CHAPTER FIVE

1180 Words
I freshen up and headed off to bed, still thinking about what Dad said to me today. Gosh, I am in so much distress from this what am I going to do? I decided to start to watch a movie so I can get my mind of some things. The movie was good, then after some few minutes of watching I feel asleep. I woke up the next morning, so tired and so stressed. I went up to my sister room and I saw her sleeping, I really hope she had a good date and she has to tell me everything that happened, I smiled and turned back and got dressed and headed up to work. I went to my office finished some work and then I my dad came to my office. “ Hello, Dad Good morning”. I said knowing what he came her for. “So Abigail, have you thought about what I told you yesterday and what is your desicion”. He asked “Well, I am still thinking about it. I really don't know what to do”. I said with a stressed tone. “Well, I just need you to make your desicion quick because he is going to be coming tomorrow to see you to get ready for the marriage plans. “What!!!?? How could you go ahead without my consent. Do you know how this would affect me. Marrying someone I have little to no knowledge about. How could you??”. I said with tears rolling down from my cheeks. I couldn't believe that this was happening. “ I am sorry, Abigail but I had to do it. I was helpless. I worked so hard for this company just to see it come crashing down. I just had to Abigail, put yourself in my shoes and it is a two years contract marriage, please for the sake of the business accept it”. He said looking down while tears still flooding my eyes like a kid. “ Please think about it abigail”. He said while he walked out of the office. I know he felt bad for me and I understand the tight corner he was in but at the same time I couldn't hide the fact that I was hurt. I quickly packed up my things and went home. I couldn't stand for any longer I was in so much pain. I went into the house and I saw Abigail. She noticed my mood and meet me in my room. “ Sis, what is going on, why do you look like this?”. She asked looking concerned about the whole issue. “ Dad has set me up for a contract marriage with an influential investor”. I said to her . She looked confused “ I don't understand what you mean”. I explained everything to her and Sarah looked stunned. “ All these was happening and no one tried to tell me”. She asked looking disappointed and shocked. “ Sorry sis, it happened so fast but right now I don't know what to do”. I said looking so confused and tired. “ Go and freshen up and have a good rest and we will handle it”. She reassured me and I headed off to my room and eventually slept off due to the stress. It was the next day and I decided to face my reality and have to sacrifices just to help my father. He has don so much for me after the Death of my mother and I must make him a happy. After a few hours, my father called me that the investor is here to see me. IAs I walked down the hallway, my heart pounded like a war drum. I couldn’t believe this was happening. A contract marriage? To save the company? I felt like I was walking into a trap I didn’t build but was being forced to live in. When I reached the boardroom door, I paused for a moment to gather myself. Whatever happens, stay calm, Abigail. Be composed. I opened the door slowly. My father was already seated on one end of the table, and sitting across from him facing away was the man. The investor. He turned around. I froze. No. It couldn’t be. He rose from his seat, his piercing eyes locking onto mine. A knowing smirk danced across his lips. Him. The man from the club. The one who held me like I was the only woman in the world. The one whose name I never knew. The one I thought I would never see again. “Abigail,” my father said, his voice slicing through the tension. “Meet Mr. Ryan Williams.” Ryan. Of course he had a name. A name that now meant much more than I ever anticipated. “Nice to meet you… officially,” he said, extending his hand. I stared at it for a moment, fighting the storm inside me. I took it, our skin brushing familiar and electric. I saw the spark in his eyes. He knew. He remembered. “You!” I finally said, my voice barely above a whisper. “You’re the one…” Ryan’s smirk deepened, and he leaned in slightly. “I was wondering how long it would take you to realize. Fate has a twisted sense of humor, doesn’t it?” I pulled my hand back, stunned and speechless. My father, oblivious to the unspoken history between us, continued. “Mr. Williams has agreed to all terms. You both will sign a two-year contract marriage agreement. It’s strictly professional, of course. After two years, you’re free to walk away.” “Strictly professional?” I echoed, shooting Ryan a sharp look. Ryan leaned back in his chair. “If that’s what you want, Abigail.” His voice was calm, but the challenge in his eyes told a different story. This wasn’t just about business. Not anymore. I turned to my father. “Can we have the room?” He nodded and quietly excited, leaving Ryan and me alone. “You planned this,” I said once the door closed. “I didn’t plan fate,” he said casually. “But when I saw your photo, I couldn’t walk away from the opportunity.” “You don’t even know me.” “I know enough. Enough to know that night wasn’t just nothing. And judging from the way you’re reacting, you know it too.” I clenched my fists. “So you want to trap me into a fake marriage to get your business deal.” “Call it what you want. But this deal saves your father’s company… and mine.” The silence between us thickened. I hated that he was right. I hated that I still remembered his touch. I hated that a part of me didn’t entirely hate the idea. “This is n’t over,” I said coldly. Ryan smirked. “Oh, Abigail… it’s just beginning.”
