Rob’s POV
I looked at her and a knowing smile crossed my face.
“I know this face, I think we met yesterday, yeah?” I asked, but she looked rather shocked.
I tapped her gently. “Hey, miss. We met yesterday, right? I almost knocked you down, you remember?” I said and pushed her hair backward while she stood there, lost in thought.
“Hey, miss.” I peered my eyes into hers, and she suddenly jerked back to reality.
“ You're the guy from yesterday. The one who almost ran me over,” she said, and I couldn't help but laugh out loud.
“Oh, so my name is ‘The guy who almost ran me over, huh?’ I asked and she giggled sweetly.
“No, it's not that, your name is Robinson, yeah?” she asked, and I wondered how I forgot her name.
“ Let's sit over there, '' I said, pointing to the bench close to the restaurant and she nodded.
“Hope you're getting better now, and again, I forgot your name," I said.
“It's Rosy. She said and smiled.
Oh! That smile! Her beautiful eyes, her lovely green eyes, and her chestnut hair. All perfect.
“Yeah, I remember now. Rosy is such a beautiful name,” I said and she smiled even more.
“Hope you didn't miss your meeting from the previous day?” she asked and waved her hand over my face to be sure I was listening.
“Ye..s's yes… “ I stammered. “I got there a few minutes late, but you don't have to bother, I handled everything.
She looked at me and suddenly looked down. Her face was pale, and I wondered what was running through her mind.
“ What's wrong, Rosy,” I asked and nodded negatively.
“It's nothing, Rob. Don't you have another meeting today?” she asked, and I took a deep breath.
“I have a meeting, but it's in an hour, so I have the whole time in the world,” I said, and she smiled sadly.
“What's wrong, Rosy? Talk to me,” I said, concerned.
“Are you sure it's okay to share my problems with you?” she asked, her eyes sad and her voice worrisome and weak.
“ Spill, Rosy. If it's something within my power to help, I'd gladly do that.
As Rosy opened her mouth to talk, a distant scream echoed through the air, causing both of us to turn and realize that the source of the noise was coming from the direction of the restaurant entrance. A young man was about to propose to his girlfriend and she couldn't contain her excitement.
“Aww! Love is beautiful,” she said, smiling sheepishly and grinning from ear to ear.
“Yeah, love is beautiful when you find the right one for you,” I said, agreeing to what she had said even though I could not relate.
“Good for them, I just hope their love keeps waxing stronger,” I said, faking a smile and getting up from the bench.
“Are you leaving already?” she asked, and I remembered she was about to tell me something before the scream about the proposal.
I sat down and gave her my full attention.
“You wanted to speak to me about something,” I said, sitting down to hear her out.
“I need a job.” she blurted out, her expression plain and unpredictable.
I looked at her again and wondered why she needed a job.
“A job?” I asked and she nodded.
“Yes, a job. I don't know if you can help me with one. I need to cater for myself and also rent an apartment,” she said, and I nodded.
“ Oh, that's fine, Rosy. Do you mind taking up a live-in domestic job at my residence?” I asked, and a smile spread across her face.
“In your house? Is that okay with you?” she asked with a concerned look on her face.
“Why not, you need a job, right?” I asked and she smiled sweetly at me.
“Yes… yes… yes… I want the job.” she replied excitedly, and I couldn't help but smile too. Her smile was contagious and it got to me.
“When do you want to start?” I asked, and she used both of her hands to cover her face.
“ Can I start tomorrow?” she asked shyly, and I leaned in towards her and whispered in her ear.
“You can start today if you want?” I said. She hugged me tightly.
“Thank you very much, Boss. You're the best.” her voice was filled with gratitude as she spoke.
“What's the boss for?” I asked as she pulled away from the hug.
“You just offered me a job, and it's only right I call you boss,” she said, obviously wondering why I asked.
“No boss, please. Are we going now? I mean, tiny house?” I asked and she nodded negatively.
“Aren't you going to the meeting anymore?” she asked and glanced at my wristwatch.
“Jeez! I'm running late already. I didn't realize that I had stayed this long.
“So, what do we do about it now? The job?” she asked.
“Yeah, that's true. Maybe I can drop you off at home and come pick you up after my meeting. How about that?” I asked and she smiled. Her smile has a way of captivating my heart.
“Yeah, that's fine. So, we can go now” she said and stood up.
“Yeah, sure. Let's go.” I said, stretching my hands out to her, which she took immediately.
We walked over to the parking lot and I made sure to open the door for her with a smile spread across my face.
“ You shouldn't have,” she said as I turned around and entered the car.
“Shouldn't have what?” I asked, wondering what she meant.
“Open the door,” she said, shyly.
“But it's nothing, Rosy,” I said, trying to turn on the ignition, but stopped when I realized the key was still in my pocket. I chuckled at my absent-mindedness and handed her the key.
"Seems like I'm having one of those days," I said, and she giggled.
“Some days are like that,” she said and stared at me and I couldn't resist her anymore.
