Malvina gave a little laugh.

As she spoke she put her arms round Malvina and kissed her.
“Thank you, thank you so much, madame, and I too shall pray that you will always be happy.”
“I do hope your prayers will be answered.”
Malvina walked towards the door.
Then she turned back to have a last look at Blanche.
She looked exquisitely lovely lying in the blue bed against the lace-edged pillows.
Malvina waved her hand as Blanche murmured,
“Au revoir.”
