(10) Birthday Princess

A few days later it was finally Skye's birthday which she was looking forward to, she always told us what she wanted for her birthday and how she wanted to celebrate it. We always have a huge birthday bash with cake, balloons, presents and even get to do something special that she chooses. This year she chose to have an adventure around town and wanted a real-life orange tabby cat as a present instead of a stuffed animal cat, little did she know her biggest wish was coming true. I have planned her big surprise for a few months and did a lot of research on cats just in case I need to bring the cat back to life due to her not feeding it or even accidentally leaving the door open where the cat runs off in the neighborhood and gets hit by a car. Ever since she was little, she was obsessed with cats and wanted one, but my dad was allergic and thought cats hate angels for some odd reason.

Anyways before waking up the birthday girl, I decorated her room with lots of balloons and left a note on her bedside table that says "Happy birthday angel, today is your big day, I have some surprises for you so get ready and I can't wait to see your smiling face when you see your big gift. I am sorry dad is not here to celebrate but he is with us in our heart and watching from heaven. Xoxo - Aly".

See I went downstairs to hide all the cat stuff for her new furry best friend until mom scared the living life out of me when I turned the corner and entered the kitchen. I almost fell to the floor but ended up catching myself before I hit my head on the cold kitchen tile floor and spoke.

"Jesh mom, you can't just stand there and not say anything. You scare the living life out of me, and I think I saw heaven" I said while trying to take some big deep breaths.

"Oh, sorry sweetie, I just wanted to get an early start on the birthday breakfast and when we get to go pick up the kitten at the pet store today," she said while flipping some chocolate chip peanut butter pancakes.

"It's alright mom but next time can you at least say something, and not just stand there looking like you wanted to take my soul, we can go pick up the kitten after lunch which I made a reservation for the restaurant that dad always takes her to for her birthday, I just thought we should keep the tradition alive," I said while grabbing some glass cups out of the cupboard and began to pour the orange juice.

"Oh, I remember that place and shh. Did you hear something? oh crap, she is coming quickly and acting normal" my mom said while putting the pancakes on the plates.

"Good morning everyone and I have an idea on what to do later today, I thought maybe we should go to the beach and visit dad's favorite place. I would like to spend some time there to honor him and to feel like he is with us" Skye said while sitting down and grabbing some pancakes.

"That is a great idea, we do have some surprises for you, and you will love them. So, after we eat, let us get the day started" mom said with a smile on her face.

The morning flew by like a lightning bolt from the Skye. Skye got to open some of her gifts, but she did not get to open the biggest one that would put a smile on her face. I cannot wait to see her face when she sees her new best friend who I know dad sent her guardian angel. I remember growing up after Sundays we used to go to this restaurant which was one of the best ratings and more delicious food there is. We used to dress up fancy in our best Sunday church clothes and pretend we were the royal family who just happens to be angels. We used to have some fun playing tricks on people with our magic powers like once when mom used her mind and controlled a person to give us an extra piece of pie which was one of the best days we had as a family with dad.

Anyways while mom was keeping Skye busy, I went to mom's bedroom to get her last and final gift which just happens to be making a lot of noise. I walked back down to the living room and yelled.

"Skye, close your eyes and no peeking. We all know you love to do that and ruin your surprise gifts." I told her while putting the surprise on the table for her, while I did that mom gave a don't you dare put the thing on the table and I gave her I am sorry look.

"Are you ready my love? " My mom asked her while holding up her phone to record her reaction.

"Yes, and yes... I am so ready" she screams so loud that one of our neighbors probably thinks we murder or got scared of something.

"Okay you can now open your eyes," I said with a grin on my face.

"OH MY GOD! IS THIS FOR ME? HOW DID YOU. IS THIS KITTEN REALLY MINE?" She screamed so loud that my ears started to hurt.

"Yes, the kitten is really yours and you did pick her out when we went to the pet store that one day when we went to the café and the book store, do you remember," I asked her while grabbing some plates from the kitchen cupboard.

"Oh yeah no I remember, thank you both for the kitten it really means a lot that you remember what I wanted and now I have a best furry friend," she said while holding her new kitten and snuggle it.

"You are very welcome and don't forget you have lots of responsibility Skye" mom said as she begins to cut some of the birthday cake.

"Oh, I know, and don't worry I promise not to use my angel gift on the kitty," Ske said with a grin on her face.

"You better not, you don't even know how to control your gift and what are you going to name the kitten? I asked her while giving her a piece of cake.

"I am going to name her Salam like the cat in the Sabrina the teenage witch," Ske said while trying to feed the kitten some frosting.

"Oh, shoot a look at the time, I really have to go to work, and sorry princess I have to go take this shift you know the bills have to be paid, and well the academy isn't cheap. Happy Birthday, baby and enjoy Salam and don't have too much fun without me. Ally Don't forget to make she doesn't have too much cake, or she will be bouncing off the walls" mom said while she was packing her work bookbag.

"I promise she won't and relax mom we are just going to have a girl's day around town and go back to the pet store to get a name tag for Salam and of course have a slumber party in the living room," I told her.

"See you girls in the morning and I love you both" mom said while grabbing her keys and then kissed Ske on the head.

As soon as mom walked out of the house, we packed our bag and put Salam in a cat bubble bookbag, and went to the pet store to get a new name tag. After we went to the store we went to go around town and showed everyone Salam and they all thought she was a cutie. We visited every one we know who gave Skye a present and told her happy birthday. Once we were done, we head home to watch some chick flicks movies and just end up having a dance party before going to bed. We order some pizza, and we watched all our favorite movies until we fall asleep.
