“Ugh... five more minutes…”
A typical reaction from a student who didn't want to wake up. Noah, like always, hit snooze and turned to the other side, pulling the blanket over his head.

.
Five minutes later…
The alarm rang again.
Seventeen-year-old Noah groaned and lazily reached for his phone. He had spent the entire night texting friends from other schools, hyped about the school trip. After all, he missed last year’s trip because of a silly cold.
Just as he turned off the alarm, the bedroom door burst open.
“Brother!!”
An adorable ten-year-old boy stepped inside. His fluffy brown hair was dripping wet, and he wore a bunny bathrobe with a towel hanging over his shoulder. It looked like he had just stepped out of the bath.
He stared at his sleeping brother.
“Wake up! You’re going to be late!”
Noah groaned. “What time is it?”
“It’s 8:28.”
“WHAT?!”
Noah bolted upright.
“Dan, is that true?” he asked, frantically checking his phone.
It was true.
Despite setting multiple alarms—7:00, 7:10, 7:20—he’d slept through them all!
Panic surged through him. He jumped out of bed, grabbed his clothes, and ran into the bathroom.
Minutes later, he rushed out fully dressed, grabbed his luggage for the three-day school trip, and dashed out the door.
Dan watched him go, worried. “I hope he makes it…”
---
Noah sprinted as fast as he could. No chauffeur today—the staff had the day off. His parents? Out on a business trip.
“Damn it! Why is there not a single cab?!”
When he finally reached the school gate, the buses were already leaving.
He was late.
Checking his phone—2% battery.
“Sigh…”
This just wasn’t his day.
Too tired to walk home, Noah turned toward the school.
STAR ACADEMY — one of the top institutions in the country. The elite. Noah had attended since middle school and was now continuing high school there.
“Maybe someone’s still here. I could borrow a charger…”
He noticed a familiar bike parked outside.
“The school nurse?” he guessed. “Guess I’ll wait in the nurse’s office.”
---
CRAAAASH!!!
A loud noise echoed from the second floor.
“What was that? Someone else here?”
Curious, Noah followed the sound to Class 2-1.
He peeked inside.
A tall boy was standing unsteadily, surrounded by fallen desks.
His breathing was ragged, sweat dripping down his face.
“Hey! Are you oka—”
Before he could finish, the boy staggered forward and grabbed him.
CRAAASH!!!
Both of them collapsed to the ground.
“Agh! That hurt...”
Noah winced, pain blooming at the back of his head. He slowly looked up—and his eyes widened.
Lucas.
His rival.
Usually cold, composed, and emotionless, Lucas now looked like a different person. Wild eyes, flushed face, unstable breath.
“His scent… bourbon and vanilla… it’s suffocating…”
A sudden realization hit him.
Lucas was in rut.
But why me?
Panic surged through Noah. He tried to push Lucas away—but it was useless. Lucas was stronger, and something about him was off.
“Lucas! You bastard! Get off me!”
But Lucas didn’t respond. His eyes were glazed with desire. He pinned Noah down with one hand, his other hand trailing beneath Noah’s shirt.
“S-Stop! I’m not an omega! I’m an alpha!!”
Noah’s voice cracked in fear.
Lucas didn’t hear him.
Didn’t care.
And in that moment, Noah knew.
This summer… would never be forgotten.
Because it was the day he discovered the biggest lie of his life—
He was never an alpha.
