Chapter 7: Code and Compassion "Look at this module," Zayd said, turning his laptop toward Zara. The screen was filled with colorful lines of code and a clean, user-friendly dashboard template. "I designed this specific portal for the parents. When a child finishes a session at your clinic, the therapist logs the data, and the parents get an instant, easy-to-read update on their phone. It includes daily encouragement and a short video tip on how to support their child's learning at home." Zara stared at the screen, her heart swelling. She felt a sudden prickle of tears in her eyes and quickly looked away to hide them. "Zara?" Zayd’s voice softened, his brow furrowing with concern. "Is it too complicated? I can change the layout if you don't like it." "No, it's not that at all," Zara whispered, clearing her throat. She looked back at him, her eyes bright. "It's perfect, Zayd. Truly perfect. Parents of children with special needs often feel so isolated and overwhelmed. By giving them this portal, you are giving them hope and a community. You are doing beautiful work." Zayd went quiet. He looked down at his keyboard, a subtle blush creeping up his neck. "I just... I watched my younger cousin struggle for years," he admitted softly, his voice thick with emotion. "The schools didn't understand him. My aunt used to cry every night because she didn't know how to help him. I promised myself back then that if I ever got the skills, I would build something to make sure another mother doesn't have to cry alone." Zara watched him, deeply moved. In that quiet moment, the project stopped being just a business plan. She realized Zayd’s heart was completely aligned with hers. He wasn't just building an app; he was practicing his faith through his work.
