Chapter Nine    Mike’s point of view    I turned in my seat to see Ellie stood there, looking far from pleased. I smiled and gave her a small wave that only seemed to annoy her more.  ‘Ellie, come sit down, have some food. Michael came over for dinner, but you weren’t here’. She didn’t move from her spot. ‘Is everything ok?’ Her mum asked, sounding worried. I looked away again, knowing she was so annoyed because I WAS here.  ‘I’m fine!’. She stated matter of factly.   ‘Oh Ellie, come on now, What happened between you two?’ This time it was her dad who spoke, but when she once again wouldn’t answer, they seemed to get more annoyed. ‘Fine, go to your room!’. I felt bad. She was clearly upset because I was here, in her house, and now she was being punished. I looked up and over at her again, she was angry. Really angry.  Great, All the progress we made earlier had no doubt gone out the window now. She didn’t say a word, instead, she just turned around and stormed back out the room. A few seconds later, the front door slammed, telling us she had gone out not gone up.  Her dad mumbled something angrily under his breath and left the room.    When I looked at Ellie’s mum, I’d never seen a woman look so apologetic in my whole life.  ‘Don’t worry about it. I should probably go’. I went to stand up when Marc repaired, a bottle of whiskey in hand.  ‘Leaving so soon Michael?’  ‘I probably should, early morning tomorrow’.  ‘One drink?’ I smiled. They really didn’t need to convince me, so, I just nodded and Lisa grabbed some glasses. They poured the drinks and passed me mine. I took it, we ‘’cheers’’ed and then, we drank…
