  27 “Hey,” Pilar said softly. Jack just stared at her. His eyes wild and his hair disheveled. His tie pulled loose, but still hanging around his neck. She knew it was a strange word to use for a man, but Jack was real in that moment. He wasn’t hiding who he was. Pretending to be someone he wasn’t.
