CHAPTER 8

SANHIA POV

Since I couldn’t disagree with Mr. Sebastian’s plan, I head my way early to Ms. Bernards office, honestly, I really don’t like her, like her whole personality! But what can I do…it just leaves me no choice.

I placed myself on my designated table that was prepared by Chairman Bernards, I try to read things to entertain myself while waiting for that woman!

While I am enjoying reading some magazines, I didn’t notice that she already arrives and as usual, we didn’t get along well even this peaceful morning.

We throw a lot of sarcastic words and honestly I guess I am getting used to it!

I just ignore a lot of her sarcasm and just endure it.

We both start to work and while working, one of our employees in the SGC calls.

“Ms. Sanhia the owner of the Ester Boarding house calls, they returning the contract to us”

“What? What do you mean they are returning the contract? That can’t be!” I exclaimed

“She mentions that one of the students staying there was attacked by a ghost”

“Ghost? What ghost? How does the ghost mean to all of this?” I ask

“I am sorry Ma’am but you need to talk to her and convince her to stay within our contract” upon hearing what he said I come up with an idea to call on Mr. Sebastian.

I told him everything that is happening and ask to talk to Ms. Bernards.

They talk silently and I kind of wondering what was that all about then she mentions that she will be with me tomorrow.

What can I do but to agree, I just give her the exact time and details of the place.

Honestly, I don’t know what will happen to us tomorrow, I am not comfortable with her attitude and if she will be a great help.

Upon getting home from work, I manage to sleep early preparing for tomorrow, somehow I am thinking of that ghost, if that is real, I kind of pissed having those issues, it's been surrounding me since last time.

I just woke up early then head my way to the boarding house, the owner waited for me outside and meet me.

“Hi Ms. Ester, I heard what happen, now can you tell me what has been really going on in this building for the past three months?” I ask

I can see how terrified she is, but she still, manage and willing to tell me everything.

“You see, after the signing of the contract, the first week has been very scary here, though we don’t see it in the actual image there is a lot of footsteps, rumbling of voice, whispering and most especially the morning usual of the kitchen in the third floor, every morning the refrigerator has been wrecked and all the food has been eaten, it is always been like that until Jessy one of our tenants here saw the ghost in actual image” she explained even looked terrified.

I was about to say something when I saw Ms. Bernards's arrival.

I don’t know what to feel, her irresponsibility attitude makes me really hate her, and as usual, another sarcasm conversation is what we shared.

Then we check every corner of the building and we didn’t see anything until we got to the kitchen on the third floor, she notices an unusual footprint, it isn’t a human footprint.

Since there is no sign of movement or even ghost activity, we decided to go back at 3 am.

We both arrive at the exact time and make our way to the kitchen, upon getting to the third-floor hallway, we already heard a loud footstep so we follow and tail it, and we end up in the kitchen.

We remain standing outside and I was stunned to see a ghost human-like mouse eating something at the ref, I thought it is just a ghost but what I notice is that he can move and hold something, so he wasn’t literally a ghost but some unexplainable creature who can be invisible.

I thought she is seeing it but when she was about to get in I stop her and I prepare some face powder then blow it to the creature, the powder formed exactly what it is and that is the time Ms. Bernards saw it with her own eyes,

She throws more powder at the creature which startles him and so it manages to escape from us leaving the kitchen but when I accidentally grab its arms suddenly it melts into the air.

Seeing that really bothers me, meaning all I have been through and dreaming about was real, any kind of bad spirit or creature is melting in just a single touch of my hand.

Going out of the building I kind of disoriented about what happens and what I did again.

How am I supposed to have that kind of power in me, like I can melt any kind of bad and disturbing creature and spirits?

I was silent for a minute when Ms. Bernards suddenly speak.

“Never mention this to the owner or anyone unless you want to be famous and be viral in no time or the SGC will be in a scandal, just tell the owner that we didn’t see anything we will just conduct a blessing to it, we also need to talk to the student, I guess making her know that there are people who saw what she saw and believes her word would make her feel better and maybe we can ask her not to mention it to anyone anymore, we just need to assure her safety,” she said that surprised me a little.

She just gets into her car and drives away after those words, I don’t really like her but somehow on this night I feel her, I felt her concern to me.

I just look at her driving away.

I walk towards the waiting area of the public vehicle to ride in going home; my mind is still at the edge of wondering what is really going on with me.

While I was waiting I noticed a woman beside me talking to someone on the phone that seems agitated, I even heard some curse words and swearing.

