She looked out of the window. Her eyes focused on the two birds at the window pane.
This quiet surrounding was better than that bunch of crazy women going wild in the party.
But she knew how upset Katie would be without her. After all, this was her bachelorette bash which she had been planning since the last Christmas.
Martin was a guy, she wasn't exactly sure about but Katie was so passionately in love with him that Ana couldn't do anything. She finally accepted the fact that he was going to be her brother-in-law.
A part of her family.
The knock on the door startled her from her thoughts.
"Come in."
Sabrina, her best friend poked her head inside.
Sabrina was all dressed up in her best outfit. She looked ethereal. She knew how many heads will turn tonight to just get a glimpse of Sabrina.
"Oh Jesus, Ana. Why aren't you ready?" Sabrina shook her head in exasperation.
"I am."
"You're not wearing just a tee and jeans." She narrowed her eyes.
"Why not? It's not like I'm the one who's saying I do on Sunday." Ana replied before getting a peak at how gorgeous her best friend looked in comparison.
"Katie is your sister. You're the maid of honor. No way, I'm letting you wear that." She pulled her to open her wardrobe.
"Let's see. No... Absolutely not.... Are you kidding me?" Sabrina threw her dresses one by one on the bed.
"Just choose one or I'm not changing." She declared.
"Fine. This one will do." Sabrina passed her the grey dress which Katie had gifted her little sister on her birthday.
"Alright." Ana sighed.
"Just wear this. I'll do your make-up."
"What? Isn't the dress enough already?" She rolled her eyes.
"No. It isn't. Now stop wasting time." Sabrina yelled and Ana knew she was not winning.
Not against Sabrina when it came to fashion.
She quickly changed into the grey dress. The dress was a bit tight that it was hard for her to breathe. It looked fantastic as the dress clung to her body like a second skin but she felt so uncomfortable.
Atleast, Katie would be pleased.
"Wow. You look hot." Sabrina commented when she stepped out.
"Let me do your hair and makeup."
It took another ten minutes as Sabrina did wonders to her face.
When Ana finally stared at the mirror, she couldn't believe her own eyes.
She looked beautiful but not like herself.
"You're welcome." Sabrina smiled as she patted her arm.
"Now... Come on. Aren't we getting late now?"
"Yes. I'm so excited. We're going to have so much fun. Trust me this will be your best day." Sabrina grinned.
"I doubt that." Ana muttered to herself before locking the door.
True to herself she was at the party sitting at bar and watching her bestfriend and sister having a blast with the male stripper they hired.
He was one hot almost naked guy.
But she wasn't interested.
Hell she didn't find him hot.
Oh My God.
Was she turning into a Lesbian?
Earlier, Checking out Sabrina.
Not attracted to the stripper.
Something was definitely wrong with her.
Maybe it was the drink.
Some random cheap alcohol.
The music was blaring and had given her a headache.
It was chilly and her outfit was not helping her.
She should've brought her coat.
"Ana! What are you doing here? I'm getting married. It is one last time." Katie launched herself in her arms.
"Katie!" Ana yanked her hand.
"Come on! You look hot and you should be on the dancefloor." She announced.
"No. I'm fine here."
"Oh! Come on. Sabrina is having her way with Todd. It'll be fun."
"Todd?" Ana asked.
"The stripper." Her sister replied and Ana nodded.
"One song and I won't force you." Katie told her, giving her a puppy look.
Ana shrugged.
"Alright but only one song." She said and found herself surrounded by all of her sister's friends.
Her eyes caught Sabrina who winked at her before she whispered something in the ears of Todd, the male stripper.
She knew what her bestfriend was upto.
Turning on her heels and saving herself from a lap dance, she collided with some guy in the corridor who dropped a greasy liquid on her dress.
Could this night get any better?
"I'm sorry." The guy muttered and left hastily before she could give him an earful.
Her dress was ruined.
Thanks to the i***t who just disappeared.
"Hey, Are you okay?" The husky voice got her attention. She looked up to meet the pair of most beautiful eyes she had ever seen.
"I..." She was tongue-tied. Her dress was all wet and a bit transparent because of it and she reeked.
She just prayed to get swallowed by the earth right now.
The handsome stranger quickly removed his coat and put on her.
"Thank you." She replied, embarrassed.
"It's no big deal. Do you need anything else?" He asked her.
"Food." She regretted when the word immediately popped out of her mouth.
