Chapter 20: The Decision to Move Forward Zara sat in stunned silence, tears of overwhelming happiness gathering in the corners of her eyes. The uncertainty that had plagued her for weeks completely evaporated, replaced by the profound peace she had felt after praying her Istikhara. Allah had answered her prayer. "Zayd," she said, her voice shaking with emotion, a radiant smile finally breaking across her face. "I was so scared that my dreams would get in the way of a real relationship. But you are my dream. I don't want to hide behind boundaries anymore either. I want to build a life with you." Zayd let out a breath he seemed to have been holding for weeks, a massive, brilliant smile lighting up his face. For a moment, they just sat there, smiling at each other, the mutual respect and love between them stronger than ever. "So," Zayd said, his tone turning playful though his eyes remained deeply serious. "Since Auntie Yasmin is definitely calling our mothers right now... what do you say we beat her to the punch?" Zara laughed, wiping a happy tear from her cheek. "What do you have in mind?" "I think it's time I call your father," Zayd said proudly, closing his laptop and packing it into his bag. "But this time, it’s not because my mother forced me to. I’m going to ask him for your hand in marriage for real. Let's go home and tell our families the 'business plan' is officially a success." Zara stood up, packing her bags with a lighter heart than she had ever possessed. They walked out of the café together, stepping into the bright afternoon sun, ready to face their families and start the real journey toward their future.
