Eliza's home

1374 Words
As she surveyed her surroundings in her cabin, she decided it was time to go back home. She picked up her backpack and packed it with all the essentials she would need for her journey. After several hours of driving, Eliza reached the edge of the Moondance pack’s territory. She parked her car far enough to avoid confrontation, ready to tackle the rough terrain ahead. As Eliza hiked through the dense forest, she finally reached the quaint cabin deep within the woods. She took a moment to breathe in the fresh mountain air and soak in the stunning scenery around her. She quickly unpacked and set up for the ritual to be done at sunrise. The following day, Eliza woke up early and prepared to leave. She stood in the center of her quaint cabin, surrounded by flickering candles and the scent of incense wafting through the air. She wore a long, flowing robe adorned with intricate symbols and a hood that cast shadows over her face. She lit a small brazier with a steady hand, letting the smoke from the herbs inside fill the room. She closed her eyes and focused her mind, feeling the energy around her build. She knew the portal was now open when she felt a change in the energy surrounding her. It was time for her to step through. She stood in a clearing deep in the forest's heart when she stepped out of the portal on the other side. A familiar voice greeted her. “Sister,” one of them says, “we were not expecting you. We haven’t heard from you in so long.” And just like that, the White Witch questioned her decision to seek help from her coven. The coven was nestled deep in the woods of Western Canada, hidden from the outside world by giant sequoias. The Solaris coven was a tight-knit group of witches who practiced their craft with the utmost devotion. Each member brought their unique talents and abilities to the coven; together, they were a formidable force. Amara was the coven's High Priestess. Eliza took in a deep breath, trying to steady herself. “I know I’ve been away for a long time. There is much to discuss, sisters, and I would appreciate your time and openness.” The witches exchanged a worried glance, sensing the seriousness of Eliza’s tone. They followed her to the council room, settling around the large oak table. The room was dimly lit by candles, casting shadows across the walls and floor. They gathered the other coven members around a large table in the center of the room. “Eliza, speak, my child,” one elder said softly, “what are you doing here? How can we help you?” Eliza paused momentarily, taking in the sight of her coven mates. They looked just as she remembered them, dressed in flowing robes and adorned with charms and talismans. But there was a tension in the air that she couldn’t quite place. “I… I needed to come back,” Eliza said, her voice soft. “But before I go into the details of my reason for visiting you, I must come clean about the past ten years. Although for witches, ten years is barely noticeable, they seem to have been the longest years for me in a long time.” The other witches exchanged glances, curious about what Eliza meant. One of them, Enid, stated coldly. “You do have some explaining to do, Eliza. You disappeared without a trace. We were worried sick about you for the longest time.” “I know, my sister. I’m sorry,” Eliza offered while looking at the floor. Eliza shifted uneasily, knowing that her absence had likely caused great concern among her coven mates. “I’ve been… travelling, here and there, but mostly in North Eastern Ontario,” she said vaguely. “But I’m back now and have something important to tell you. I need your help, sisters.” The witches reluctantly agreed, feeling manipulated. “All right,” one of them said. “What is it?” Eliza took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves. She knew what she was about to say would likely be met with disbelief and suspicion, but she had to try. “My dear sisters, several years ago, I crossed paths with Alpha Victor of the Blood Moon pack, and my life has taken a dark turn since then. During one of my travels, I found myself in a small town offering healing services. It was then that I heard about a string of violent attacks that had been happening in the nearby woods. I sensed something supernatural might be at play, and my curiosity got the best of me. I ventured into the woods to investigate. It wasn’t long before I stumbled upon Victor, the Blood Moon Alpha, who was interrogating what I thought was a rogue werewolf his pack had captured. His commanding presence and raw power immediately struck me. Victor wanted to kill me because of what I had seen. He decided he wanted me to do his bidding for my life. I had to provide him with a way to contact me whenever he wanted to call in a favour. Six years ago, Victor called on me to create a field around his pack to prevent a she-wolf prisoner from escaping. I knew little about the she-wolf or why she was being held captive, but I did as Victor asked. I thought that would be enough to repay my debt to him. But it wasn’t enough. Three years ago, Victor’s Luna was bitten by a rogue during an attack and was poisoned. Something I have never seen, the Luna could not heal from the rogue’s bite. Victor called on me to save her, but I couldn’t. I did everything I could, but it wasn’t enough. And now, Victor wants me to be in his debt forever. But I won’t be cowed by his threats or his demands anymore. The she-wolf he was holding prisoner escaped recently. I never knew who she was. Victor didn’t want me to. I feel there is more to that story, but I can’t quite put the puzzle together. That is why I am here today, to ask for your support and your guidance as I navigate this complicated situation.” She stopped for a moment, taking in their reactions to her story. A first member of the coven spoke up. “That’s quite a story.” Eliza replied hesitantly. “It’s just the way things work with Alphas. They see everything as a transaction, and they expect to be paid back for any favours they do. And he believes he could kill me at any moment. He’s a powerful Alpha and has ways of ensuring I remember my debt to him.” An elder spoke up, “We understand, Eliza. Is there anything else you can tell us about the she-wolf you hid for the past six years and how she escaped?” Eliza continued, “I know little. I don’t know why she is important to him. He covets her like she’s a prize like no other. What struck me the most about her were her eyes. They were piercing blue, reminiscent of a blue moon.” The witches listened intently, their expressions turning solemn as Eliza spoke. One witch asked her, “Tell us more about her wolf.” “Interestingly, I’ve never seen her shift. I don’t know why a she-wolf of her age would not shift. She’s undoubtedly older than 18. I remember feeling sorry for her, being a prisoner. Since my powers are weak, it may have inadvertently made a hole in my field, and she could leave. That’s why I’ve come to you, my sisters. I need your support, your guidance, and your strength. Together, we can face any challenge that comes our way. And who knows? Maybe we’ll uncover the truth about Alpha Victor and his obsession with the she-wolf.” The other witches exchanged troubled looks, but before anyone could say anything else, they heard a loud gasp and a teacup shattering on the ground.
