Chapter Twenty Five Records I STARED at his photo on the upper right corner of the page. His jolly eyes and calming smile is contrasting to the seriousness of his files. Name: Blade Tyrell Broqueza Age: 12 Sex: Male Blood Type: B+ Natural Eye Color: Black Transformative Eye Color: Red Skill: Touch My fingertips caressed the last texts that indicates the capacity of his unique skill. Touch (n): An ability to render people unconscious by mere touching and can also cause traceless death if used continuously. Blade Tyrell Broqueza is also capable of temporarily repressing another mutant's ability who is at least 5 meters away from him. Blade has the unique and silently dangerous skill. Moreover, he is also excellent in wielding it to its absolute potential. His sense of self control has been praised by my parents and the other Scientists that are part of the classified project. I proceed in reading about his mutant impulse report. I examined the graph that is located above the written report just like what I saw from Lumence and Zeohyre. His impulse tendencies is very low and almost none at all! Indeed, he is a man of self-control even before and after the Exitiale Septem epidemic. Blade is the most Psychologically-composed among all the mutants. For the 10-month training, he never manifested any signs of impulse of any kind of aggression. It is clear that the way he mastered his skill is parallel to his mastery on his self-control. Hence, his ability to manage his emotions without having the need to result into breakdowns and anxious burden makes him more efficient in handling his venturesome skill. However, he still needs supervision and to undergo various testz assure that his skill will not let loose by any means specially in a destructive way. I stopped reading to breath the tainted air inside this old room. Well, Blade has always been that kind of guy. The light guy, almost similar to Lumence but their main difference is their ability to rationalize things and act more sensible. Obviously, Blade is the rational and sensible one because Lumence is mostly a total nut job. Blade's smile brings that hopeful vibe in a room of gloominess. His boyish smiles will captivate anyone who will stare or even glance at him. With or without powers, he has a distinct effect to people; a profound charm that can enchant anyone. We used to stick together all the time, he was my confidante; my comfort zone. His gentle hands will always found its way into mine to calm me down of to cheer me up every time I need it. Until one day... I flipped on the next pages his file to read it further and there I saw... the very reason why we started drifting apart slowly... After continuous observations and tests, it is confirmed that Blade's skill (Touch) is incompatible with Arylle's skill (regeneration). Every time they have any physical contact, their opposing dnas triggers an unknown destructive chemical reaction. The Scientists behind the project have hypothesized that these conflicting are due to their incongrous skills. Blade's skill can temporarily repressed a mutant cell and thereby cancelling its ability to send chemical signals in the brain to produce super human abilities. Thus, this might have a distinct effect on Arylle's regeneration skill. Because every time they have any physical contact, Arylle loses het ability to regenerate causing her to sustain blisters in her skin that was touched by Blade. The dusty fragments of my memories started to swirl all over my mind as I read that piece of information. Blade... "Ryz!" Blade's eyes lightened when we saw each other after being isolated for weeks. My lips twisted into a mild smile as he approached me in pure enthusiasm. His eyes spread out in an attempt to give me a hug. As his arms wrapped into my skin, an excruciating pain spread into my flesh causing me to instinctively push him away from me. I screamed in pain as I embraced my shoulders in the hopes of lessening the burning sensation that I am feeling. "Ryz? Ryz, what's happening?" I heard the flabbergasted and worried voice of Blade as he tried to stand from the floor. He stepped in towards me again, trying to reach me with his hand and when his palm made contact with my elbow, the hrrowing pain I am feeling intensified into the point of torment. It feels like his palm is an unstoppable force inferno... scorching my skin until I cannot bear it anymore. My mom and dad run towards us to aid me, my dad gently checked my arm that I was hiding desperately; the burning sensation is still there. "Ryz? What happened? Why did you scream?" I can sense the alarm in my mom's voice as she examined my arm and elbow. I opened my eyes from being tightly shut. "I... I don't know. It feels like my skin burned the moment he... he touched me." I glance at my shoulder and was shocked when I saw the red blisters all over it. It looks like my shoulders and elbows soaked with boiling water! "Ryz... I... I d-didn't know..." Blade's face was filled with undiluted despair as his trembling hands tried to reach out in the open air. He step forward, closing his gap between us but before he could step any further, my dad already put his hand in front in an attempt to stop him. "Blade... please, stop right there." "B-But... I want to talk her. I-I swear I did not do anything--" "We know, Blade. But she's hurt, there might be an explanation about this. Why her skin suddenly blistered the moment you made contact with her but we don't know the reason yet so it'll be better if you distance yourself," my mom tried to explained in a calm manner but it did not wipe off the extreme guilt and shock that are still plastered across Blade's face. His eyes looked so melancholic as our eyes met, his trembling hands gradually fluctuated in the air. I suddenly feel guilty too... for pushing him away earlier. I want to say sorry, I know it is not his fault. I wanted to touch him, there is nothing wrong... maybe if I touch him again, I will not feel that pain again. I tried to stand and withdraw from the grasp of my parents to reach for him but before I could raise my hands to touch him, he already stepped backwards. He shook his head at me and despite the obvious sadness in his eyes, he still manage to sport a weak smile. "I-I'm sorry, Ryz. Aunt Zeph was right. Maybe it's really for the best to just distance myself from you... for now," Those are his last words before he walked away... ...and that was also the last time I was able to touch him skin to skin. Blade... I continue reading the rest of his file even if some of the pages were burnt and stained and I did not noticed that the cloud of sleepiness was already hovering above me. I woke up when I felt an insect biting me it something. I slapped my face to catch the imbecile mosquito which was effective because I was able to slay it. "Oh, damn. My head hurts for reading too much in a poorly lighted room and faded texts," I mumbled under my breath while massaging my temples. My head is throbbing like mad again. Is this really because of my inconvenient reading or is this some sort of continuation from my past headaches? Oh, damn... whatever. I stood rose up from the sofa and decided to go downstairs and check Nanang and Manong Ronald. When I glance at the open window, I realized that the sun is about to set. I drifted my eyes to my wrist watch to check the time I saw that it is already 4 pm. But the sky looks much darker. Well, it's the ber season after all. The night falls faster than the usual days. I stretched out my arms before picking up the black folder to hide it inside my bag pack again. After that, I proceed to get out of this old room and check my two househelps downstairs. When I closed the door of my room, I noticed a sticky note on it and I thing it's from Nanang, it says: Arylle, I asked Ronald to drive me to the Mall so we can buy some insect repellant and mini fan so you can sleep peacefully tonight. I tried knocking on you room earlier but I guess you were asleep. We'll be back shortly. -Nanang Fe I tilted my head before peeling it off the door and pocketing it inside my pants.  Guess I was really deeply asleep earlier. A yawned escaped my mouth when I turned around to proceed on walking downstairs when I suddenly felt an odd feeling. My yawn quickly faded and my mouth immediately shut as I vigilantly tried to sense my surroundings. No way. My eyes slightly widened when I felt a familiar presence inside this old mansion. It is like a ball of aura emanating a potent energy force... It can't be. This familiar feeling is... This kind of presence only belongs from a mutant. "Did you find anything?" "No, maybe we should searched somewhere upstairs." I hid on a wall when I heard unfamiliar voices downstairs. Who are they? -C. N. Haven-
