Dangerously yours

CHAPTER FIVE

I was an early bloomer so while boys my age in high school where still gangly and awkward teens I had hit a growth sprout and was about  five feet tall. My body started to fill out during the summer and I was working as a lifeguard and I hit the gym a lot at that time. 

I got used to the appreciative glances, catcalling and stares from women both young and mature. 

It was flattering. 

Women dig the dangerous military man vibes. 

I place a quick call to Robert. 

"Hey man, how's it?." I ask him.

"It's going good brother. I got home a couple of hours ago. It's good to back home." He says with a somber voice. 

"I know right. How is Serena and little Victoria?."  I ask about his Wife and his beautiful daughter. 

"They are all doing great." I can practically see the smile on his face. 

His wife and his Daughter are the absolute joys of his life. If you ask me they are the reason he survived and kept fighting on. 

This is also his last tour. He is home finally. He has plans to settle down, dig deep roots, have more children and open an Auto shop.

"Alright I'll let you get to it. Talk to you later man" he says. 

"My greetings to Your girls." I hang up. 

It's not going to be easy but eventually Robert will get his life on track. Losing a leg had dwindled the spark in his eyes, a funny jolly fellow who had  always told jokes and wild stories that were obviously lies but he was humored, the boys always laughed along. They had a lot of fun memories together. 

I look at the time and I grab the keys to my Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pick up truck. She is my baby and an absolute beauty. I had bought it during my last visit back home and Luke helped me take care of it while I was away. 

I lock up the house and walk to my car. I get in and start the car. I give a satisfactory grunt as it purrs to life. 

I back up and start the journey to the restaurant and also send Luke a quick text. 

I enfold Sky in a hug for few seconds I take a deep breath of her hair that smells of coconuts and pineapples. This is becoming my favorite scent already. 

I clear my throat and take my seat. 

As i settles down Luke returns from his phone call and apologizes for the interruption we engulfs me in a hug. 

I have missed my buddy. Yes we communicated as much as we could but it isn't the same. 

We have been friends for years and although we didn't take the same career paths and decisions we are  still brothers. 

"Reid, Have you met my girlfriend Jasmine?" Luke asks me with a love struck expression on his face.

"Yes I have. You are a very lucky dude" I reply smiling. 

"I believe I am." He replies gazing at Jasmine with a doe eyed look. 

Jasmine blushes lightly. 

"Are we all ready to order?" Luke asks the table. 

"Yes, I am going to be having the lobster and the strawberry cheesecake for dessert" Sky speak out loud for the first time.

Luke and I order the rare steak and their famous Strawberry cheesecake . 

Jasmine orders a Caesar salad without the dressings.
