Chapter Twenty (Part 2)
He is driving the car so fast and is shocking to see it this fast despite its seemingly rusty appearance earlier. I was surprised when he suddenly turned the car to the left to change road, we almost crashed into a nearby utility pole.
"Damn it! Are you trying to kill us both?" I irritatingly reproached him when my head almost hit the dashboard.
My captor remained quiet as he drive the car to its full speed. Beads of sweats fell from his forhead. The wrinkles on his face are also more exposed now that he is in a very tensed state.
"Crap, they keep on following me..." he whispered.
I tried glance at the review mirror and there I saw two police cars still following tailing us from behind.
The hoodlum drove the car wildly in a consecutive attempt of twist and turns. My head almost banged on the dashboard again when the bump of the car hit a parked motorcycle.
After a few moments of endless turns, I noticed that I can no longer hear the ear-splitting siren from the police car. I realized that this criminal was able to outrun them.
Damn it.
Nevertheless, the speed of the car did not falter. He continuously speed it up as if scared that any moment, a sudden police car may appear from nowhere.
My captor once again turned right when we passed by another road but I was shocked to see a motorcycle driving head on towards our direction.
And it was not a random civilian who was driving because it was a police.
It was officer Manalo.
His face was serious as he drived tge vehicle straight on us like he is planning to crash it on this car.
My lips parted a bit when I saw the fast-approaching motorcycle.
What the hell is he thinking?
Before we could properly react on what's happening, another shocking thing happened when officer Manalo jumped from the motorcycle causing it to fall on the concrete road with a loud thud. Then, what's more shocking is when he landed on the very car that we are on.
The bump of the car was crashed a bit because of the inexplicable impact of his landing. And for some reason, the car also stopped too.
My mouth gape wide open and I am sure the man beside me too.
The police that stop the car with his mere weight slowly stared at the criminal beside me before hardly punching the glass window of the car.
The glasses immediately splintered in million pieces like a vulnerable China ware. I briefly covered my eyes for protecting.
After that, he forcedfully grabbed the man beside me on his collar before pulling him out of the car like he only weigh a feather.
He then slammed the body of the criminal on the cold pavement. The poor man groaned in pain as the police officer hovered over him. Officer Manalo fished a handicap on his belt to out it on the hoodlum.
"You have the rights to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law..."
I just stared at them as the officer Manalo officially arrest the guy. I am still dazed and in a state of disbelief about what I witnessed.
Officer Manalo then turned his head on me. He walked towards me, dragging the criminal with him.
"Damn you, damn you!" The criminal cursed him to death but he ignored him.
Officer Manalo opened the door of the car for me so I can finally go. But what's bothering is that he did not actually open the door, he more like destroyed it by removing the whole door using his bare hand as if it was nothing.
How the hell did he do that? He is that strong?
"I'm sorry for the inconvenience. You are safe now," his intense-looking eyes stated deep within me as he extend his hand to me.
I hesitated a bit before deciding to accept it. He help me to get out of the wrecked car.
"Damn you, cops! Let go of me!" The criminal struggled to escape but officer Manalo was able to made him kneel with a effortless push.
I eyebrows knitted.
"You need to face the consequences of your actions. You will have impending multiple cases ahead of you because of your criminal acts. Justice must be served to whom it is due," He seriously muttered at the struggling hoodlum.
The seriousness and authority in his voice is very firm, I can't help but to be quiet.
"Criminal my ass! I only did that to feed my family! To buy a diaper for my child because hypocrites like you know nothing but to corrupt the money that should be used for people who are struggling for their lives! Don't f**k me with your justice principles because my actions are more justifiable than you hypocrite cops!" I can feel the extreme anger that overflows in every word that he says. Gone was the nervous criminal I saw earlier. All I can see now is a frustrates and hopeless human being.
However, officer Manalo was not even fazed at his words. He just directed his intense eyes at the criminal before speaking.
"Justice is done with regards to ethical and moral code. It is a an act of fairness. So foolish actions that is rooted to selfish intentions cannot be called justice. What you did is far from being fair as it is destructive. Do not taint the meaning of justice because of your own selfishness. Between the two of us, you are the hypocrite one." He uttered each word in pure bluntness and heavy conviction that my lips parted again once more.
The criminal could not say anything after that.
"Let us wait for the reinforcement. They will arrive here in no time," he told me. I was almost surprised that he was now talking to me.
I blinked my eyes twice to pull myself together.
"Thank you," I said. I bit my lips, trying to get out of my dazed state.
"Can I ask your name, officer?"
He turned his gaze on me again and I saw the familiar flicker on his eyes. It was like I saw his eyes changed its color from gold to black.
"I am Police Corporal Ajax Manalo but if you're uncomfortable, you can just call me, Ax..."
