Chapter 1 - Hold-up

1066 Words
Kaede’s POV "This is a hold-up. Give me your money right now, or you'll be bloody dead!" "Oh my God!! Please don't hurt me!! I only got a buck with me. You can check my wallet if you want, ” I said while handing him my wallet while my eyes were closed for being so scared. I'm Kaede Bartlett, a second-year Hotel Restaurant and Management student at Karluk University. I just got out from the university, and unlucky me, I was being hold-up. "Are you kidding me? The university you're studying is a school for rich people, and you're telling me that you don't have money? Impossible!" the hold-upper said angrily. He was holding my hand that was my wallet. "I'm just a scholar. So please, don't kill me, ” I plead, almost crying. I was so scared. It was my first time being hold-up since I've been to this place. I'm pleading for my life. I didn’t want to die. Not yet. "Don't be too formal. Jeez! We're at the same age. And why would I kill you? I’m not a killer, ” he scoffed. I felt relief when he said that he would not kill me. My eyes were still close and the hold-upper was still at my back, so I couldn’t see his face. "Just give me that money. I can buy a drink with that. f**k! I'm so thirsty, ” he said while cursing. I handed him the only money that I have even if I'm really confused of what he was saying. "Here. Take it. That's the only money that I have, ” I said sadly. Now I ended up with nothing. But at least, I'm safe. The guy let go of my hand and took the money from the back without saying anything. I turn around to face him but the man already turned around as well, facing his back to me. I stare at his back and notice something. He was not a typical hold-upper. He was tall, not so pale and not dark complexion, his complexion was in the middle of that I guess and he got a broad shoulder. He dressed in a perfectly manly posture and got a toned body. I stopped myself when I realized that I'm already checking him out. Seriously? Am I really checking-out the hold-upper's body? You're out of your mind, Kaede. "Okay! Thanks! I'll pay you once we meet again, ” he said while his back was still facing me. He made me more confused. "Why did I even forgot to bring my wallet! Damn it." I heard him whisper and then started to walk away from me. Now I'm baffled. Hold-upper would never pay nor give you back something that they stole! Even if I'm scared, I didn't think twice, I ask the hold-upper the question that is running from my ahead. "Are you really a hold-upper?" My question made him turn his back and face me. And my assumption was correct. He didn’t look like a hold-upper. If you looked at him at first glance, he could have passed as a model. He got this intimidating aura that says he was the boss. And goodness! He got a beautiful face. Even if his face was serious and void of any emotion, he was still so handsome and got a body to die for. He was oozing with superiority. He looked wealthy from head to sole. He didn’t look like a hold-upper! "What do you think?" he asked back while his thick brows furrowed. "I think you're not. You don't look like a hold-upper to me. You look wealthy the way you dressed. And a hold-upper will never pay what they stolen, ” I said while looking at his eyes. "Yeah, I'm not. Satisfied?" he said with a void of any emotion. "If you will not ask anything anymore, can I go now?" he continued and then turned his back. Before he could walk away, I saw his wound on his arm. "Wait!" I said that made him stop and glance back to me. “You got a wound on your arm. It's bleeding, ” I said panicking. "Yeah! I know. It's just a small cut—" I cut him off by grabbing his other arm. "Come here, ” I said, still grabbing his arm. "Hey!" he protested. "What's wrong with you?! Why are you grabbing me.! You little girl!" he spat angrily while I was dragging him towards the bench. "Sit down." I pushed him to sit down." I got alcohol and cotton with me. I'm just going to clean your wound, ” I continued. "Are you a freaking nurse? It's just a f*****g small —" I cut him off again when I pressed the cotton with alcohol hard to his wound. He flinched because of the pain. "Don't pressed it hard! f**k!" he complained while flinching because I pressed it hard again. "A small cut? Is that what you call small? You even flinch and cursed so loud because of the pain. I'm not a nurse, but I was once a member of the red cross, ” I said while getting a new cotton, pour alcohol on it, and continued cleaning his wound. "Ouch! Can you do it gently?" he said while cursing. I laughed because of his reaction. "Okay! Hold on, I'll just put a band aid and then we're done, ” I said while smiling. “There, your wound is okay now. It's not bleeding anymore, ” I said and tapped it a bit. "Why are you laughing? "he asked, sounding so pissed. " Nothing!" I said, shrugging. His brows furrowed again as he looked at me. "Thanks!” he murmured while looking at his arm. "You are welcome! " I said and looked at my wristwatch. Shoot! I'm going to be late. "I have to go! Take care of yourself, ” I said, smiling and then started to walk away. I didn’t feel scared anymore. I could feel that he was not really a bad person. I needed to hurry. I'd be late to work. It was past seven in the evening already. Jeez! I looked back and saw the guy with a confused look plastered on his face. He stood up from the bench and walk opposite from where I was. When I saw him disappeared from my sight, I turned my back and continued walking.