Damn this night! I should be in a somewhat peaceful place to calm myself but here I am in the middle of the crowd.

I just wear my earphones and start the music.

Weeks pass and I already talk to Ms. Ester and assures her that the building is already safe; I just had an agreement with her that if ever there will be another sign of ghost activity then we will accept the returning of the contract.

On the other hand, about Ms. Bernards, we still never get along well though there are times that we just avoid each other, besides I will only stay here in just a week then I will be going back to the SGC.

I just had my lunch then going back to the office upon opening the door I saw her watching the TV, I didn’t mind her and just sit on my chair when I heard the news and was shocked to see the woman in the headline, she was the one with us in the waiting area who’s having a fight with someone on the phone.

“A woman who committed suicide who’s residing at the Belony Apartment was found dead at her apartment; she is found hanging at her room and was almost one week dead, her friends believe that she committed suicide when she was fired at her company she was working for almost five years, the company is the famous construction company in the country, the Bernards Construction company”

“What the f**k! I didn’t remember that I fired anyone last week!” she burst out

“Belony Apartment is under SGC, I guess she is indeed working here,” I said and it got her attention and walk towards me

“So what are you trying to say b***h?” she said with brow up

“Just trying to justify the truth that she is really working here,” I said without looking at her.

“And how do you know that she is really working here?” she asks

“The Belony Apartment is a privileged accommodation that Bernards Corporation gives to those who work there for more than four years and SGC was the owner of Belony Apartment property, we are the ones who fix it for the employees” I explained looking straight at her

“Whatever! But what I am trying to say is that I never had anyone to fire last week! Damn! I need to find the truth!” she said then picks her bag and was about to get out of the office but I quickly move my ass before her and cover myself to the door.

“Nope, you can't just leave your work, we still have a lot of things to do, and besides it's just an opinion of her friends, no proper basis that the company is the reason!” I said while our face is just an inch away from each other

After I said that, she just looks at me straight to my eyes before her response

“My company is might or might not be in jeopardy coz of that mere opinion and I can't just sit here waiting to know if indeed might be us or not, I cant put this company at greater risk! So get off my way!” she said with fierce eyes and our nose is almost touching each other.

I was suddenly shut up with what she says, despite showing irresponsibility actions towards her work I can see that she really values this company so how can I disagree with her now? Damn! I just rolled my eyes then slowly move away and she was about to turn the knob when I hold her hand

She looks at my hand then looks at me.

“Let me join you, besides I am from SGC, I can have access anytime to that apartment, also, I can't let you ruin my name to Mr. Sebastian once you mess this up,” I said then I head my way to my table and get my things

I didn’t hear anything from her and she just gets out of the office still.

I just breathe out an air trying to control my emotion; I just really hate how stubborn she is!

When I get out of the office, well, I am surprised that she waits for me.

We both get in the elevator until we reach the parking lot.

I was about to tell her that I will just take a cab when she cut me from talking to say something

“Let’s use my car,” she said then walks towards her car, I didn’t disagree anymore since it will be hard for me to take a cab, traffic is all around the city so it's best if I will ride in her car.

She enters at driver’s seat and I am in the front seat.

“Just tell me how to get to that apartment,” she said then start the engine

“Of course that is why I am here,” I said and she just looks at me

“I don’t need your f*****g attitude right now b***h” she said that really pissed me, I just try to control myself every time she calls me a bitch

“Then stop calling me a b***h!”  I said then look at her seriously

Our eyes are fighting with each other, we both don’t have a plan to give in to each other until..

“Look out!!!!” I shout when we were about to hit the car that is approaching us, she was out of the road when she looks at me, then our car is unknowingly hitting the other side of the road and that is where we almost hit the car approaching us.

She quickly avoids it and we are now on the right side, I was almost shouting my lung out seeing we are about to have an accident.

After what happened she just remains silent and just focuses on driving, I was about to just face the window when she said something that I didn’t expect.

“I am sorry,” she said while still looking at the road.

I didn’t give her any response on that, I can't say any words as of now, maybe later when my mind will be relaxed,

After a certain minute, we got to the area, we both get out of the car then stare at the apartment’s building.

Inside my mind is still hoping that our company doesn’t have to do with her suicide.

It will indeed be a huge scandal for the BCC and SGC if the reason is really about her getting fired.

Still looking from outside, I gaze on Ms. Bernards and she also does the same to me, we both stare at the apartment then make our first step towards the building that finally we both agree to do.
