Chapter 18

I glanced at my watch and sighed, muttering, "Because of this guy, I'm late." "Hm?" Walter turned and looked at me in confusion. "You take care of this guy, I have to go," I said to Walter, who then glanced at the new vampire and left. I have to get to the exhibition, Orion will be performing, and he will definitely want me to see him. This will be his first catwalk appearance in a long time, and it will also be a turning point in his career. I have introduced him to the vampire world, and I will be responsible for him. I don't know what the future holds. However, I will at least make sure Orion feels at ease and comfortable with me. As a human, Orion only has a short time left, and I probably won't be able to be with him for another 80 years. So, in the meantime, I will try to express my gratitude by making his life enjoyable. One day, I'll see him get married and have children. Orion and I might not be as relaxed as we are now. But there's no harm in enjoying a relaxing moment like this. I've had a human by my side for a long time. If Orion ever has a wife and children, I'll take care of them just as I took care of him. I've also taken good care of the Steward family, to the point where his grandson now works for me and is a subordinate I trust. But imagining Orion having a wife and children makes me feel a little strange. My chest feels tight, and the thought of him embracing his wife someday feels like a huge slap in the face. I'm just a stranger who suddenly entered his life and only slightly changed his path. My chest is so tight that I can barely breathe. I feel like there are some things I find difficult to explain about Orion. I always felt kind to humans because they're basically weak creatures who once took refuge under vampires, and inevitably those past instincts still linger within me. However, with Orion, there seems to be something different. "Mr. Eli, are you here? The show is starting. You should come in now," Felix's voice approaching me broke my reverie, and I immediately nodded and followed Felix inside. I was still standing, not yet seated, as Felix was still finding a seat for me. I stared at the stage and watched the models take turns walking gracefully across the runway. However, I felt completely uninterested and I only glanced at them. The clothes, which seemed to be inspired by old-world European clothing, were indeed appealing, but for me, having lived through that era, I found them overly overdone and uncomfortable. I prefer modern clothing that doesn't use excessive accessories or layers. However, one model who had just walked the catwalk stunned me. Orion appeared in an outfit similar to the other models, yet different. Orion wore a white under-tunic with a wide cleavage and was tied with loose straps, still revealing his ample chest. The under-tunic also had matching lace, not too large, at the V-line, adding to its beauty. The sleeves were quite large and had ties at the wrists, giving them a voluminous appearance. His trousers were brown velvet with gold thread woven into the plain trousers. Orion's slightly long hair was styled in a messy style, accentuating his sexiness. His beautiful and handsome face looked both serious and relaxed as he walked the catwalk. His already flawless face was polished with makeup that further accentuated his beauty. The shimmer of the spotlight on his face made him glow even more. I felt like I was staring at a perfectly crafted sculpture. I wanted to take him and make himself mine so no one else could see his beauty. "Sir, please sit there," Felix directed me to sit. I followed him, but my eyes remained fixed on Orion, who was still strutting down the catwalk. It was hard for me to tear my gaze away from him, it felt as if the world revolved around him. I only looked away when Orion was no longer visible on the stage. I sat without looking around, but as soon as I stopped watching Orion, I immediately noticed something and shifted my gaze to someone who seemed to be staring at me. I noticed someone across the stage staring at me, and when I looked back, they smiled at me, their face somehow familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. Another model walked by, breaking my gaze. When she passed, I looked back at the person, but they were gone; their chair was empty, as if they hadn't been there in the first place. I immediately felt uncomfortable and called out to Felix. “Who's that person sitting in that empty chair?” I asked Felix, as at an event like this, those in the VIP seats were guaranteed to have their own invitations and reserved seats. Felix glanced at the empty chair and replied, “I'll find out.” Felix might have been a little confused, but he didn't ask why I wanted to know who the empty chair belonged to and simply went ahead and found out without further questions. I nodded and returned to my gaze at the exhibition before me. Although I wasn't particularly interested, at least I could browse the clothes. Maybe I'd buy one if I liked it and if it suited Orion. Orion still had a few more performances, but I had to leave, so I couldn't linger. I went backstage with Felix to meet Orion. I'd already bought some flowers to give him. I walked into his dressing room and saw a shirtless Orion sitting at his dressing table, getting his makeup done for his next performance. Orion seemed to notice me in the mirror and immediately smiled, which I could see in the mirror. "Oh, Mr. Manager, did you bring someone?" someone said to Felix. "Yes, sorry. Could you give us a moment?" Felix spoke to the staff, who then left the dressing room, leaving only Orion, Felix, and me alone. "Sir, I'll wait outside. Please don't take too long, Mr. Orion has to get ready," Felix said before leaving the dressing room. "You looked great, you're very beautiful," I said, handing Orion a bouquet of sunflowers.
