(Evelyn POV) ***** 5 Years Later ***** “Asher, Hannah! Come on, Wake up!” I called their names, and they stirred a bit but didn’t open their eyes. “Fine! I will leave you two and go to my office after half an hour. You will miss your first day in kindergarten,” I announced loudly, and headed towards the kitchen. Salina was already present there with a mug of coffee in her hands. “Wow! This color looks great on you,” She said before handing me the second cup of coffee, which I gladly accepted. “Yeah! I love color,” I said while touching the material of my malachite velvet dress. It was a fit knee length bodycon dress. I loved the way it was hugging my curves. My physique changed after giving birth to my two little munchkins. Now, I have bigger breasts and a little wider hips, but it looks good on my 5'4 frame. This dress also seemed perfectly fine with my bottle green eyes and brunette hair. “Where are your little troublemakers?” She asked, and I informed her that they were in the bathroom. “Time flies so fast because It seems like yesterday when we both were trying hard to get out of the clutches of that cruel Alpha Trevor,” She said and my body tensed after hearing his name. Salina also noticed my distress. “I am sorry! I didn’t want to mention it. I just did it absentmindedly,” She started apologizing, and I shook my head in no. “Evelyn…” “No! You have to forget that we were once Salina and Evelyn. We are now Ember Conner and Kira Conner. I don’t want to remember my past,” I said to him while putting my empty cup on the kitchen island. “Yes, you are right! I am not Saline Edwards anymore but your younger sister, Kira Conner. I will keep that in mind from now on,” She said, and I shook my head. “No! You are Doctor Kira Conner,” I corrected her and hugged her. “Thank you so much for everything, Kira! You did a lot for me and you are a knight for me in shining armor. I will never be able to pay you back for your favors,” I answered, and she slapped on my arm playfully. “It was not a big deal. After all, We are sisters,” She said and winked towards while walking towards the room of Hannah and Asher. Salina helped me in the running away from that pack about five years ago. She had little savings in her account and we used it as an emergency fund. We booked tickets to the USA and then stayed there for a full week. We bought a second hand car and came to Milan by road. Salina’s friend helped us with our fake id cards and we changed our names forever. I don’t want to give birth to my children in the shadow of my ex-mate. I was over the moon when I heard the heartbeats of my children. Salina helped me a lot in this time and after my suggestion, finished her medical degree. She is now a successful doctor and loved her profession. I started a job after moving here to a small advertising company. Although it was my first job but after looking at my hard-working nature, the boss of the company offered me the job of a manager in the finance department after two years. The job was paying well, and I started a private security company as a side hustle because I wanted to give a bright future to my children. Salina… Oops! Kira helped me a lot in this whole journey and I couldn’t thank her enough for her favors. I didn’t contact my parents even though, sometimes, My heart longed to talk to my brother Declan, but I knew, If I contacted them, then it would be a matter of days before Trevor got to know about my whereabouts. I couldn’t take the risk, especially when my children's life was also involved. Life started going smoothly, and I was happy with my children. Now, I don’t need anybody in my life. Kira came with Hannah in her arms, and Asher was following them. She gave them their breakfast and they started eating without any further questions. “Mommy! Our school will be big and we will play games there, right?” Hannah asked and a smile spread on my lips. After looking at their beautiful and chubby faces, I know all my past hurdles were worth it in the end because I got these beautiful gems as my prize. “Yes, Hannah! There will be games and you will also find friends there,” I said, and she nodded before taking another mouthful of her breakfast. “Brother! Have you heard what mommy said? We will find new friends there,” Hannah informed him, and Asher nodded in response. Asher was the responsible and a bit reserved one of the two. Hannah has a bubbly and carefree nature, but Asher always remains at her side to protect his sister. Hannah was younger than him by ten minutes, but Asher treated her like a big brother. Although they were twins but Asher has black hair like his father and Hannah was a brunette, just like me. Luckily, They didn’t take any more features of their father. I was happy that they both were split images of mine. “Get up or we will be late on the first day,” I said to them and they nodded before running towards their room. Kira loved them both and felt happy to do most of their work. Kira had already prepared their bags while I prepared their lunch boxes. We all went out of the apartment and I locked the door before walking toward my car. I have to drop Kira at the hospital before heading towards kindergarten. “Mommy! We don’t want to be late on the first day of school,” Hannah chirped, and I smiled before starting the car. They both seem happy on the first day of school, but Asher seems a little quiet.