His mouth twitched in amusement, "Then I know the perfect place where we can get some sandwiches and milkshakes if you like."
Did the guy ask her out?
Or was he being emphatic to this damsel in distress?
"No. I mean. You don't have to." She said.
"Believe me. I do. The food sucks here and I'm famished too." He replied with a smile.
She looked down at herself, contemplating about his offer.
Her stomach grumbled making her cheeks burn in embarrassment.
"I think that a yes. Isn't it?" He grinned, "Come. Let's go." He told her and before she knew it, she was in his car, sitting next to him.
He was humming while driving the car.
How stupid is this to go out with a complete stranger without informing anyone?
What if he's a murderer? A serial killer. Alluring and hot killer probably.
"By the way, I'm Brian." He introduced himself, breaking her chain of thoughts.
"Ana." She chimed and he smiled before parking the car at the driveway of the cafe.
"This is the only place we could find at this hour. I hope you don't mind." He said.
"No. This will do." She murmured and followed him to the empty antiquated cafe.
He pulled a chair for her like a true gentleman, "Allow me."
She smiled and occupied the seat before he sat opposite her.
"Brian darling. Is that you?" His head turned to the old woman who walked to their table, adjusting her glasses.
"Aunt Francisca. You look beautiful today."
"Oh stop flirting!" She waved her hand in the air, "You brought a friend. A girl. That's a first." She sounded excited.
Ana gulped nervously.
"It's just that both of us are hungry and your sandwiches are the only best thing that can save us, right Ana?" He looked at her and Ana did nothing but nod her head thrice.
"Which one would you like Ana? I know what Brian likes." The old lady asked her.
"Whatever he's having." She replied.
"Anything to drink or whatever he's having?" Mrs. Francisca asked with a glint of amusement reflecting in her tone.
"Mango Shake." She scanned the menu to pick her favourite one.
"Alright two grilled chicken sandwiches and two glass of mango shakes. Is that all?" She asked both of them and they bobbed their heads before she left them.
The silence was awkward.
"Are you okay?" He was the first one to initiate the conversation.
"Yes. Thanks for the coat." She said.
"It was my duty. It was my friend who dropped that drink on you. I'm sorry." He apologized.
"It's not your fault. Anyway, I should've been more careful." Ana admitted and he offered her another of his polite smile.
"If you don't mind may I ask, what were you running away from?"
She stilled for a second.
"My sister's bachelorette party." She responded.
"Wait. You're Katie's sister?" He asked, astonished at his own question.
"Yes I am but how do you know Katie?"
"Martin is my cousin. I'm his best man at the wedding." He told her.
Wait... If he was the best man then they were going to walk down the aisle together.
This was decided by Katie herself.
"Ana! I want you to wear red because that will be the colour of the best man's tie. All my other bridesmaids would be wearing purple."
"Why am I colour coordinating with the best man?"
"Duh, You'll be walking down the aisle with him."
"Hey, aren't you hungry?" He snapped his fingers, pointing to the plate of sandwich and a huge glass of yellow frothy shake
"I'm sorry. I just got zoned out." She apologized and picked her piece of sandwich.
She moaned loudly as the cheese melted in her mouth.
Brian chuckled, gauging her reaction, "I know, right?"
They laughed and continued hovering over the food.
By the time, they had exited the cafe, it started raining.
They hurried towards the car as he immediately opened the door for her.
He closed the door after occupying his seat.
Ana removed the coat as she was drenched completely. So was he.
She eyed him as she saw his Adam's apple move.
He was peering at her before their eyes locked.
His lips looked so enticing that she wanted to taste him but she wasn't going to make the first move. She waited till he adjusted his seat belt, "We must leave before we get stuck here. I'll drop you back to the hotel." He told her and she knew that the moment was ruined.
Throughout the car ride, he didn't utter a word.
Ana kept staring out avoiding the conversation.
The car halted near the hotel gate.
She murmured a quick thank you before stepping out of the car.
"I'll launder this and give it to you by tomorrow." She told him, holding his coat.
He shook his head, "No. Please keep it."
"Thank you. I had a great time tonight." She said.
"Me too." He flashed her his best smile and she felt her cheeks turning crimson.
"Good night." She said and turned around.
She started walking towards the hotel lobby when he heard him calling her name.
"Ana..." She looked at him immediately.
"I'll see you at the wedding."
