Chapter four

Amber’s pov

“I have a few people in mind but nothing set in stone yet. Why?" he asked

"I wanted to know if you had anyone in mind, that's all" I said nervously.

" There is no one yet" he said finally.

" Then I accept” I answered.

“Accept what?” He asked confused

“ I accept to be your chosen mate, I can’t part from Liam I can’t” I shook my head, rejecting the idea, my words spilling out.

“ Do you understand what it means to be my chosen mate? I want a mate in every sense and I won’t accept a mate in name only. I can’t let Lottie rule my life, I need to move on. You can't bear to be near anyone, you were not even comfortable having a simple conversation in either of our rooms. You have been through a lot I get it, and I can't force you to do anything you don't want." He said. I had wanted to suggest being his mate in name only, but after hearing him I nodded in agreement no matter what, I would not be parted from Liam

" I won't be parted from Liam, I just can't", I said in a panic.

“After you rejected my proposal last time, I took my time to look at things from your perspective and I realized you were right. I had only thought of the convenience, how easy it would be to raise Liam together seeing that he already sees you as his mother, but I didn’t put your feelings into consideration. I wouldn't mind having you as my mate, but it's not all about me now, is it?” he said in a low tone.

" If you choose someone else as your mate, what would that mean for me and Liam?" I asked

" You were there when he wanted and needed someone, the sleepless nights, the tantrums. You know what he wants before anyone does. You are Liam's aunt and I will always respect that...." Before he even finished speaking, I could control Kora's angry roar, to be honest, I was angry myself.

"He is my son, mine no one can claim my son", Kora spat out as she had taken over.

"Kora, be reasonable, I can't ask Liam to call my mate aunt now, can I? If we do have other kids, I can't have a separation between my kids with one of them calling her aunt. Tell you what you can both be his mothers" he tried to compromise, but Kora was having none of that.

" I said no Kai, Liam is mine, mine alone no other woman gets to be his mom but me. Why does who ever gets to be your mate, claim my son as theirs?” She roared angrily “We will be your mates. That way, no one can claim my son." She was losing it and losing control and I knew she would force a shift soon if this continues.

" Kora calm down" I pleaded.

"Shut up, if anyone gets my son, I'm telling you Amber, I will make life unlivable for you", she threatened. Liam was her lifeline, mine too, so I understood the panic.

"I want a mate, not just in name. I want a real mate and I can't complicate your lives, Kora, please understand". Kai tried again.

" There is nothing complicated here or are we not good enough to be your mate?" she was getting aggressive and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get back control from her. Kai shook his head, I knew he wanted to disagree with her, he wanted to explain and understand her, us but I saw words failing him and Kora started to move towards Kai. I knew what she was about to do, and I screamed in the link for to Kai to leave to run but kora blocked me and also he didn't react fast enough, and Kora had attached herself to Kai's neck and marked him. Kai was taller than me, six feet seven to my five feet three. Kora had jumped on him and, out of instinct, Kai had caught us, and she took advantage and sank her canine teeth on his marking spot. Even without mating, it was still orgasmic, and she rolled our eyes in ecstasy and settled in the back of my head, leaving me to face a stunned Kai. As stunned as he was, I could tell the marking had affected him too, he couldn’t help the little pleasure sounds he made as he closed his eyes.

"Kai?" I said in question, and also I didn't know what else to say. He opened his eyes and I could tell Alaric was in control and before I could blink his canines where in my neck and just like that we were marked mates and Kora gave a soft laugh and said I knew he wouldn't sit still and went to sleep. Our wolves settled back in the back of our heads leaving a mortified Kai and a speechless and horny me.
