THIRTY-FOUR Hannah stood at the counter of the general supply store, frowning at the folded piece of paper in her hand. They’d lost the bulk of their supplies in their aborted escape attempt, and would not last much longer without buying more. Thanks to Neil’s generosity in putting their medical supplies on the council bill, she still had money left over from her last shopping trip. Before she had a chance to list what she wanted, the dour-faced shopkeeper handed her a note she said was from Neil. Her frown deepened as she unfolded the piece of paper and scanned the words written in a neat hand. Dear Miss Young, please meet me at the same place as last time.
