Her First Love

Chapter 9

EMMA POV:

He took out his wallet and give me money for my dare.

'Do I look like a beggar to you?' i asked offended and pointed towards myself.

He looked at me from top to bottom. A smirk appeared on his face. I could not read his expressions.

'Take it or leave it.' his tone held finality.

'Okay, I will take the money' i agreed and smiled at my victory.

He gave me some dollar bills that were enough for at least 2 pizzas. I tried to tell him that he had given more than necessary money. But he just walked away. Such a tough guy.

After that, I returned to the ground where the group was sitting and showed them the dollar bills proudly.

They all hooted and clapped for me. We again continued playing and the game became interesting with every dare. After the game, we attended the remaining lectures.

'We should hang out sometime outside the university.' i told Alyssa as we were walking to the parking lot.

'Good idea. I am dying for shopping.' she replied excitedly.

'Okay, we will go after exams. Exams are just around the corner'. I said not very excited about them.

I head towards the bus station. I reached my stop and got off the bus. I walked slowly because I was in no mood of going home soon.

I went to the park near my house. It was near evening. Children were playing around and some elder couples were walking leisurely.

I sat on the swing and started swaying slowly. My mind gradually relaxed and happiness filled me watching children playing and giggling.

Someone sat on the other swing. I tilted my neck to see and found Jack sitting there smiling foolishly.

Jack is my neighbor since childhood and also a good school friend. He is a few years older than me. Our friendship didn't start like normal ones.

In beginning, he used to bully me. Long story short, I helped him one day despite his behavior with me. Our school arranged a camping trip. We went on camping near the mountain. He injured himself there and I helped him back to the camp.

After that, he was like a whole different person. He always acts like a brother protecting his sister from everyone in the school. Gradually we became good friends.

Still, if I call him for any help, he is always available. I think I have praised him too much.

Back to reality.

'Long time no see, buddy.' i said to him smiling.

'You know I have to go out of town for work' he said bored.

'When did you come back?' I asked him

'Yesterday'.he replied.

'I went to your home to meet you this morning. Aunt told me that you have started university.' he continued

'Yes recently.' i said looking at the playing children.

'Anything new?' i asked him.

' I have an important thing to tell you' he said looking around.

'Go ahead' i said.

'Not here, I will come to your house this weekend. We will talk there.' he said nervously.

' Okay. I'll wait for you.' i told him.

We talked some more about his work and my studies. Then, we got up from swings as it was getting late.

He walked me home and then went to his house.

I entered and went to the kitchen. Mom was preparing for dinner. I kissed her on the cheeks and asked about dad.

'He'll come home late. He has an important meeting with Smith's cooperation.' my mom told me while cutting salad.

I have heard Smith but where. I tried to recall but fail. In the end, I left this thought. My dad runs a well-known business. But my mom is natural and modest. She doesn't like maids for everything. She loves to do house chores herself.

We are wealthy but we live a normal healthy life. Not a fan of high-class life and we all are happy with our simple lifestyle.

'Okay,' i went to my room and lay down on the bed. After resting a little. I open my laptop and start using it. Time flew by quickly and soon it was dinner time.

My mom called me and I went downstairs. Mason and Noah were also there. We sat around the table and thanked mom for such delicious food. During dinner, Noah spoke.

'I have a baseball match in a few days and guess what?'

'What?' Mason replied.

'I am the captain of the team' he told us excitedly.

'That's great.' i said happily.

We continued eating. After dinner, I helped mom in washing the dishes. After finishing work, she went to the living room to wait for my dad and I went to my room. I took out my books from the bag. I opened the book of calculus. But Girl, it is out of my mind. I have to do something about this subject before exams.

My phone suddenly beeped. I checked my phone. An unknown number messaged me.

I opened the message. 'Hey' was written there.

'Who is this?' i replied.

'Your friend' message came.

'This friend has some name. Right?' i asked.

'Guess what?' another message came.

'If I knew then why would I ask you?' i texted back.

My phone beeped 'Calm down. Josh here. Just kidding with you'

'Ohh, how did you get my number?' i asked.

'I have my sources' he replied with detective emoji.

I think Alyssa gave him my number. Tomorrow I'll ask her.

'Okay.' i replied with a laughing emoji.

I chatted a bit. He is quite funny and made me laugh with his jokes during our conversation. Then I texted him 'Good night.'

Books were still in that position like I opened them some time ago before messaging.

I cast a last glance at my books and again put them in the bag. I am in no mood of studying anymore. I will deal with them later.

I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Then I came back to the room. I closed the curtains and turned on the lamp.

I lay down on the bed and as usual repeat all the events of the day. Soon I was enveloped by sleep and flew to my dreamland.
