“You’re late.”
I glared at Sun, who was standing like a King with his arms crossed in front of his broad chest. Since he was taller than I am, I had to take his condescending look in a more negative light. His stance, his smirk, and his eyes all told me one thing—I was his slave, always ready to answer his every whim and beckon.
And I hated it. I hated feeling as if I was inferior to him.
“I was only a minute late,” I sarcastically replied.
He raised his left brow and then threw me another demeaning look. I clenched my fist. He seemed to enjoy my overflowing annoyance because he deliberately does things to make me feel smaller.
“No slave talks back to her master,” he proudly said.
“That’s it! You’re making it impossible for me to even talk to you!” I hissed. I stomped my feet and angrily turned my back to him. I was about to enter our campus when he suddenly said something that stopped me from even trying to move a step forward.
“Just one move, and you’ll be sorry,” he threatened.
I faced him again. “Look, this is not funny anymore, okay?”
“Do you really want to try my patience?”
“You are trying to empty my patience’s cup!”
“Master.”
“W-what?” my brows furrowed.
“You forgot to call me, Master, moonpie,” he reminded.
“A-are you crazy? Why would I—”
“Did you forget about what we had agreed on yesterday?”
“We never agreed on anything,” I demanded.
“So, are you telling me that you’d like it better for things to be this way?”
My eyes widened in disbelief when he suddenly put his warm arm around my shoulders. He was too close, and it made me feel stuffy and…I blinked, my mind seemed to dysfunctional. I couldn’t even think of something to say or do!
“Just tell me. We can stay like this all day,” he teased.
I felt my cheeks burn. My breath started coming short, too. And my hands started trembling! What the heck? I blinked again, harder this time.
And then, he looked at me, straight in the eyes. I don’t know what happened. Or maybe so did he, because I saw how his teasing grin stopped when he stared at my flushed face. I couldn’t move, so all I did was stare back at him.
I felt his sudden quiver. Did I see his cheeks flush? He cleared his throat. And then, he abruptly took his arm away. He stepped forward, so I didn’t have a good look on his face to confirm whether he really flushed or not.
“Let’s go. We might be late for our first class,” he said. He gave me his blue backpack. “Take this with you. I’m going first.”
Sun had been a few steps away when I realized what had happened. He just made me hold his bag as if I was a pushover! I angrily trailed him.
“Hey! Take your bag with you, you jerk!” I shouted.
I looked around to see if there are students who might have heard what I had said. Thankfully, since it was already late, only a few were at the campus. Most are probably inside the class by now.
I stopped chasing Sun because I only felt more exasperated. With a resigned sigh, I just held his bag like an i***t. I held it too tight, thinking it was Sun’s neck that I so wanted to wring. And then, I heard a burst of resounding laughter behind me.
“It’s no wonder why Sun loves to play with you,” he said, his eyes still dancing in mirth while looking at me.
“Shut up, Cloud! I don’t want another jerk talking to me,” I dismissed.
He shrugged. “I am not a jerk, though.”
He walked slower, so we could walk together. We entered our building. And I was right. Everybody was inside our classroom. When Cloud and I entered our room, all eyes darted towards me again. I elicited another bunch of glares.
What now? Was Cloud also a crowd favorite? I was about to roll my eyes when I saw Sun, who was also furiously looking at me. I should be the angry one and not him!
“Here’s your bag,” I told him. I deliberately threw the bag on his table. And then, I sat beside him. Cloud walked past us and sat on his chair, too. He was seated behind us.
“Why were you together?” Sun asked, obviously annoyed.
“So what? Am I not allowed to talk or even walk beside my classmate?”
He threw me a nasty look, but he never answered back. Our teacher came in just in time as I was supposed to start another round of bickering with him.
All morning, I was left thinking why did he act like that. I was not used to being the last one to talk whenever I bickered with him!

“Hi, Moon! Have you had your lunch yet?”
I looked up and saw Skylar, standing in front of my table. “Uh…no, not yet,” I replied.
“Do you want to have lunch together?” Skylar excitedly asked.
I smiled. “Of course! That’s a great idea!” I collected my books and put them inside my bag. I was all set to leave when Sun suddenly stood up.
“Let’s go. I’m starving,” he said.
“You are coming with us?” Skylar asked. She looked more excited.
Sun threw Skylar a no-way-look. “Of course not. Moon and I already agreed to have lunch together,” he announced.
Loud gasps filled our room. Some of our classmates even stopped moving and just stared at him. I stared at him, too! What the hell was he talking about?
Sun threw me an impatient look. And his eyes clearly asked me, “Are you coming, or do you want me to drag you out?” I glared at him, for I understood what his eyes meant.
“I-I’m sorry, Sky. I forgot to tell you that Sun and I agreed to have lunch today. Let’s just grab a bite some other time,” I bashfully apologized. I hurriedly collected my bag to catch up with Sun, who started walking out of the room.
“Why are you eating lunch together?”
I stopped from my tracks when someone from the class suddenly asked that. Sun was already out, so he probably didn’t hear it. I looked around and saw a beautiful girl standing at the back. I honestly didn’t know any of my classmate’s names yet. I had only been here for two days!
“I’m sorry. But what did you say?” I politely asked.
“Are you and Sun going out?” the girl bravely asked.
If I were an ordinary girl, I would have flushed and backed down. From the way this girl asked me about Sun, I already knew how bitchy she was. Unfortunately for her, I am nothing but extraordinary. If I was in a good mood, I could’ve even laughed at her bravery.
Nobody could threaten Moon Johnson! Well, except for Sun, who could’ve been born with the power to annoy even the kindest saint in town.
“Hi, I’m Moon. And you are?” I asked. I have a keen eye for bitches, so I know one when I see one. And this girl is definitely one great beyootch.
“Daenna,” she replied.
“Hi, Daenna. You’d be glad to know that we aren’t going out.”
Daenna’s brow arched. “Just wanted to ask,” she shrugged.
I looked around us. Nobody dared to say a thing about Sun, only Daenna. She must be someone fearless to do so. In my two days stay at MGSHS, I already figured how powerful Sun was inside our school. Even Cloud couldn’t compete with Sun.
But this Daenna…is different. I saw a few girls behind Daenna, all looking smug and derisive towards me. They must be Daenna’s little devils. And then, I suddenly remembered a familiar voice I once heard yesterday inside the powder room.
So, “she” must her. Great. My stay at MGSHS would be more enjoyable. I shrugged back and said, “Okay.” I saw how Daenna hated my reply, so I grinned. “Talk to you later! I need to go. Sun’s waiting for me.”
I think I heard her call me b***h, but who cared? I don’t, because if she was a b***h, I was a Queen. I was silently laughing when I saw Sun standing right outside the classroom.
“You haven’t gone to the cafeteria, yet?” I asked, surprised.
“I have to make sure you’ll come and eat with me,” he said.
I looked at him suspiciously. “You were eavesdropping.”
“You looked cool,” he grinned, looking pleased.
I looked away. I blushed again, damn! How could he make me always blush like a fool? “Whatever!” I dismissed. “Let’s just go, shall we? I am starving.”
“Are you blushing right now?” he teased.
“Shut up!” I hissed. I walked past him.
“You are blushing!” he insisted.
“No, I’m not!”
And then, he burst out laughing. Damn Sun and his beautiful laugh. I blushed harder, so he laughed harder, too! How could I stay sane when someone like Sun is ruining my day?
