The distraction worked perfectly. Luna went invisible and ran through the crowd to reach the guards. She stabbed one’s heart with her dagger, and simultaneously threw a knife at another guard’s neck. Only two guards were left; one of them held the torch while the other shot thin needles of ice at an invisible target. The one with the flaming torch lit up Will’s wooden pyre midway up; the fire was too close to his feet, and his calm face was replaced by a terrified one. He frantically looked around for help. Belle dropped in the middle of the crowd and used her fire powers to create a large cloud of smoke, leaving the crowd coughing and scrambling for air.
