The hostess led them to a seat and told them a server would be right over. Nicole was glad they were at a table instead of a booth, until Sly asked to sit next to Mason and Rocky.
“You don’t want to sit next to your mom?” Mason asked.
Sly shook his head. “No, I want to sit next to you and my daddy.”
Both men looked at her as though asking permission, but Nicole just shrugged and forced a smile. It wasn’t like she could throw a fit in the middle of the restaurant because her son was attached to the new men in his life.
Nicole opened her menu and looked at the options. Immediately, she turned to the kids’ menu and tried to figure out something Sly would want to eat. Once she decided on an option for him, she scanned through and chose something for herself.
