CHAPTER FIVE – CAN’T SAY NO CHALLENGE

1639 Words
I had never enjoyed poking a sloppy pizza in my entire life, until now. All I can see is that jerk’s face, grinning like a mad man—and not really a pizza, so I poked and poked as if I could erase the grin he had on his errr…handsome, yeah, but irritating face. I couldn’t swallow my food, not even a sip of orange juice because of him! Up until now, I could still feel everybody’s glower at me, piercing as sharp daggers shot straight through to my head.  I sat on the farthest table in our school’s cafeteria alone. I had never felt like an outcast before. I was loved by many and was a renowned celebrity at my former school for Pete’s sake! I gritted my teeth. Everything is that jerk’s fault! I couldn’t even reveal myself. How could I? If any soul in our school new that I was the Dare Princess, I’d be doomed. How was I supposed to explain our controversial video in Paris? I couldn’t be too sure to assume that no one in MGSHS had ever seen that video before I took down. It actually trended on f*******:, Twitter, i********:, and YouTube for about a week! Who knows if I had followers in this school? Well, thankfully, it seemed that nobody knew my other persona in our class. I never got a curious look when I got in. Well, except for the “chilling” look I solicited when Sun suddenly offered his seat to me. I tightly closed my eyes when my memory from what had happened earlier inside the classroom suddenly flashed back. I could still hear the gasps and ooooohhhs everybody made when Sun told me to sit beside him. My face started to flush again. And as if on cue, the devil himself came. He confidently put his plate in front of my table, and then took the empty seat beside me. Oh, how I hated his grin. When I first saw him, I had always described his eyes as cold as an iceberg. But now, his cold eyes turned into blazing eyes dancing in delight while watching me slowly turn into incredible hulk! Ugh! The audacity of the devil! “What the hell are you doing?” I barked but in almost a whisper. I didn’t want to create another scene and elicit a fierier look from other girls. “What? Are you telling me that I can’t sit here?” he asked, obviously faking innocence, which made me more exasperated. “There are other tables around here. Empty tables,” I almost yelled. “I like to sit here, though,” he shrugged. “You know what? I really really reaaaaalllllyyyyyy want to erase that revolting grin on your face right now. If only I could,” I said. And then, I dropped my fork on the table. “Are you done eating?” he asked as if nothing had happened. He started eating his sandwich. “You don’t like the food here, do you?” he accused, in between his bites. “Oh, I like “the” food. It is you that I don’t like seeing,” I snapped. He gave me another grin. “Are you sure about that?” I rolled my eyes. “Look, I want to settle everything between us. I mean, it was all in the past. Why don’t we just forget about it and then move on?” “How could I move on? You stole a kiss from me, and then you ran away. When I finally found you, you sprinted away again. If you were I, would you just forget everything?” he sarcastically asked back. I sighed. With a resigned voice, I dared to ask him, “What do you want from me?” “I still couldn’t think of anything yet.” I clenched my fists. “Look, I’m sorry okay? How many times do I have to apologize?” “You already know what I want.” He looked at me, straight in the eyes. His gaze somehow made me feel…uneasy. My chest pounded like a mad monkey trying to ask for a banana. So I looked away. I heard his chuckle. “I c-can’t do that,” I said, slowly shaking my head. “Your image is more important than mine, is that what you’re trying to say?” I swallowed a lump on my throat. Unable to answer, I remained silent. “Alright, how about this? Until I finally thought of a punishment, you’ll never leave my side and do whatever, when I say whatever, I mean really w-h-a-t-e-v-e-r I say.” I gaped at him, unable to fully process what he had just said. “W-what?” “You will be my slave until I finally thought of a punishment fit to compensate everything that you had done to me,” he said. “Are you insane?” I gasped. “I am not asking for your permission. I am merely telling you about it.” “N-no!” I vehemently shook my head, still in disbelief. He put his elbows on the table, rested his chin on his hands, and slowly leaned towards me…too close that I almost forgot how to breathe. “You can’t do anything about it, moonpie. What Sun wants, Sun