day and say, "I didn't tell you but you look absolutely breathe-taking tonight."

"You don't look bad yourself" she looks up at my face and blushes. I tower over her so she has to constantly look up. I find that completely endearing. 

We step towards our cars and see Luke and Jasmine waiting for us by their car. They both came in Luke's Car. 

"I have a quick pickup at the bakery then I'll be going home" Sky mutters to Luke. 

 "It is very late, can't you do it tomorrow?" Luke asks his sister with concern etched on his face. 

"I know how to take care of myself, you should not have bother so much Lukey"  

"I'll trail behind her and  make sure she gets home safely, you can go drop Jasmine" I tell Luke. 

Sky scoffs and rolls her eyes and says, "I am a grown ass woman. I am capable of taking care of myself so thank you for the offer"

"This is not up for debate princess. Get in the car, we are taking mine."

"Alright thanks man" Luke says totally ignoring  Sky. 

"Bye Reid, it was nice meeting you today." Jasmine calls out.   

She lets out a grunt and walks to the passenger seat of my pick up truck while I say say goodbye.  

She looks so cute all rilled up. 

I open the door and help her get in. 

It’s going to be an interesting night.
