CHAPTER 3: FROM THE PAST   JADE didn't know what to do. She stayed still as she sat in the waiting area. Her body is covered with blood as her hands tremble with fear. What happened made her almost lose her consciousness. But lucky enough, a man came out of the bar and helped him save the man who's following her.     Everything would not have happened if Jade stayed home while sipping hot milk with her cute puppy, Asher, who loves to cuddle in her arms whenever she watches her favorite late-night show. But here she is, trembling with fear as she waited for any information if the creepy handsome man was dead, in a critical condition, or extraordinary. Well, the third option was just something to at least calm her down.       Earlier, she could recall that as soon as her shift ended, her friend Keyaria dragged her into her condo unit and lend her a piece of clothing that her body approvingly disapproved of wearing. But because her dear exhausted girl best friend is persistent for a friend's presence, she had no choice but to take a quick shower, wear the super revealing outfit, and accompany her into the bar.     Keyaria Ladell is one of her closest friends since high school; Because of the bond they shared, Everything was already hard to turn down her friend. Because when a friend turned into a sister, Everything is nothing but happiness. It hurts so much when Keyaria was a b***h for almost a month now because her ex-boyfriend ended their long term relationship. Get this; he even told her that she's a boring old granny! Who wouldn't get mad if they're referring to a friend, sister rather, right?      And now that she thinks about it, her burrowed gorgeous sexy dress was already covered with red stains, hiding the real beauty that the outfit possessed. She slowly and tirelessly brushed her face with her stained hands as if trying to wash any emotion away from her face. She doesn't want to look scared, worried, or anything.     What happened earlier started playing like a broken record in Jade’s mind, reverberating spontaneously, and no one would stop it from creeping inside Jade’s head. The images and the screams of witnesses became a lullaby of a nightmare, singing Jade ofo sleep. Just by the thought of it, blood everywhere, she can't help but feel nauseous, making her stomach twisted and unhelpful of the matter. The blood in Jade’s hands dried already, which means that she's been staying there for long, letting the cold air from the hospital aircon numb her skin.     As she stayed seated in the waiting area, Jade can't help but wonder why the man kept on calling her Alicia or Ali. She's sure that she never met any woman with the name Alicia before, and take note; her name is Jade, not Alicia.   Jade knew that she didn't do anything wrong, and Everything that had happened was just an accident. Jade left the area because it felt right to leave. Besides, she's scared of the man. She wanted to leave the hospital to go and find Keyaria, but she can't convince herself to stand up and leave the hospital where the man is admitted and in a critical condition.     When the O.R door swung open, she immediately stood up, but the man who helped her earlier was the first to approach the doctor.   She can't help but get worried, so she stood up beside the man she thinks is a close friend of the man inside the operating room. What if his condition is critical? What if he's already on life support? Or if he's in a comatose and there's no assurance, when will he wake up? Or worst, he's already gone?   She shrugged the thought away as she listened carefully to the doctor.      "Are you related to the patient?" the doctor asked the man, and he nodded his head in response like Everything is normal, and they should not be worried about anything.      "The patient is in a stable condition now. Luckily enough, the accident caused him minor head injury, arm and legs, and scrape and cuts that will heal in no time. I suggest you call his parents to notify them of what happened." The doctor then departed as one of the nurses approached them and handed a sealed plastic to the man beside her.     She saw a phone and a necklace inside of it. The accident immensely damaged the phone, and there's no chance that someone can open it. She's also sure that the phone cost more than her salary every month. Perks of being wealthy, she guessed. And when her eyes landed on the silver necklace, she noticed two circular objects attached to it. Both of them have fine-sized legit diamonds attached to them that sparkles whenever a ray of light peaked on them. And as she silently stared at it, she became sure that those circular objects were rings.      Could it be that those rings belong to the man and the woman he’s talking about-Alicia, right? Did they break up or something? She can't help but ask herself. But before she could even continue to wonder, the man looked at him with a drastic yet pained expression on his face.      "After breaking his heart and leaving him alone like that, do you seriously think that everything will just be all right to just show up in front of him?"     "W-what?"      "All he ever wanted was to be with someone who will never hurt him. Someone he wished to start a family. Someone who will always be enough no matter what. And that someone pertains to you! And here you are," She silently stared at him as the man started to walk towards her. His steps were heavy and scary. Every step he took means danger and Jade doesn't know what to do.      "Sir, you are mistaken. I'm not quite following what you're talking about." Her voice was shaking as she took a few steps backward, trying to avoid Sceven's eyes.      "After shoving a divorce paper in front of him, what do you feel? Are you overwhelmed that you're finally free? Excited that you were able to look for another man? I bet you're happy." His words were heavy. It was full of anger and rage, and Jade bet that this man can kill her!      