gets. My words are the rules here, moonpie. This school is my territory. So, unless you do as I say, I’ll make sure that you’ll never have peace in this school. And moonpie, this is not even a threat.” “You jerk!” I hissed. And then, Sun threw his head back and burst out laughing. He laughed until he cried, while I gritted my teeth until gums bled. “This is just the beginning, moonpie. Brace yourself, `coz I’m going to make your stay in McGregor Senior High School worthwhile.” “You cannot do this to me. This is inhumane,” I said, with narrowing eyes. Some students were now rubbernecking, looking curious as to why Sun, the coldest guy in MGSHS, was laughing like a lunatic in front of the “new” girl in school. “Pissing you off is so much fun. I like it,” Sun teased. “I hate you! Everybody’s looking at us now. What would they think?” “I don’t care about them,” he smirked. He suddenly stood up. “Are you done eating?” and then he asked. I looked at him, wide-eyed. “Y-yes, I think so.” “Good.” Without saying another word, he grabbed my hand and pulled me up. “W-where are you taking me?” I nervously asked. “It’s been a while since I had felt this good,” he laughed. “We’re going back to the classroom. Our next subject is almost up.” I couldn’t grasp every word that he had said. I mean, what did he just say? I wasn’t able to talk back because my mind suddenly went blank when I stared at his hand over my hand, clasping tightly as if he never wanted to let me go. Nobody had ever grabbed my hand. Nobody dared to touch even just a strand of my hair. My words, their rules. That was how it was back in my former school. It was I who gives rules. It was I who always decides what happens. Not the other way around! And when we got back inside our classroom, I received another round of excruciating glares from our classmates again. All the girls threw a burning stare at Sun’s hand that was still holding mine. I jerked up and tried to pull my hand away, but Sun didn’t let me do it. Instead, he silently pulled me towards our seats. “Sit down,” he told me. I couldn’t even say a word because I felt so overwhelmed at the moment! It didn’t feel right to elicit hateful glances from other girls, from time to time. I felt like everybody in that classroom wanted to strangle my neck and kill me. And then, it suddenly hit me! I looked at Sun, who had a smug look on his face while staring back at me. Dammit! I finally saw what he wanted to do! He did everything—from letting me sit beside him, eating lunch with me, and holding my hand as if he cared—all because he wanted to paint me a bad reputation! No wonder every girl hated me now. Then I remembered that particular scene at the restroom this morning. I couldn’t imagine dealing with backstabbing and bullying from other girls all just because of a crazy guy like Sun! I gnashed my teeth. He did everything on purpose. He planned it. He wanted me to suffer from the hostility of the girls that obviously wanted his attention. Damn him for making me feel this way! But I’d be damned to let him wear that smug look all day long while I was suffering, alone. I’d let him win…for now. But I’d make sure that when tomorrow comes, it would be I who would be smiling like an i***t. And he would bleed b****y red just from seeing me devilishly grin or twitch my lips! “I’ll let you win today,” I whispered. “But tomorrow, you’ll regret letting me sit beside you. I promise you that, Sunpie,” I sarcastically added. He leaned towards me and whispered back, “I’ll never regret offering you this seat.” His hot breath fanned on my ear like a burning fireball. My face turned rosy red when he leaned even more and said, “If I could smell your sweet fragrance like this every day, why would I regret it, right?” My gasp earned a chuckle from the brute. “J-jerk!” I hissed. “You look cute when you’re blushing like a baby. Damn, I can play with you all day,” he grinned. “Lessons, be damned, right?” he even winked. He wouldn’t let me focus, he wouldn’t let me study, and he surely wouldn’t let me stay sane! His teases and bullying make me go insane! He straightened his back when the teacher came in. “Eyes in front, moonpie. You won’t understand the lesson if you’d only stare at my handsome face.” “You wish!” I barked. “This is just the beginning. You’ll get used to this.” “Never,” I retorted and never spoke to him again until our last subject was dismissed. I ignored all of his teases. And I almost ran away when the bell rang. I couldn’t wait to get home and plan for his murder!
