Chapter 7 Good Kitty

1077 Words
Some moments later, the server came back and reported, "A dating event books tables 8 to 11. There are 12 men and 12 women…" Dating event? Mason's brows knitted more tightly, and his eyes grew colder. "This damn woman actually attended a dating event when she's married to me!" "Okay, you can go now." Sean waved at the server. Then to Mason, he said, "Reynolds, should I have someone call her up?" "No." Mason poured himself a glass of wine, drank it all, and left the room. Sean and Aaron exchanged a glance and smirked in tacit understanding. They went to the glass window and looked down at Lucia, who didn't know what was coming yet. After getting flirted with by a few men, Lucia felt a little tipsy. Her cheeks were flushed, and her head started feeling heavy. She couldn't keep her eyes open either. "Sorry, I need to use the washroom," she said as an excuse. As she walked, she slapped her forehead to try and clear up her mind. Suddenly, a huge shadow loomed over her. Instead of looking up, she moved instinctively to the left. But when she went left, the person went left too. When she went right, the person also went right, as if toying with her. She looked up in anger and was met with Mason's handsome face. Her mouth dropped open in shock, and she gaped at him. "Uh…" It took a while for her to find her voice. "Why are you here?" "I should be asking you instead." Mason's eyes were frigid as he stared at Lucia. Seeing her out-turned collar, his expression darkened. This woman didn't button her shirt all the way. From his height, he could see everything! "I…" Lucia opened her mouth, but her brain felt like goo. She couldn't find a suitable answer. It wasn't like she could say she was attending a dating event, right? "What, cat got your tongue? Hm?" Mason pressed on. Lucia knew that she was in the wrong, and she accepted it. She never thought that Mason would catch her red-handed at this event. What should she do? How could she explain so he wouldn't misunderstand? The gears in her brain whirred, and a lightbulb went off. Yes, pretend to be drunk! "Answer me," Mason demanded when Lucia kept silent with her head down. "I… I'm so dizzy." She shook her head and stumbled, falling into Mason's arms. Dizzy? Mason froze. When he breathed, he smelled the thick alcoholic odor and frowned in disgust. "f**k, how much did you drink?" Lucia didn't answer. She closed her eyes and put all her weight against Mason to keep up the act. Mason moved to push her away, but then he saw the faint flush on her doll-like face, her long lashes casting shadows under her eyes and her pouting lips. In the end, he hugged her instead of pushing her away. "Mm…" Lucia made a comfortable noise and rubbed her cheek against his chest like a cute kitty. This subconscious action seized Mason's heart! The big hug attracted many stares. Some people who recognized Mason started whispering amongst themselves. "f**k," Mason thought inside. "I'll deal with you at home." Mason's eyes flashed, and he hurried toward the elevator with Lucia in tow. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He clearly caught Lucia red-handed and wanted to use this to force her to divorce, but she was drunk! It felt like he'd put all his strength into a punch but ended up hitting a soft pillow. He had nowhere to vent his anger. And, in his anger, he didn't notice that the woman in his arms smiled like a mischievous fox. It was Lucia's first time being held in Mason's arms. She could smell his faint cologne and hear his strong heartbeat. It felt amazing! Being in his arms was so comforting and secure. If only this moment could last forever! But the reality was cruel. As soon as they exited Empire Club, there was a clap of thunder. Lucia was enjoying Mason's embrace, but she gasped at the sudden sound and grabbed Mason's waist. Mason looked down and frowned with anger in his eyes. His expression was as cloudy as the thundering sky. This damn woman was pretending to be drunk! He wanted to push her away, but many people were at the club's entrance. In order to avoid trouble, he had no choice but to swallow his anger and keep walking toward the car with her in his arms. His personal assistant, Angus, was already waiting by the car. When he saw Mason appear while hugging a woman, he was dumbfounded. He stared with confusion and disbelief. Was this really his cold and emotionless boss? Angus had worked for him for years and had never seen him hug a woman before. While he was dazed, Mason reached the car with Lucia. Angus snapped out of his thoughts to open the backseat door. He couldn't help but sneak a glance at the woman. It was only one glance, but he was already won over. She was beautiful but not in a sultry way. "Thud!" "Ah!" Lucia yelped in pain when her head hit the car door. Her brows furrowed tightly, and she let out a string of curses in her mind. This asshole didn't know how to take care of women at all! She didn't know if it was because of the alcohol in her system or getting hit in the head, but her head felt super heavy, while her legs were weak. Her vision kept seeing double, including Mason. "Oh my god, did I get a concussion?" she wondered. She slapped her forehead and whined. "So dizzy, so dizzy!" she mumbled. Lucia sat up and adjusted into a more comfortable position, resting her head against Mason's shoulder. "Lucia, enough!" Mason snapped. "Stop using your shitty acting as if I'm stupid." He shoved Lucia away. "Crash!" The sudden push made Lucia's head slam against the car door again. She saw stars this time, and she tried a few times before she could sit up again. "Mason, are you crazy? I'm seriously dizzy!" She pouted unhappily and rubbed her throbbing head. "Still lying? Do you think I'll believe you? Lucia, you're only trying to hide your mistake," Mason said. He turned away, and all Lucia could see was his side profile, his sharp features like an angry hawk.
