Chapter Twenty Four (Part 2)
The familiar voice of my mom briefly grazed my mind for a fleeting seconds. My eyes widen a bit when I remembered what this impulse is all about. I remembered my parents talking about this impulse thing even before the Project: Lotus was formed. As far as I can understand and remember, this term refers to the impulse or uncontrolled aggression that we, mutants have. Because aside from the superhuman skills, we also have heightened senses that are beyond the normal capacity of an average person.
This extreme senses are caused by hyperactive neurotransmitters inside our body that are actively sending eloctrochemical signals directly in our brain. Hence, such hyperactivity in our nervous system can sometimes cause aggression or what my parents like to call as the impulse. It is almost similar to the concept of animal aggression. Every time our impulse is triggered, we will only be driven by instinct alone, eradicating our rational mind and thereby resulting to an animal-like aggression.
The moment the impulse takes over our sanity, we will be reduced into a mindless monsters.
Sometimes, the impulse is activated due to a sudden surge of powerful emotions such as anger, fear or even extreme bliss. It can also be triggered by overusing one's skill.
This thought made me more curious about Zephyre's Impulse report so I resume on reading it.
Mutant Impulse Report
Based on the series of investigation and observations, it is shown that her impulse is starting to show positive signs. A series of tests revealed that she is able to control her impulse. However, she still needs to be monitored and to undergo a series of tests to thoroughly repress her strong aggression.
I stopped reading it for awhile when I remembered something. Looking back, Zephyre is known for being friendly but somehow, ferocious kid. Our similar yet conflicting personalities resulted for the two of us to dislike each other. However, our differences is that I can control my emotions while she can't--most of the times and I think I know the reason why. I only heard it from a conversation if my mom and dad before but I think Zephyre was treated as an outcast in her family, she was also called a witch because if her skill and probably experience physical and verbal abuse because of it. It is probably the reason why she had a hard time controlling her emotions before.
I flipped the next pages of the folder again because I decided that I am already done with Zephyre, I want to read some other file's now. My eyebrows automatically raised when I saw a familiar photo when I flipped the next page.
Guess what, it's Lumence file next.
Well... I might as well read it.

The demographic part of his file is a hit burnt so I just continue to read the description of his skill that is located in the bottom part of the page like what I did in Zephyre's file.
Summoning (n): The ability to summon anything within a specific area.
As I read his skill, I realized that Lumence has a somehow unique skill. He is like a living magnet. He can summon or attract anything, wether living or non living, towards him. To be honest, it is a useful and powerful ability. However, I can't still take him seriously because if his stupid antics. He is very unlike his quiet twin.
From the start of the training, Luicio Merence Maurico has already shown his great prowess by being able to summon 5 non living objects (a table, chair, soccer ball, thick book, and stone) and 2 living creatures (2 puppies) that are 50 meters away from him. He can summon them 10 times before his skill drains out.
After the 10-month training, his skill is further develop in terms of control and length. He can already summon different objects t repeatedly for the extent of 10 hours before his body drains out. His level of fatigue differs depending on the weight of the object he is summoning. Moreover, the proximity of the objects he can summon is about 1 kilometres away from him.
My eyebrows automatically raised again when I read his report. Yeah, not bad. Well, being totally honest, the Mauricio twins or Gamence and Lumence are known to be the best in utilizing our skills. It is like they are the unofficial top of our class. If only Lumence is a bit more sensible then I will probably take him seriously.
I flipped the next pages of the folder ti see who's next and my expectation is right because the next file belongs to Gamence.
I forehead creased when I noticed that his file is has the most burn marks compared to the first two files that I have read. I could not almost make sense of the texts that are written on it.

...and the rest were impossible to read because of all the burn marks. I just tried to make sense of some of the text printed on it.
Limited Telekinesis (n): The ability to control all non-living matter using the mind.
That was the only readable text that I could read and I figured that it talks about his skill. So yeah, Gamence has the ability of Telekinesis only that it is not the usual supernpowerful Telekinesis that can control everything using the mind because his is a bit limited. His skill is actually like the opposite of Zephyre, wherein she can float and control living objects while Gamence can move and control non living objects. The scope of his ability may look limited, just like what it is technically called, but the way he mastered it exquisitely, he was able to wield it at its absolute potential. Just like what I have said, he and his brother is the two of the best in terms of controlling their skills.
I got a little bit disappointed of all the unreadable texts on his file because of the burn marks. I decided to just proceed to the next page and see who is the next mutant and my eyes widened when I saw a familiar angelic photi in the right upper right corner of the next page.
I bit my lip as I read his file...
