The Jester and The Apprentice

Bond is a four-letter word which is the same as connection, attachment and companionship. Soul is a four-letter word which is the immaterial or spiritual aspect of an animal or human that is thought to be eternal. What if soul and bond have a deeper meaning which has been hidden within ourselves a long time ago? When uncovered, it may bring chaos or peace? In this story, certain individuals uncover the secret and greatly change the course of life, and it starts with a young boy who wishes only to have a normal life and family. His name is Kelsey, an orphan of 23 yrs. Old with an average build and work at a local convenience store a cashier. Ordinary and simple work in the eyes of others, but no one knows that it's tiring work if you are only one, but Kelsey manages to survive day by day. The only reason why he manages to make it is his boss, Marie, who he adores a lot. One morning while opening the store, a car stopped in front of Kelsey. The window slowly went down, revealing a brunette with brown hair with thick framed sunglasses. "Hello boss, good morning may I help you?" Greeted by Kelsey to his boss," I need you to stay up to 7 pm as I'm expecting a delivery later as we need to restock some items inside"Marie said and drove right away. Kelsey sighed and murmured "staying till night, huh! Why not just date me, and we stay up all night!". He smiles but takes back his words, "If that happens, then it is a dream, since who will fall for someone like me, less attractive, no achievement, and worse, I'm poor, and she is rich". "A classic tragic one-sided love story I guess it is better to work my ass off to fill my stomach" Kelsey continued to murmur while opening the door and grabbed a broom to clean the store. The hour went by so quickly that it was dark already. Kelsey made an inventory and closed the shop as he did all the necessary preparation for tomorrow. While walking, he notices someone is following him, but he just shrugged. The unknown person gets close to the back of Kelsey and points a knife. "Give me your money and phone! Now!" The unknown person said to Kelsey in a low tone to avoid any passersby noticing. Kelsey was a bit nervous but slowly gave him his phone and reached for his wallet in his bag and gave, "Here is all I have right now," Kelsey said, and handed him all his belongings while shaking and very nervous that something might happen to him if he didn't cooperate. The robber gets his belongings eagerly and checks the money in the wallet. While Kelsey is waiting for the robber to let him go, the phone notifies him, and it opens the phone for him, which reveals the robber's masked face, but the robber continues to count money. Kelsey has succumbed to his intrusive thoughts and tries to snatch it. The light from the phone reveals a man who is in his late 30s and now is shocked that his face was revealed to Kelsey. He was furious and stabbed Kelsey in the side and ran along with his belongings. Kelsey is awfully wounded, blood gushing and a light across the next street is getting faint. A mix of purple and white light was slowly approaching Kelsey. "Poor kid, I guess that is how the world treats the people who play fair in this ...." The voice slowly faded, and it became quiet and dark. A ringing buzz of an alarm wakes Kelsey even when he feels dizzy. He gets up and loses balance, and later he trips and lays his back on the floor again. Kelsey now irritated me, getting up and grabbing his phone and he found it was the first day off of the week. Kelsey goes to his kitchen and brews a coffee.“ add some sugar cubes” a faint voice whispered in Kelsey’s. “Who is there?!” While searching the whole room to see if someone is inside. After searching the kitchen, Kelsey found no one and decided to take a seat and sip a coffee. “What a bitter coffee!” A faint voice but now a loud one and it startles Kelsey and falls from the chair. A ball of light comes out on his chest and emitting purple white lite and begins to materialize into a humanoid structure. After the bright light flashing it reveals a royal jester with a metallic armor in some part of the armor. “Aahh! Monster!!” Kelsey screams in the top of his lungs, grabs the spill the coffee and aims to throw the cup to the mysterious figure.” Shut it! Its early morning, do you want to attract attention” screaming back to Kelsey.” Am I dreaming?” He asks himself while pinching his skin, and he confirms that it’s the reality. “Young man bare with me, My name is Toteliyey an aspiring jester killed because of the conspiracy on the throne, but now I prefer jest because it’s coo..” Jest was cut by Kelsey in the middle of his speech“ what are you to be exact ?” Ask by Kelsey with a concerning tone as he still can’t comprehend why this man is inside the house.” As I was saying my current name is Jest and a lost soul and now your guardian” Jest said while putting back the chair and taking a seat. “ A lost soul? A guardian ? Can you expla…” Kelsey continued to ask., but he was stopped by Jest saying” someone is coming.” Jest became a ball of light and merged with his body. Kelsey holds the table as he can't breathe, and it feels like someone has just punched him in the stomach. Kelsey heard someone knocking on the door. "Hey son, are you OK there?!" An old voice of a woman could be heard outside and kept on knocking . Kelsey opened the door and the old lady with a plastic Tupperware in her right hand. "Hey, Nay Lottie, good morning what brought you here?" Kelsey nervously asked to avoid any suspicion. "I heard you scream and your nanay Lottie was worried what happened to you, but I was also on the way here to bring you food for later" Nanay Lottie said while handing the Tupper filled with spinach, monggo beans and pork soup" Nay you have to do this anymore I have work and I can cook my food but thank you so much" Kelsey reassured but nanay Lottie stop him and scold him "like noodles?! I went to the province for a week and when I came back you looked like a twig" Kelsey smiled gently, as someone is still worried about him even that day." Nay, I'm eating well here, and I'm so sorry I haven't picked you up as I stayed late at the store" Kelsey apologized, but a sharp pain is lingering on his head but just ignore it. "It's OK, I also met some friends, and they dropped me off, but right I needed to go home as I was cleaning my house. The dust won't throw themselves out" Nay bid her farewell and Kelsey replied "I will freshen up and help you". Kelsey said and slowly closed the door and pat his head.
