Chapter 19: The Aftermath of the Storm Zara sank back into her chair, covering her burning face with her hands. "This is a disaster," she groaned through her fingers. "By tonight, Auntie Yasmin will have called my mother. By tomorrow morning, the entire community will think we are getting married next month. Our professional boundaries are completely ruined." Zayd sat back down, running a tense hand through his hair. He looked deeply stressed, but beneath the anxiety, there was a strange look of determination in his eyes. "Zara, look at me," he said firmly. She lowered her hands, her cheeks still flushed with embarrassment, and looked at him. "Are they really ruined?" Zayd asked, his voice steady and calm. "Or are we just hiding behind the word 'professional' because we are both too terrified to admit what is actually happening here?" Zara felt her heart skip a beat. "What do you mean, Zayd?" "I mean that I am tired of pretending this is just about software and clinic leases," Zayd said, leaning forward, his eyes burning with absolute sincerity. "I set those boundaries because I didn't want to pressure you, and I didn't want to ruin your dream. But the truth is, Zara, I have fallen completely in love with your mind, your character, and your beautiful heart. I don't want to be just your business partner anymore. I want to be your husband. I want to support you, build this clinic with you, and stand by your side for the rest of my life, if you'll have me." The café seemed to stop moving entirely. The confession hung in the air, beautiful, terrifying, and utterly life-changing.
