Chapter1
Rosy’s POV
The blaring of a car horn seemed distant as I made my way to cross the road, but it soon became closer and snapping out of reverie and seeing a car an inch from knocking me off, my mind skipped a bit and I fell to the ground, breathing heavily as a good number of people started gathering.
The owner of the car who almost knocked me stepped down from his car and I turned towards the door to see who wanted to kill me, but I got thrown off balance as he walked towards me.
Rosy! He's so handsome, his eyes are dreamy, his lips are succulent and he looks dashing.
"Are you okay?" He asked, his voice filled with so much concern.
I shook my head negatively, and he stretched his hands towards me. The people gathering were waiting to see what would happen next, so I took his hands.
"I will take her to the hospital, it's okay," he turned around, talking to the people who watched, and they started to disperse. He carried me up and put me in his backseat, but as the car sped off, I sat up, and he turned to look at me from the driver's seat.
"Don't worry, you'll be fine. I will take you to the hospital to get you properly checked," he said, fear in his eyes and panic in his voice.
"Don't take me to the hospital. I'm fine. You don't have to worry yourself" I said, and he turned briefly to look at me before looking at the road.
"You need to get checked to ascertain if you're fine" he replied with so much concern and for the very first time in a long while, I felt safe and treasured.
"I'm good, you know?" I replied faintly, and he packed by the side of the road, turned off the ignition, and turned to me.
"Are you sure you're fine?" He asked and I nodded.
"Seriously, I'm fine," I said, and he ran his hands over his head before giving me a fake smile.
"What about food? Are you hungry? We can grab lunch at a restaurant?" He said and I shook my head positively.
"Lunch is fine, I'm very hungry," I said faintly, and he smiled before turning on the ignition, and voom, the car sped off and, for the first time, I calmed down to look at the interior of the car.
"Are you sure you're fine?" he asked, and I nodded."
"I'm sorry for inconveniencing you, you must have a really busy day ahead of you, but I disrupted it with my problems. Please, forgive me.
He shot me a glance before pulling off at a fancy restaurant and my eyes widened.
"This place looks expensive," I blurted out as we parked in the lot.
"Not that expensive," he replied "Stay there, I will get the door for you", he added, and stepped down from his seat.
Rosy! Wake up! He's getting the door for you! No one has ever done that for you.
The door opened, and he stretched his hands toward me, signaling me to take his hands, which I did immediately.
" Careful, please," he said, his voice calm and soothing.
"Thank you," I responded, taking his hand and stepping out of the car.
Rosy! Rosy!! Rosy!!!
This only happens in fairy tales, not in your world. But here you are. Being treated like a princess by this stranger who just picked you up a few moments ago.
"Hello!" he waved his hands over my face and I blinked, wondering what he might have asked me.
"You seemed lost in thought. Are you sure you don't want to be checked at the hospital?" he asked, and I nodded negatively.
"I'm fine," I replied with a smile, and we proceeded to the restaurant's entrance.
****************
The waiter arrived with our food and I felt a wave of shyness wash over me, even though my stomach was growling with hunger.
"I forgot to ask your name?" he asked, his eyes peering into mine.
"Rosy," I answered, and his face lit up.
"Rosy is a lovely name, my name is Robinson," he replied.
"You have a lovely name too," I said, wondering when we were supposed to dig into the food.
"Let's dig in," he said, his eyes fixed on me, and I dug into the pasta, my taste buds dancing in delight for a moment. I forgot I was in a public place and was in a rush, but stopped when I noticed him staring at me.
I raised my head, a bit self-conscious, and saw the intensity in his gaze. "Is something wrong?" I asked, breaking the silence.
He chuckled softly. "No, nothing's wrong. It's just refreshing to see someone enjoy a meal so much. It's like you're savoring every bite."
A warm flush spread across my cheeks. "I guess I was starving," I admitted with a shy smile.
"Well, I'm glad you're enjoying it," he said, taking a sip of his drink. "So, tell me more about yourself. What's your story?"
I hesitated, not used to sharing my life with strangers. "It's not much of a story. Just an ordinary life with its ups and downs."
He leaned back, studying me with those captivating eyes. "I find ordinary stories fascinating. It's the small details that make them unique."
I smiled, "You don't want to know.
"Try me," he said, and I chuckled.
"You don't give up, do you?
" No, I don't" he replied.
"I thought so too," I said, gulping down some water.
"You don't wanna share, do you?" he asked and I nodded.
The rest of the lunchtime was a memorable one as I had eaten to my full and I couldn't eat any more food. We finally left the premises of the restaurant, and I was grateful for this chance, even though the circumstances surrounding the meeting were off the point.
As we walked out of the restaurant, I couldn't help but feel a mix of gratitude and curiosity about this stranger who had turned my day around. The sun was shining, and for the first time in a while, life seemed to hold a glimmer of hope.
He turned to me with a smile, "I hope you feel better now. If there's anything you need or if you ever want to talk, I'm here."
I nodded appreciatively, still processing the surreal turn of events. "Thank you for everything. I appreciate your kindness."
"No need to thank me. Just take care of yourself, Rosy," he said.
I smiled sheepishly.
"Do you want me to take you home?" He asked, and I nodded negatively because I didn't know what might be happening at home.
"N…o..o.. Don't bother, I will find my way home." I said, hoping to sound convincing.
"Alright, fine," he said and opened the driver's seat door.
God, please, I need money or Nancy will have my head on a plate when I return home. I don't want to face another tongue-lashing just yet.
"Here, take this," he said, handing me five hundred dollars, and I couldn't hide my excitement.
"This is a lot," I said accepting the money from him.
"No, it's not. Just use it to find yourself home and the remaining to get something for yourself. I have a meeting a few minutes from now" he said, and I was grateful for all he had done for me already.
"Bye, Robinson. I hope we meet soon." I said, and he smiled back at me, throwing me off balance once again.
"I have a feeling that we will meet again," he said as his car drove into the busy street.
Rosy, wake up! This feels like a dream but it's not.
I walked away, feeling a newfound warmth in my heart.
**************
I got some groceries from the store and smiling at the number of groceries I got with the money from Robinson, I walked home with a big smile plastered on my face.
Nancy was waiting at the door, her usual scowl deepening as she saw me approach.
"Where have you been, you good-for-nothing girl? Did you think you could escape from your responsibilities?" she barked.
I took a deep breath, determined not to let her ruin the positive energy I had gained from Robinson's kindness.
"I had a little accident, but I'm fine now. And look, I even brought groceries," I said, holding up the bags.
Nancy's eyes widened at the sight of the groceries, and for a moment, her stern expression wavered.
"Where did you get the money for this?" she demanded.
I hesitated for a moment but decided to be honest. "A kind stranger helped me out. He also gave me some money for myself."
Nancy's scowl returned, but this time it was mixed with a hint of surprise. "A stranger? What nonsense is this? You probably stole it or did something indecent to get that money."
I shook my head, frustrated by her lack of understanding. "No, Nancy, he genuinely helped me. I had an accident, and he took me to lunch, gave me money, and even offered to take me home." I said, trying so hard to sound convincing but she collected the groceries and walked towards the house.
"Stay here, I will be back," she said and walked into the house, only to return a few moments later. The smile on my face faded and shock graced my features.
