CHAPTER EIGHT

792 Words
I clear my throat and fiddle with the Radio for a bit looking a song I like, they are playing Havana by Camilla Cabello. I hum along and drum with my finger tips on my legs, close my eyes as I get lost in the music. As the song ends I look at Reid to find him watching me.    "By the way,What are you going to pick up ?." He asks.    "The decorations for the final touches for a wedding cake I’m having delivered tomorrow, I would have called Heather to bring it over but it’s too late, she would have closed up already."   " We have not really had time to catch up on things and talk, you always had the passion for baking, I remember when your mum will let you make the biscuits and put it in the oven for you and we all had to eat them, that one time they were so hard it nearly broke Luke’s tooth." He says laughing.    "I remember you told me it tasted so good that you didn’t want to be selfish and eat it all alone so you were going to keep some for your dad, I was so pleased with myself." I reply also laughing out loudly.     "Fun days." He says smiling.   "I know, I got to use and Luke as my guinea pigs." I sat cheekily.   "We were quite happy to be used princess. There were good days. It’s a surprise we were not fat kids with the amount of sweets we got to eat." Reid replies me.    "Y’all couldn’t possibly have gotten fat with all the running around You did around the neighborhood ." I say with a small laugh.    "That’s true Princess, we were pretty wild back then weren’t we?." He chuckles.    "Yeah. You were quite a handful. Y’all are lucky I was always looking out for you and watching your backs." I say.    "Huh. That’s not the way I remember it. I was the one that had to get you out of trouble many times. If I remember correctly you got into a fight with the Drake’s kid; Josh, you bite him and hit is head with a tennis racket...!!" Reid says laughing.    "Well I wouldn’t have had to if he didn’t put bugs in my hair." I shout-yell laughing.    "I had to tell your mum that the mud stains on your hair and all over your dress was because you slipped and fell." Reid replied with a grin.    "Well thank you for that I would have received a spanking and would have been grounded if mother found out that I had been fighting." I say back to him.    "You have always been a force to be reckoned with princess."    "I know Reid."    "Well I am really glad you followed your dream and opened your bakery. You’ve always wanted that." He throws a glances at me   "Thanks Reid .That means a lot to me."    I give him a small smile.    “Here we are." Reid pulls into my bakery.    “‘Coco cakes and confectionery’, I like it." Reid smiles.    "I’m glad you like it soldier.” I reply .   "I won’t be long, I’ll just grab them from the back room and we can be on our way."   "Alright then, I’ll be waiting for you, if you need my help call out." He says.    "Sure, I’ll be only a minute" I hop out of the car, walk to the door and let myself in."    I hurry to the back room and take the decorations I made out of sugar and icing out of the cooler and gently set them in bags so they won’t break or crack. These took hours to form and perfect, they are so delicate any small jarring could break them. This bride asked for her cake to be a winter-land themed cake with ice crystals and ice sculptures.    I had the whole baking process moved to my house earlier this week because sometimes I have to work overnight to meet up with the delivery date.    With the amount of orders and booking we have been getting recently we are swamped. I know we don’t have to take every order we get but there’s something about hearing that bride tell you her dream cake and you knowing you can make their dreams come through that makes you want to do it. Heather has been telling me recently that we have to say No sometimes.
