3: The Lycan King’s Harem

Even in death, I had no peace. Leo kept haunting me. He was in my afterworld, tormenting and killing me over and over again. I thought I would find solace in death but no, it was more scary than the real world. Making my way down the bushy pathway, I came across a woman in a red dress, sitting by the side of the road with a rose in her hand. I stopped abruptly and admired how ethereal she looked. Her silver hair cascaded down her shoulder down to her waist. " Beauties like her only exist in this world," I muttered to myself and gulped slowly at the sight of her eyes. They were like the rainbow. " Larissa," she called, her voice sweet and charming. How did she know my name? I couldn't help but ask myself silently. Was she someone who knew me in life? " Even in death, you have no peace," she drawled and placed the rose to her nose before drawing in a deep breath as if intoxicated by the scent of the flower. I swallowed a lump in my throat and mustered the courage to speak with her. Tilting my head to the side, I asked, my voice cracky and almost nonchalant. " How did you know my name?" She chuckled and raised her brows at me. How can she have the perfect and flawless skin? I'm sure it took five days to create a perfect being like her. " I know those who come in and those who leave," she answered casually and I just shrugged. " You're... Beautiful," I complimented and for the first time, I felt everything brightens. A ray of sun appeared from nowhere, taking away the darkness. Puzzled, my eyes met hers, they no longer had the rainbow hue, they were now golden and that was when I realized she wasn't an ordinary being. If her smile could brighten and take away the darkness then she is more than just a beautiful woman. " Who are you?" I asked, my voice hoarse, my face covered in curiosity as I resisted the urge to take a step forward and bask myself in her warm light. " Who I am is not important," she answered and elegantly stood up. Her red robe flowed down behind her. Still holding the rose, she took a gentle step in my direction and my heart leaped. " If you are given an opportunity to go back in time and start over again, would you take it?" She asked, her head held high and her gaze holding mine, making it impossible to understand her question and to answer. " You mean going back in time and preventing my death?" I managed to ask and for some reason, it was the only thing that came to my mind after trying to understand her question. She shrugged her shoulder and my eyes lit. If I have that opportunity, then I can prevent my death and take revenge on Leo for his betrayal, rejection, and killing me unjustly. " Can you send me back?" I asked, eyes filled with hope and desperation and she nodded. " I can send you back to the last seven minutes before you died. If you don't repeat the same mistake, you will live and have your revenge," " Omg send me back please!" I squealed in excitement, clasping my hands together like a little girl but she lifted a finger to shut me and I obeyed. " But there's someone you must take his heart. If you can, he will protect you against everything even against himself. He will give his life for you but, you must not give your heart to him. The day you do, I shall take the breath I am about to give you away from you," she stated and I nodded. Who would reject such a sweet offer? I've been betrayed and hurt before. I'm never going to give my heart to any man again. Ever. " Send me back. I promise you, if I come across this man, I'll never give my heart to him. With my body, I shall honor him and with my heart, I shall starve him," I said firmly, bubbling with happiness. I could already imagine having my revenge on Leo in my head already. She took another step closer, closing the gap between us and I felt warm, like a fire burning in me when her hands touched mine. She placed the rose in my palms and whispered in my ear, " Remember, your heart for him in exchange for your life. Now go!" I am sent flying, my stomach hurts and my back hits the grass in the woods. I spat out blood, coughing, and wheezing in an attempt to catch my breath and save my life. My face wrinkled in a grimace as I fought to push myself to my feet but I fell immediately after I attempted. Groaning, I raised my head and saw Leo, shirtless, leading a pack of wolves in my direction. I could sense and smell death from him. He was going to kill me. He would hold my face and break my neck. My heart pounded against my chest and my legs trembled. Cold chills ran down my spine and I quickly looked to my left. Hoping to find something there and there it was, the figure in a black cloak and green eyes. " Help me!" I called out to him, crawling over the grasses and tugs. I felt them tear my skin but I would rather endure this pain and survive than have Leo break my neck like a rat. I pushed myself up to my feet, holding in the pain that was surging through my entire body, and ran as fast as my legs could take me to him. Stretching my hands sideways, I embraced him, collapsing in his arms but before losing myself to darkness, I saw the glow in his eyes, his earthly scent mixed with rose overshadowed my bloody smell. I felt lightheaded, unable to keep my head up, and for the first time, or what seemed like a hallucination, I heard a voice in my head. A female voice, filled with excitement. " Mate! Mate!! Mate!!!," the voice called out and that was the last thing I