Just breathe

One step at a time

They are your pack members not strangers

This has become my new mantra as I stepped into the pack house for the first time in six months, everyone was already done with breakfast when I came in. Now they are all staring at me, my heart is already beating too fast and I can see black dot appearing in my vision. If I faint now, that will be so embarrassing.

"Luna, you made it, " my friend and the beta's wife Kate said , I have never been more happier to see her. She dragged me to the kitchen counter and plates some food for me.

"I have never been so happy to see you, thank you for saving me there. I honestly did not know what to said to them."

"It's okay, I could tell. Anyway, they won't be disturbing you for now, I made sure to tell them to give you space and not crowd you until you are ready," Kate says with a kind smile.

"Thank you. By the way, about the mating festival, we will need to form a committee that will help with the preparations. That way, we won't get overwhelmed and we can achieve a lot with the little time we have. l want you to find people that can work and take up the responsibilities of making this festival a success, six people are enough then we can go from there. For now, I want to go speak to my mate, I will catch up with you later."

"Okay Luna," Kate said. " I have told you to stop addressing me as Luna, you were my best friend before I became Luna and you are still my best friend so stop calling me that". Smiling, she said okay and left. And I went to find my mate.

Knocking at his office door before entering, I found him talking with his beta Cade who stood up to greet me the moment he noticed me.

"Good morning Luna, it is nice to have you back. I was just telling alpha how happy I am to see you trying to integrate again after everything," Cade said.

"Thank you Cade, please I will like to talk to my mate. Can you give us a moment?"

"Sure boss," Cade said before leaving the office and closing the door. I turned to my mate and my heart aches seeing how tired he looked, I found myself stepping closer to him.

"You have not been home for three days now and you did not bother to say anything to me, I was worried. And, are you avoiding me?"

"There was a lot of work to be done here, that is why. And I am not avoiding you , you are my baby girl. I am sorry that I did not say anything to you earlier. Now come here." I found myself snuggling to his chest and inhaling his scent, i have missed him so much. He separated us for a moment before capturing my lips in a kiss, his lips moved over mine, his finger tangled in my hair and for a moment, it was just two of us. I was starting to melt into it when he pulled away and placed his forehead on mine.

"I have missed you

so much and I am happy that you are here. And although I want to continue kissing you, we both have a lot to do and should get back to it. I will see you when I get home tonight. I love you," he said. I told him I love him too before leaving his office to go find Kate. I found myself genuinely smiling for the first time in months.

"Mmmm, someone is blushing, I wonder what happened in that office that has put you in such a good mood," Kate said.

"Kate, stop. Nothing happened in the office, we just talked and maybe kissed but that's just it. So get your head out of the gutter and let get to work, we have a lot to do." I can feel my cheeks get warm just remembering the kiss, we have kissed before obviously but this is the first time something intimate is happening between us for a long time and I feel like I might even get some tonight ,I hope something happens because I feel so horny right now and I need him to do something about it. I told Kate to get her head out of the gutter and decided to camp there instead.

"Now you are more red in the face, do I even want to know where your mind is?"

I swat her hand causing her to laugh at me before dragging me to the area being decorated for the festival. Decorators are already decorating the place and tables are being arranged. It is all coming together nicely and I already feel confident that we can pull it off. Kate introduced me to the people she selected as members of the committee and I must say, she has good eyes because I would have selected them if I had done it myself. I thanked them for agreeing to help and we all got back to work.
