Chapter TwentyJosey could see the bridge ahead. The dirt road seemed to narrow to less than the width of one car where it met the wooden planks that formed the bridge. Josey scoured her surroundings as she approached the bridge, but there were no signs of life. The sound made by her tires became a repetitive thumping as she started across the bridge.
