As soon as he was close enough, Ethan swiped both of his claws simultaneously, but the Viper dodged the blows before they could land. "Just stay still!" He mentally shouted.
The Viper had enough of energy to burn off since he wasn't involved in a fight tonight. He wasn't going to make Silver Fang's situation simple. Ethan made sure to avoid those as well before hurling more acid from his hands. However, he was essentially doing nothing because he couldn't get a grasp of his adversary.
He would soon run out of Mana, and he couldn't win by simply avoiding. Ethan's movements eventually became slow. He could feel the crimson energy leaving his body, and his features were starting to change. These all pointed to the same thing.
"It appears that you have finally used up all of your Mana. I guess I can stop wondering now, the viper said, gathering the acid in his hands. "I was beginning to wonder when you'd finally lose a match," the viper remarked.
He bent his knee and sprinted towards the direction of the opposition. As he was turning around, he punched him in the stomach and grabbed him by the face with the other hand. Ethan was unable to handle the attack's ferocity or the acid's intensity. He yelled in agony, but it didn't take long for him to pass out.
The first thing he did after cautiously opening his eyes was to scan his surroundings. Ethan was aware of his location thanks to the scent of antiseptic and the continual beeping sound.
He said to himself, "So I lost that match." Nevertheless, he wasn't too upset about it because he still had one more day to earn the remaining funds he required. He was merely disappointed that he had fallen short.
A nurse arrived a little while later to perform a check-up. He made sure he was well and then was then released and given permission to return home.
Super healing was a little advantage that Enhance Individuals had over non-Enhanced . Despite the fact that this was an ability in and of itself, all ability users inherently heal more quickly. indicating that all of the wounds and burns he had sustained throughout the struggle would recover swiftly. To complete this would require Mana.
His Mana level was still low. Ethan made the decision to call it a night and return home. He had trouble falling asleep that night, though. He'd been having nightmares about his sister and his uncle ever since Charlotte had been abducted. And in the most of cases, Charlotte would perish or cling to life by a thread.
Ethan was resolved to finish what he had started the next day. Adam was contemplating a variety of things in his bedroom. He was unaware of what Ethan had been up to during this period. But ever since that day, he had experienced the same problem with sleep as his nephew.
He had no means of knowing if she was alright, so he could only assume the worst. In this world, she and her brother were all he had. Knowing that she had been taken from him, he wasn't sure how he’d function if anything bad happened to her.
Adam was without other options. He picked up his phone and started looking through his contacts, determined to speak with this individual. "I need to ask him for help. He gritted his teeth when the person didn’t pick up, "Pick up the damn call!" He yelled in frustration. But the individual he was trying to reach didn't pick up.
He yelled, "f**k!" and slammed his table.
On the other side if the house, Ethan had received a further call from the kidnappers when he was in his own room.
“The final day is today.” The man said. "You understand what that means."
Ethan strained to gather his thoughts as his hands shook.
"I hope you've made progress?”
"Y-yes. I already have most of the money. I'll provide the ransom this evening.” H said. He wanted to ask the man something, but he wasn't sure how the man would answer. But because it was so crucial, he just barely managed to overcome his resistance and pose the query.
He began by saying, "I- Iwant to ask you something."
“… what is it?"
"How will we conduct the exchange once I have received the whole amount?"
Hearing this, the man on the other end laughed. "That's nothing to be concerned about. Everything else will go as planned once the money is ready," the man said before hanging up.
"The rest will go according to plan?" What that meant was a mystery to Ethan.
“See you soon, kid.” And the man ended the call.
Ethan looked at his phone, mind reeling in confusion.
