Chapter 13: A Moment of Celebration "Well," Mr. Henderson muttered, adjusting his glasses as he read the specific bylaw Zara had highlighted. "According to section four... you do actually fit the criteria for an educational charity. The medical tech objection is waived." He picked up a heavy red stamp, pressed it into an ink pad, and slammed it down onto their application. APPROVED. "Take this down to the cashier on the first floor to pay the filing fee before five o'clock, and the building lease is yours," Mr. Henderson said, finally offering a small, tired smile. "Good luck with the kids." Zara felt a gasp of pure joy escape her throat. They grabbed the papers, thanked the clerk, and practically sprinted down the hallway toward the elevators. They made it to the cashier's window with ten minutes to spare, handing over the paperwork and paying the fee. When they finally walked out of the office and back into the main lobby, the heavy weight of the past two weeks vanished. "We did it!" Zara cried out, turning to Zayd. Without thinking, driven by pure excitement and relief, Zayd took a step forward and reached out to hug her. Zara stepped in too—but just before they touched, they both froze. The reality of their "strictly professional" rule rushed back into the space between them. Zayd quickly pulled his arms back, his cheeks turning a bright crimson. Zara dropped her hands to her sides, her heart fluttering wildly, and not just from the excitement of winning the lease. "I mean... Alhamdulillah," Zayd cleared his throat, looking down at the receipt in his hand. "Praises be to God. We saved the building." "Alhamdulillah," Zara whispered, her cheeks burning beneath her hijab. She looked at Zayd, realizing that keeping her heart out of this partnership was becoming completely impossible.