heard. Adjusting my eyes to the light in the room, I stared blankly at the grey ceilings before turning my head to the side. I raised my head and pushed myself up to a sitting position. Examining my body, starting from my arms down to my feet, I noticed I was as fresh as a newborn, free of scars and wounds and I was in a dress, a yellow dress with my hair flowing freely on my shoulders. The door opened and a girl of about twenty-five years walked in, holding a glassy jug in her hand. " You are awake," she said, her face radiating excitement. I've never met her before and that left me the question, where am I? " Have some water," she said, handing me a glass of water that she had filled and without hesitation, I grabbed it from her and gulped it down. Letting out a long loud exhale, I lifted my head and looked her in the eyes. " Where am I?" I asked her. " The king brought you about a month ago. You have been recovering since then," she answered obediently, not looking me in the eyes, and took the glass from me. The king? What king is she talking about? As if she noticed my confusion and heard my Inner monologue, she asked, " You don't remember?" And then a familiar voice came into my head. A voice I've only heard once. " He is our mate," the voice said in my head and my lips parted slowly. Fragments of memories formed in my head and I remembered looking into glowy green eyes in the forest and the scent of earth mixed with rose. ' Is he the one? Is our mate a king?' I asked my wolf silently. ' yes.. seems like he is a king but what kind of king is he?' she answered and I looked at the girl. " I remembered now," I told her, forcing a smile at her. I stepped my feet on the rugged floor and stumbled back when I tried to walk. " Do you mind?" She asked cautiously and I nodded. She held my arm and helped me up. " We can go to the garden and you can practice how to walk again. You should be back on your feet, walking perfectly like your old self before the day runs out." She told me and I couldn't help but agree with it. A perfect opportunity to go out and see what it is like here. " What's your name?" I asked her, as we made our way slowly to the door. " Viviane," she answered politely and I nodded my head. " You are so unfair. You didn't even ask my name but you asked a stranger her name?" My wolf complained and I let out a short sigh. I thought all wolves were meant to introduce themselves. ' what's your name?' I asked her in my head. " Luthena," she answered and I couldn't help but smile at the uniqueness and how old schooled of her name. " Viviane," I called my aid, . " What kind of king is he?" I asked her, expecting her to say an alpha king but what she said next took me unaware, making me pause in my movement for some minutes. " He is Lycan King. He rules the werewolf world and all alpha's, be it alpha kings are all under his command and rule," Is this what she meant when she said " a man who will protect me against everything and even himself"? I couldn't help the beam in my heart and the smile that crept onto my face. ' Watch out Leo, I will destroy you,' I said internally, raising my brows with a sly smile tugging on my lips. All through the walk to the garden, I thought about what he would look like and what kind of person he would be. Will he turn out to be like Leo? I sighed and shook my head. I remember he was gentle when I was in his embrace and his eyes, were not hostile toward me. Maybe he was like that because I was miserable and was at his mercy for life. " Let go of me b***h!" " I am more beautiful. How dare you call me ugly?" The screams of women jolted me out of my thoughts and I turned my head to see young women of about eight in number, gathered and watching two other young women scream their lungs out at each other it made me wonder who they were, and what could be the reason for their fight. " Did you hear that? Hahaha. She said she was more beautiful and yet, she hadn't entered his chamber since I came," she threw her hands in the air, laughing hysterically, and before I could blink, she reached for the other girl's head and gripped her hair, pulling her to the ground. " Listen to me b***h, your reign is over. If you want to survive in this place, you should learn how to respect and obey me because I am now the king's favorite and someday, I will rule this place." She spat and I felt the chills of her voice on my skin. It was as if I was the one she was referring to. I watched as the others whispered amongst themselves. I turned to face Vivianne, who seemed calm and seemed to have witnessed a scene like this countless times. " Who are they?" I asked her, glancing at the girls and at the back of the other girl who was walking away majestically with a smile on her face and as if she owned the place. " Oh, I forgot to tell you about them," Viviane said and turned to face me. " These women, just like you, they are the king's mate. They are fated to him," she answered and my eyes bulged, my lips parted slowly and my jaw dropped. The king's mate? " The Lycan king is different from other Lycans and werewolves. He is not destined to be with one mate. He is destined to be with as many fated Mates of which, you are one of them," At that moment, I felt my head spin. As if my past suffering wasn't enough, the moon goddess dared mate me to a man with multiple mates. How could I survive in this den of venomous jealous women who want to have the man to themselves alone?
