Chapter 4 Elliot Sandberg’s POV: “This is a very interesting report, Elliot. Very detailed. But what is the point of this very detailed report? Why are we in this impromptu meeting?” Mr Ed Dubios, one of our company’s Board of Directors asks me in a boarded and annoyed tone. Mr. Ed Dubios is one of our oldest Board of Directors, who also happens to be very, very old man. He is around 80 years old, and I want him to retire as soon as he can. Don’t get me wrong, I respect the old man, but he can be a, in simple and polite words, very old school. He has this thought that everyone should be prepared, and not just prepared, he wants everyone to be ready to an extent where, even if a fly died during processing the data, we will have to know that. Ok, I might be over exaggerating, but my point still remains. He likes all the reports to be perfect. He does not like his time to be wasted. Which makes me wonder why does he seem to be annoyed with mine. It’s a perfect report. Why is he annoyed? “Yes, it is a nice report, isn’t it, Edward. Elliot has done a very good job with it!! What do you say, Andrew? Anything to add to the report?” My grandfather, Frank Sandberg, spoke up and then asked my dad with a slight of a playful smirk on his face. But on the other hand, my dad looks like he would like to punch someone in here, and I think it might be me and that makes me so happy. Getting under his skin has been my favorite thing to do for the last few years. Knowing he can not boss me around like he used to. Knowing that he can not make me do things I do not want to do. Knowing that he does not have any power over me like he had a few years ago, makes me happy. I wish I had this power a few years ago. I wonder how things would be right now if that was the case. “It is a nice report, for sure. Very intense. Very detailed. I do agree with that. But there are some other factors of the Wilson’s business which are not as bad as the report suggests. We have to consider that,” My dad said as he threw the reports on the table and looked straight at me. Is that the best he can come up with? Seriously? “Ahhaaahhaa… Oh Andrew, that better be a joke. Just based on this report, I can say that there is nothing to consider with the Wilson’s. Why do you even want us to consider the Wilson’s? Everything in this report suggests that they are not doing any good. I am actually surprised that they are still in business. But, tell me Andrew. What’s there to consider with the Wilson?” Mrs. Abigal Richard laughs at first and then speaks to dad with a cold face. She scares me sometime. She has this aura around her that I can not describe. But my mom and grandma Julia and grandma Sharon keep telling me to keep her on my side and I listen to them. They know what is best. Hearing Mrs. Abigal Richard’s question, everyone around the table turned to look at dad waiting for him to answer. Dad looked a little taken aback from the direct questionings from Mrs. Abigal Richard. After a long pause, dad finally spoke up saying, “It may not seem to be doing that well now. But there is immense potential in their business. I can see it!! We just need to give it a shot. We can gain a lot from their shipment company if we merge or even invest a little in them. You guys need to trust me in this. I am telling you. This can give us hug profits!!”. Though he tried to be really assertive and confident, I don’t think he managed to convince any of the board members. I don’t think he could convince even our janitor based on the report I had prepared. I was thorough with the report. It was perfect!! I made sure of it!! I do not want to do any business with the Wilsons. Ever!!! I do not want dad to win. I will not let dad dictate my life again!!!
