(9) The Town Council

One thing about my town is that we have our own private counsel, sure it's not big or fancy as a supernatural city council but we like it small and simple. The town council is like its own secret club, where only selected people in the community that is only allowed to attend the private meetings, it's not like the council wants everyone to know about secret town business. The town council has been around since the town was founded which was about in the year of 1859, Valley Cove was the first town in the whole state of Washington. You can say the town really does have some history of having multiple celebrations such as a day of town founding which happens once a year at the end of August. Each year of the founding day celebration there is always a ball where we can dress up in fancy clothes or eat the most delicious food. There is this thing called a beauty pageant and a coming out party type thing, well I have no idea how to explain it but it that is confusing, it's like a beauty competition and a way to celebrate young teens with welcoming them into the supernatural world.

When I was little, I attend every single meeting because of my father, he was the head of the council and he was the type of person who put others first. That is one of many things the people in this town admired him, in fact, most people wanted him to run for mayor because of his plans and beliefs to make the town a better place. The first time I ever went to a meeting is when I was four years old, and boy did everyone loved pinching my cheeks, well just the older secretaries. I got to sit in one of the big wheel types of chairs that spin around so fast that makes you want to puke, I don't know why but spinning in that chair was so much fun and in fact, I still do it. Anyways it was awesome to sit at the table and pretend to take notes which mean just drawing with markers or crayons. Somehow everyone loved my art drawers even though I am four years old and today they are still having up in the town hall conical meeting room.

Sometimes I go down to the town hall and say hi to everyone. I bring some more of my artwork like drawings of my dad. I also stop by his memorial status to drop some flowers and just sit on the little bench next to it. His memorial area is by one of my favorite spots in the whole town. It's a peaceful place and I feel like I have a connection with my dad there. Today before I officially leave for school, I stopped by the office to tell everyone I got accepted into the academy and I will be leaving soon for school. When I walked into the building, I end up getting a shiver throughout my body and wings. I went to straight to the front desk where one of the secretaries was doing her work, I smiled and said...

"Hello Ann, how are you? Sorry, I didn't get a chance to visit in a while. It's still moms of hard walking around in here without getting sad. I just come to say hi to everyone, tell everyone some good news and drop some artwork off, " I said while leaning against the deal peeking over of the counter to see if anyone is in today.

"Hello to you stranger, it's been a while, and we sure do miss you and your family. Everyone is here, hold in a second I will get your uncle first, and he will be happy to give you updates about what's going on " she said while the front desk phone is ringing in the other side of the phone line.

"Take your time Ann, there is no rush but I got some good news to tell you," I said sounding very excited.

"Oh really now? Your mom isn't pregnant because I think I will have a heart attack and I didn't know Sky wants a little sibling, but I don't think a fur sibling will count. " Ann said while being confused with the phone desk against her ear.

"No, my mom isn't pregnant, but I didn't think she was ready to start dating yet. Remember the top academy for our supernatural world. Well, I just got accepted and will be going soon. Also, I wanted to drop this art project for you since I will not able to mail it from the academy." I told her with a big warm smile on my face.

"Oh, my. goodness... I knew you will get it. Your father will be very proud of you. I am so happy for you, also your mother and father meet at the academy when they are about your age. Congratulations my sweet girl, you deserved it, also make us proud" Ann said while trying not to cry in happy thoughts.

"Thank you, Ann, it means a lot when you said that. Also, here is your artwork present, sorry I didn't get a chance to give it to you early with the whole getting ready for school, " I said while sitting on top of the office deals giving her presentation.

"Ayla, you didn't have to give anything and me... Wow, this is so beautiful, and your art is truly amazing" she said while opening her present.

"What is so amazing, I did get a haircut recently. Oh, to wait you weren't talking about me, well that's a shame. Wow, that is an amazing artwork Ayla, one day you will become one of the most talented artists in the supernatural world." my uncle Alec said while coming from the back office.

"It's about time you got a haircut, you did look like the shaggy dog for a while. Also remember that academy that you, mom and dad went to while growing up, guess which got it" I said while playing with my keys.

"You didn't do you? Oh, my... I knew it. I am so proud of you." my uncle said and hugged me.

"It's nothing big, oh I also wanted to give you an invited to Sky's birthday party in about a week, which she wanted to have her a party a week before I have to leave for school," I said while giving Ann and Alec an invite card.

"We will definitely be there, I wouldn't need to go shopping or grandma can do it if she likes, she is a girl after all and I'm not very good at shopping for girls," Alec said smiling at his mom who is my grandma.

"Don't worry I will do the shopping for her birthday, remember the last time Alec went shopping for your mom for Mother's Day. I can't believe he really got her the wrong kind of flowers and some chocolate that she was allergic too. Plus she had to stay in the hospital for a couple of days with really bad allergy reactions " Ann said while putting some papers away in the files.

"Oh yeah, I do remember that, and she was pissed at you uncle Alec," I told him.

"Yeah, she almost put me in the hospital for a month, I told her I was sorry and I didn't know she was allergic to that stuff." uncle Alec said.

"I am sure she forgives you, but anyways I need to get back to mom and Sky. We are party planning and I need to stop by the pet store to make sure the paperwork is all good to bring her present home. Oh yeah, she is getting a kitten for her birthday so buy her one okay?" I told my grandma and uncle.

"Alright just let us know what you need for the kitten and we love to help you," grandma said while hanging her picture of the wall behind her.

"Oh damn, I was going to buy her a puppy and name it fluffy just like that three-headed a dog in Harry Potter in the Hogwarts school" uncle Alec said while fixing his tie since it was a little crooked.

" Alight talk you both later, well I should be going now: I said while walking to the front door of the building from the inside.

As I walked outside of the town hall, I decided to put my sunglasses on since it sunny outside and stopped by my dad's memorial to place some flowers on it. It's a tradition that I do every time I visit. It is a sign of respect to my father who was the town conical leader, now my uncle is the leader of the council which is passed down through family generations since I am too young to be on the council my uncle stepped in on my behalf. The town council is in good hands thanks to my uncle Alec and grandma Ann with making sure everyone in the town follows the laws. When you break a law, you will be placed in front of the council to ask for forgiveness. The whole council decides your fate. This has been the town laws ever since the town was created, and it's about our town history. Anyways I was at my father's memorial, I lay flowers down and said a silent prayer.

An angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom His love commits me here, ever this night be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

After the silent prayer, I stayed quiet for a little while until I started to run, so I decided to answer it.

"Hello?" I said into my phone.

"Hi miss, I am calling from the pet store and I would like to let you know that you would have to come in a sign the papers in order to take your kitten home next week," a lady said while on the other side of the phone call.

"I can come right now, the pet store is on my way home and my mom is working what I hope it's not a problem," I told her while walking to the pet store.

"No, it's not a problem. Your mother was in here early this morning to sign all the adult paperwork. " the pet store lady told me.

"Alight, I will be there soon and thank you for letting me know," I told her on the phone call.

While walking to the pet store I decided to take a shortcut through the town circle. The town circle is the middle of the town where we held many events such as town celebrations, such as the fancy parties to just a simple farmers market. I love walking through the town cycle because they are always something new, there is a person who sells homemade ice cream which is very delicious. I went over the ice cream cart to get a double scoop of chocolate peanut butter which is my all-time favorite. A few minutes later I arrived at the pet store to sign the paperwork that needs to be finished. It took about a half of an hour to go through and make sure all everything was correct with the adoption papers and the supplies with delivery. After I am all done, I decided to go home to make dinner and pick a movie for family night.
