I wake up in the early morning light in Ian's arms.
It's been two months since we left the Forgotten City. Ian brought me straight to his parent's ranch near Colorado Springs and proposed that weekend.
We had a rushed wedding; not that I mind. I don't have any family left, except for Tiff, and now Ian.
His family is great! His little sister, Jessi, is the sweetest thing, and I've never had a big brother before, but if I had, I'd want one just like Dan. His parents are the best! They are letting us stay in the little cottage, on the ranch until we can afford our own place.
We both decided to change our majors. He decided to go into agriculture, and I decided to try my hand at writing. My first story is a "fiction" about a little town that has an evil fog that swallows people up. Stephen King would be so proud!
I lean into Ian and kiss him on the lips. Slowly he wakes up and kisses me back.
"Good morning, beautiful," he whispers in that sexy voice of his.
I smile. I've been keeping a secret.
"Do you remember the day we were running from the fog..." I ask.
"Of course. It was the scariest day of my life. I thought I would lose you forever... Why?"
"You made me a promise that day. Do you remember what it was?" I ask.
Ian smiles. "Yeah, I said I was gonna buy us a ranch, marry you, have five kids and live happily ever after..."
I smile at his retelling. Then I twine my fingers with his and place it low on my belly. "Say hello to number one..." I whisper.
Ian gasps in shock, and slowly the most radiant smile graces his face. He crawls down my body and lifts up my tank top and nuzzles my belly.
Ian whispers "I'm gonna call you Angel, just like your mama..."
"And how do you know it's gonna be a girl?" I giggle.
A mischievous glint crosses his eyes.
"Because I'm her daddy!"
The end