What did Alicia do? Is she the victim here, or is she the one on the wrong side? Is Alicia the one to be blamed?    "Please-" but before Jade can utter another word, the man engages towards her and hardly pushed her against the wall, causing a loud thud. She writhes in pain as she felt the pain in her back. The man then grabbed her by the shoulder and stared deeply into her eyes.      "Please what? You should be happy that you finally get what you wanted! And now, you just showed in here as nothing happened?! For what? To see Eisen miserable while you're enjoying your unmarried life?!" Jade cannot follow what the man is saying. She knew that she doesn't see a man naming Eisen and she's never been married to anyone! What is wrong with this man?    "I will make you pay, Alicia."      "You are mistaken. I am not Alicia!" Jade shouted in defense. Now, she understands Everything. This man in front of her is accusing her of hurting the man lying on the hospital bed. She understands now the reason why this Eisen guy keeps on calling her Alicia. Because Alicia and Eisen were married, but they finally separated!   "Sceven. She's not Alicia. Stop scaring the woman and leave her alone." So, Sceven is his name?   "What?" Jade was able to breathe when Sceven let go of her. His gaze landed on another man who just arrived at the hospital.    "What do you mean she's not Alicia?"   And when Sceven finally let go of her, her eyes landed on the man in front of them; eyes were tired and full of sadness.    "Because she used to be someone I know."   She gasps as soon as she recognized who he was. For six long years, she never thought that he's already standing in from her once again. "L-lewis?"      "Long time no see."                 __________  "WHAT happened." She shivered as soon as she heard his best friend's scold voice. Lewis was standing in front of her, not even bothered her and Sceven's appearance. She meets Lewis in the eyes before answering his question.     "It was a black car that runs into him on the road." She said almost into a whisper but enough for the two gentlemen to hear. She can't make herself stop trembling because of fear. She never thought that she'd caught up in a situation like this.      "Are you able to identify the driver?" Sceven was the one to ask this time as if trying to break down the tension between them. His voice was deeper and colder than Lewis. But both men were scaring her a bit. A part of her was still scared at Sceven, but most of what she's feeling towards him is nothing but anger.      "My attention is fully darted into-"      "Eisen?"      "Yes. I focused my attention on Eisen when the accident happened. He was my main concern at that time, so I have no time to even blink an eye at him. I'm sorry if I have not proven myself useful." Silence then cowers between the three of them after Jade put a period on her sentences. She thought that silence would forever reign before Eisen gained back his consciousness, but Lewis cursed out before massaging his temples.   Lewis then heaves a deep sigh before excusing himself and walking towards a direction that she's not sure where it will leads.      "I should have seen it was coming," Sceven said, still standing up from beside her and marched out of the area, dispersing from the sides and corners of the hospital. When Sceven is already gone, Jade found herself sobbing nonstop, like a kid who lost her five peso coin.     If she could've been a little bit alert, she would've seen the plate number of the car and prove herself useful even just for once. The vehicle has no lights on, and the surrounding was a bit dark, a great place to do sinister motives against someone who only wished to party until dawn. And one more thing, Everything happened at a speed of light just before her eyes, so she wasn't able to react faster.     She was stunned. When the car is out of sight, that's the only chance she got to react and take in Everything that happened. She rushed towards the man lying on the floor in a blink of an eye. Luckily enough, Sceven came to the rescue and rushed them to the hospital.      "Il est déjà stable, Maman (He's already stable, mom)." Jade immediately wiped away her tears as soon as she heard a voice fast approaching where she's standing.    "Il ira bien, je le promets. (He'll be fine, I promise)." She doesn't understand what Lewis is saying but based on his expression; he seems worried and sad. The way he raked his fingers on his hair, she knew that Lewis was bothered. He may be good at acting all so tough and fearless, but when it comes to family, he became vulnerable as a glass.      "Nous attendrons votre arrivée, maman. fais attention s'il te plaît (We'll be waiting for your arrival, mother. please be safe)." he ended the call and met Jade's eyes. They stayed quiet for a while as if measuring each other. But then, Lewis walks toward her, and a bitter-sweet smile plastered on his lips.      "What an unexpected situation to meet you again, miss Guevara," Lewis coldly asserted as he stared at her. It pains her so much to see Lewis giving her cold shoulders. She knows that the moment Lewis transferred school without even saying goodbye to her. Everything has already changed.      And yet, here she was, hoping that their friendship before will stay as it is.      "Yes, it was quite unexpected to see you here, Mr. St. Clair." She stood up from where she is seated and walked towards Lewis. But the moment she stood up, she felt sudden vertigo, causing her almost to lose her balance.      "Are you all right, miss Guevara?" Lewis never called her Miss Guevara before. He would never be too formal whenever they hang out together. And now, graduating at      "Yes. I bet I should leave you be, now." And as she takes a few steps away from Lewis, her head started to spin, causing her knees to wobble. Her vision started to get blur along with her ears to hear a deafening sound. She felt lightheaded as her body felt like floating in the air. She was waiting for her body to hit the cold tiles as the darkness cowers.
