CHAPTER 4
WILLA'S POV
it was battle of will and determination and there wasn't any way I'm going to let him win.
We'd agreed to meet and discuss but our lawyers, as if planned were running late. We've been seated for close to ten minutes, staring at each other, none of us ready to be the coward and look away.
A could see a smug smile creeping up the i***t's face.
"Are you sure it's the kids that brought you back?" He asked.
"What do you mean?"
He raised an eyebrow, a sly glint in his eye. "I'm not buying it, sweetheart. You're here for more than just catching up. You've been undressing me with your eyes all this time.."
I let out a dismissive laugh, rolling my eyes for good measure. "Don't get ahead of yourself, Damian. I wouldn't touch you with a ten-foot pole, even if you were the last man on earth."
But Damian just chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. He sauntered towards me, his movements fluid and deliberate. He spun my chair around, trapping me between his arms as he leaned in close. His hot breath whispered against my ear, sending shivers down my spine. "Are you saying you don't miss how I used to make you feel?" His teeth grazed the edge of my ear, and my breath caught in my throat.
caught in my throat as a shiver ran down my spine. I tried to push him away, but he held firm, his grip on the chair unyielding. "Damian, stop," I whispered, trying to sound firm but failing miserably. He chuckled, his hot breath sending tingles down my neck.
"You're not as immune to me as you think you are, sweetheart," he whispered back, his voice dripping with seduction.
I felt a flutter in my chest, but I refused to give in to the sensation. I pushed back against him, trying to create some distance between us. "Don't do that, Damian," I warned, trying to sound firm but my voice came out shaky.
He chuckled, his lips grazing against my earlobe, sending a flutter in my chest. "Oh, but I don't think you mean that," he whispered, his voice low and husky. I felt his eyes on me, burning with intensity, and I knew I was in trouble. I tried to push him away, but he was too strong, too persuasive. He leaned in closer, his mouth inches from mine, and I could feel the tension building but just as his lips were about to take mine, the door opened and both lawyers walked in.
Damian swiftly made his way back to his seat. The silence that followed was deafening with me trying to regain composure and the lawyers trying to understand what had happened.
"We're sorry for the delay, can we get started?"
"Hello, I'm Diane cooper, Miss Willa's lawyer." Diane introduced herself when they were seated.
“You are welcome, Please take a seat I don’t think I need to tell you who I am." Damian said. "And this is my lawyer, Thomson Reuters."
"So, Willa." He turned towards me. "To what do I owe this August meeting?"
“Stop bull shitting me, you received the email, I have nothing to explain to you” I said, anger clearly evident on my face. He was pissing me off.
“I guess we just have to sit and stare at each other then” He replied, taking a seat and staring at me.
“What do you think, Damian? I am here for my children” I fired.
"Your children?" He asked before bursting out laughing. "I know you are not talking about Alex and Lily. Have you got other kids I don't know about?"
Oh boy! If I could just knock that smug look off his face. "I know you're mad but I see it's getting worse. You've gone bonkers." I retorted pretending his words didn't get to me.
Thomas cleared his throat and sent a disapproving look towards us.
“Can you both be mature about this?" Diane said, sending disapproving look towards us. "We're only here because Miss Willa wants custody of her kids."
"And there is no way in hell I am letting this woman take my kids. That will only happen when I'm dead"
“Then you'd better start putting things in place for your funeral." I said, holding his gaze.
“Oh Willa! By God, do not dare me. You have no idea what I'm capable of." He threatened.
"You think you scare me? You're all bark but no bite."
I can see the shock in his eyes. I bet he didn't expect this bold confrontation from me.
"Look at you, you're in no way fit to take care of kids." He said. I knew he was referring to how I was dressed.
"And you're in no way in the position to tell me what I can and cannot do."
"Can't you see that she is not in the right shape to take care of my children?" He said to Diane."look how she's dressed. She'll corrupt my kids." He added
"Oh! Really? You can't deny you want this so bad but it'll only be in your dreams. You and I both know I will be a better parent that you.."
“You want to be a parent to the kids you abandoned for four years? Huh? The kids who can’t recognize who you are anymore? Or the kids you don’t know what their favorite meal is, now tell me how you can be a better parent to them?” he fired at me, then he turned to face his lawyer. "I am not letting her have my kids."
“I don’t care how you want to do Damian, but I will have custody of my kids,” I said.
"Look here Willa, I am a very busy man and I don't have time to exchange words with you. I see you're not ready to settle. I guess we'll see in court." He said.
“You f*****g asshole! Court it is then” I yelled.
"I guess there's no need to push further. Since we agree to meet in court, we'll need the proof of your divorce. Any of with it?"
